Sad to say but as of 12/28/2014 they are officially closed:(now u have to deal with the mall or the rude guys at downtown Philly to get a good Philly with wiz !

I love this place! There is another cheese steak place close by but this one is way better. Just a plain cheese steak is preference. Good onion rings and good cheese fries. Don’t forget the Tasty Cakes!

Buffalo chicken and cheeses is the best! A little bit of Philly in SCV

Liked it so much I’ve been twice in a week. The rolls are soft and chewy. The mushrooms and peppers are grilled just right. The sandwich is spiced perfectly, cheesy and delish. I even get the chicken(instead of steak) for half the calories and it is still to die for! i’m not from Philli but my old roomate is and he taught me to be a stickler. This place is good.

They serve a decent cheesesteak. I came down to the LA area from San Jose last summer and I was very spoiled by Amato’s Cheesesteaks in Saratoga. There’s another spot in the Bay Area called the Cheesesteak Shop and they make a decent cheesesteak, but not on par with Amato’s. Philly’s Best is on par with the Cheesesteak Shop. Basically, it’s good, but not the best I’ve ever had. A plus is that they have Tastykake dessert stuff(basically, Hostess-type baked goods famous on the East Coast and in the South). A minus is that they don’t have bacon.

I stopped in with a friend to check this place out. We walked in to find an empty dining room when the other eateries in the complex were busy and full of patrons. The kids working there were friendly but not welcoming and could care if we were there. This was a Sunday night, dinner time and football was in full swing. Sandwiches, beer and football. Where is everyone? Not here. I ordered a pepper steak with cheese, grilled onions, french fries and onion rings along with two cold beers. The food came out shortly after but the sandwich was low on product. I come from the east coast and when you order a beef sandwich you get some damn beef in it. My first impression was, «wheres the beef»? The grilled onions were scarce to non also. My onion rings were dripping wet with oil and over cooked. The fries were nothing to remember. I’d rather spend a couple of bucks more and get a meal that I can’t wait to come back for. A good Hoagie is one that you can barely finish and is all over you when your done. Sadly this wan’t the case. The bread and pickles were good and it was fairly clean. I don’t think I’d ever return. What for. SVM

My family and I USED to love this place. Ever since the management change it’s gone downhill. The produce used in the hoagies taste old, sure seems like less meat and they«just ran out of the(customer loyalty) card». Yet they say the program still exists. They may be the last time we take the cross town jaunt to eat here. Jersey Mike’s save us a seat.

Decent Philly cheesesteak and we happened to go on the 15th so our sandwiches were only $ 5! I had a onion philly with the works, lettuce, tomatoes, mayo, pickles and jalapeños just to try it and it was actually really good flavor wise, the meat was a little chewy. She had the regular cheesesteak with American and wiz and it was cheesy! I feel the cheesesteak as well as the customer service at Downtown Philly is better though. But I would come back for a $ 5 hoagie or something.

I don’t Unilocal any longer, but it dawned on me that I ought to put my last update to bed. There are new owners(again) and things are back on the right track.

Bought a Groupon and used it for take out pizza for the kids on Friday. Pizza was good… nice crunchy crust, lots of gooey cheese, so the husband and I thought it might be a nice thing to try just us for lunch and went this past Sunday. OK… first, it was 12:15 on Sunday afternoon and the place was DEAD. We were literally the ONLY customers in the place the entire time we were there, which was about an hour. That’s just strange for Santa Clarita. Next… so the two guys that work there are pretty cool. They were the same two guys who helped me on Friday night with my pizzas and how do I say this, they are a little bit ummmm, harsh??? I mean friendly, but almost agressive at the same time. It is hard to explain but let’s just say they are very intimidating. I did not feel comfortable eating in the dining room… again, hard to explain. It was almost like we were being watched. The food… Hubby ordered the mushroom cheese steak with grilled onions. I ordered the chicken cheese steak with grilled onions. We added an order of onion rings and because we both are adamant on eating veggies with every meal, we ordered HUGE salad made up of iceberg lettuce, olives, tomatoes and onions. They don’t serve«side» salad so we had to order a full. Their bread is AMAZING… super light, soft inside and crispy but not too crispy outside. The cheese in the sandwich was too heavy in my opinion but I know some people like that. The chicken was MEH at best. My husband liked his cheese steak and the onion rings were ok. The salad was a JOKE. What a way to nail customers! I mean, if you are going to charge $ 8 for a garden salad, then make it a GARDEN salad! Overall… place is clean and the food is alright. Will we go back, probably not without another Groupon. Two sandwiches, a cheap salad and some onion rings… $ 28. For that kind of money, there are a number of places here in the Valley I would rather experience. Do I think this place will survive? Only if they promote take out and delivery through coupons… otherwise, I don’t think they stand a chance… sorry guys!

Tried Philly’s Best today for the first time. I ordered the Cheese steak with cheese whiz and added mushrooms. I also ordered a side of fries. The fries were nothing special. In fact they really weren’t that good. However, I didn’t come for the fries I wanted to try a Cheese steak. Unfortunately I was disappointed. The bread was good but the steak was… ummm just plain bad. It was dry and really needed that cheese to cover up its bland taste. Sorry but I will not be coming back.

Hole in the wall joint with a mean philly. Love their chicken philly. the regular philly can use more grease. :D The onion rings and cheese fries are absolutely acceptable. They also have a $ 5 sub deal on 5th, 15th, 25th of each month. Will def be regulars.

I would say Philly’s Best makes the best Philly Cheese Steak in this area; no comparative. The meat is always tender and juicy. The bread tastes fresh. And the fries are made to east style golden brown specs. Keep up the good work.

I remember when I first found out this was a large chain of restaurants, it was bittersweet not a fan of chains at all… but I really like the place it is so good the sandwiches are awesome! I love them, but it is difficult for me to get over the fact that they are a franchise(don’t get me wrong I am not a success hater, I hope they grow and prosper) I really hope they don’t lose their touch and the quant feel of the chain and the control of the quality of product. With more and more conglomerates taking over the dining experience it is becoming harder to find good unique food that has a quality of flavor that is superior. I have never had a bad sandwich from PB make sure you try a side of the pizza fries(if you are fan of the flavor of tomato paste which I am it is sure to be a hit!

Best I’ve had outside of Philly itself. Sure, it can’t compete with Pat’s or Mike’s… IN Philadelphia… but Philly’s Best really is the closest I’ve come to a real honest-to-goodness Philly Cheesesteak outside of Philadelphia. The meat is fresh, the bread is soft, the onions are the perfect texture and the cheese is wonderfully melted in. The onion rings are FAAAABULOUS though the fries are not that good. Best of all, they have Tasty Kake instead of that Hostess brand stuff that West Coast people seem to rave over(if you grew up with TastyKake, you know the difference!), If you’ve never had a cheesesteak or if you’re missing an authentic cheesesteak, head over to Philly’s Best and enjoy.

This place makes me want to visit Philly and get the full experience! I love this place. When my brother-in-law and I can escape from the family, we head over here and make a go of it. Do this: Order the Philly Cheesesteak with extra cheese. Try that simple combo and you will see what the