We gave this restaurant a catering order. –When we were food tasting at different restaurants to decide which restaurant to choose, the owner and his workers were very nice, and provided proper food for everything. –But when we got the food catered – our friend from Santa Clara brought it down to San Francisco, we had placed an order for 22 people, but they barely sent enough food for 15 people. –There were barely enough puris— they probably sent us 2 puris per person, one small samosa(when usually their samosa appetizer is 3 samosas per plate), enough rice for maybe 8 people, barely enough chutney for the samosas. –They didn’t even send enough one gulab jamun per person. Fortunately, we had the cake from the event as a second dessert. –We would not recommend this place to anyone, and in fact their business should shut down. They cheated us and in the last minute we couldn’t get more food. — Never get food catered or even go to the restaurant!!!

I couldn’t agree with the review below by Jigesha. I had the same exact experience with our catering order: NEVERGIVECATERINGORDERTOSAGARRESTAURANT *** We gave this restaurant a catering order. One of the few places where Jain food has plenty of options. Decent to awesome taste. Very reasonable prices for buffet. And above all owners are welcoming and smiling. Hot Rotis made it complete dinner.

enjoyed vada pav, cutlet(i think it is cutlet) and pani puri but dissapointed with all other dishes. the spread is actually good but i dint like the taste of most of the dishes. roti’s are amazing and they are fresh. but i couldnt find a side to have the roti’s. being a vegiterian thali, i think it is priced up high. the place is congested and lot of tables placed and cleaning up of used plates is pretty slow as we can find only 1 person serving or filling the food, serving roti’s and clearing the tables. they gave a complementary pan stale pan which is even more dissapointing after clearing the check.

Great home style cooked food. They have a buffet for lunch and dinner along with freshly made chappatis and puran poli. The ambience & décor are pretty simple. It’s located next to an adult movie store so guests with children planning to visit might want to take that into account. The placed is owned by a lady who used to work at DeeDee’s reataurant. All in all a place worth visiting.

We went there before closing but they were very accommodative and let us take our time. Food was delicious and shrikhand, mango ras as well as lassi to die for. They also have best gulab jamun. I would definitely recommend if you are gujrati food lover.

Just came here for lunch today and had the buffet. The restaurant was for some reason ridiculously warm so we sat near the door so that we could get some cool air every time the door opened. The buffet was ok. I definitely won’t be craving anything from there, but for $ 9.99 I guess that’s a good deal and I enjoyed my rice and dahl. I think if you’re in the area and like vegetarian Indian food it could be worth checking out. However there is a ton of Indian restaurants in the area though and there might be better ones to go to.

If you look up «hole in the wall» in a dictionary, there would be a picture of this place. The food is below average and it’s located in a corner of a strip mall right next to an adult video store and a liquor store. I went to Sagar for a buffet lunch on a Monday. There was a family of four with a screaming baby, a single patron at another table, and another family of four walked in with me. As soon as I got to the counter to ask for one buffet seat, the lady at the register(who seemed like a nice woman albeit overwhelmed with everything), took a phone call and began writing down an order for take out. This went on for 10 minutes while I waited with another family of four behind me(just put them on hold, you have customers in front of you!) Once she got off the phone, I explained that I’d like to pay for one buffet plate at which point she told me to just grab a plate and pay at the end, so I waited for nothing. On top of that, there were no clean plates set out. In fact, most of the tables in this«vegstaurant» were haphazardly arranged around the room in varying states of disarray, most of them had old plates and napkins yet to be cleared. It was pretty disgusting to see. The soda machine had a hand-written sign on it saying it was out of order for everything except for water and even then it poured out cloudy hard water that tasted terrible. Even the signs for the food at the buffet counter were poorly made, hand-written paper signs that had been up for a while. The two dessert dishes tasted great, but the lack of cleanliness, good food, and any semblance of service means I will not be going back to this place again. If you want a quick snack and are desperate, maybe you could go here but you’d be better off going somewhere else.

Never ever eat here! It’s places like these that turn me off towards Indian food & restaurants despite being an Indian myself. We ordered to go from here for dinner tonight. Ordered the batata vada, papdi chaat, dhokla and paneer tikka masala with naan. The food was beyond horrible and uneatable. We were literally given frozen food that was not even defrosted properly and cooked. Ice cold batata vada, no papdi in the papdi chaat, literally 4 piecess of flat tiny dhokla and they substituted onion kulcha(read frozen from Indian grocery store) for our naan without even asking/telling us. We ofcourse realized all this on opening the food at home. I called up the restaurant and spoke to the woman who I think is the owner. She was extremely rude, lied and told me that her cook fried up the vada in front of her and admitted to not telling me they were out of naan. She hung up on me twice — no apology was given and she had a whatever attitude. I think the owner needs to understand that she is running a restaurant and people are paying with their money for the food. She is not doing the customer a favor by giving them food and they need to be given what they ordered and paid for. Also, serving ice cold food or food that has not been cooked properly might probably be violating some health codes that is not going to help the restaurant in the long run.

We went in today for dinner. Buffet is not very expensive and there was so many variety. Food taste was very good, I would definitely go in again soon Only concern is Adult store next store, which makes it little awkward when going with family But once inside the restaurant, it’s completely different, it’s clean and food is amazing There are descent parking space available in front for parking

The most disgusting place I have ever set foot in ever. They had a roof leak and they’d kept dirty pails all around to collect the moldy water. It smelt like a hell hole. We had to just walk away from there and the lady didn’t charge us, as I began to gag!

Pro tip: despite the giant wording at the top of their sign saying«Indian Vegetarian Buffet,» this place in fact does not have a permanent buffet. It only has a lunch buffet. I was confused when I came in, so was every… single… customer that came in after me. We all wandered toward the buffet line and were surprised when despite the giant sign saying buffet there was no buffet put out. With that said the food is excellent. Went with the limited dinner thali complete with martar paneer, kofta curry, samosa, Naan, raita, rice, 3 roti, and shrikhand. I devoured every last morsel and finished it off with some chai. Taking a star off because there is no music or TV and the place is just awkwardly quiet, plus for the seriously misleading sign making everyone believe they have a permanent buffet.

Came here for a quick dinner, was pleasantly surprised to see that the previous owner of DeeDee’s now owns Sagar. The food was good, non-greasy and tasty. The mini thali is slightly on the pricier side, but it is filling enough and has 2 sides of veggies and daal with 3 rotis and pulao. In comparison to Deedee or Thali, the quantity on the plate is much less, but that was fine with me since I was not looking for a heavy meal. The a la carte menu options are less but they look tasty.

Best samosas I’ve ever had. Many restaurants buy them frozen and then just deep fry them. Not at Sagar! They are fresh, flaky, and delicious. I was a bit hesitant to go to a vegetarian only restaurant, but the food was amazing, and I left full. I wouldn’t think twice about stopping in another time. The employees were all very kind and patient with my young son, as well. We enjoyed talking to them.

This place is paradise for vegetarians. Their buffet spread was delicious with plenty of options. I visited Sagar with my roommates for lunch yesterday and we were more than happy and full at the end of the meal. The only turn off was the place was small and right next to an adult store.

I wish I had better things to say, but the food just did not taste great — we went there twice and the sauces were just kind of watery and bland. The real test here is that even though this restaurant is very close to our home, we will rather drive more than 20 to get a different indian food that to go here. Oh well…

We were looking for a different restaurant today for lunch when we found this one. Because we were so hungry we decided to go ahead and eat there. We were lucky, the parking place right at the door was free. It’s true what the other reviews say, there isn’t very much parking. The food was so good. I’m not really sure what exactly I was eating but everything was delicious. The man who brought us extra roti and took our plates was so friendly. The restaurant was nearly full at 2:30 in the afternoon. The different dishes on the buffet were constantly being replenished. We got great value for our money. It’s the cheapest lunch we’ve had since we moved to California. Completely worth it for such delicious food. We will return!

Food was tasty and seemed fresh. However, all 5 people in my group got food poisoning. Not sure what was the cause. but I am never going back to this place. Ambience was good. seemed like a family own place. Drinks and pan are included in the buffet. Also, they had a coupon on their website that we showed but owner said we need to bring a printout. which makes no sense given everything is paperless. He said they need a paper trial for accounting purposes. Anyway good place but food poisoning sacred us a bit.

There are very few all buffet Vegetarian Restaurants I have come across. The owners seem to be very friendly and passionate about their new restaurant which reflects in their service. This place has wide variety of dishes to choose from, they also cater to the people who do not eat onion and garlic. They make the Chapatis/Puri fresh, had a to wait few min for them, but it was worth the wait. We were served Vegetable Cutlets and Khaman Dhokla at your table and that too fresh, loved the concept. They also have pani puri at the buffet. For the Entrees they have 6 different curries. Gujarati Undhyu, Sag Panner, Navratan Korma, Kala chana, Chole, Pav Bhaji, Matar Panner and couple more For desert they have Shrikhand, Gulab Jambun which were both delicious. Parking can be a challenge at times as the lot has limited space and is shared by the shops near by but you can find parking on the street or in the next lot easily. I loved the food at this place would definitely recommend you to try it out at least once.
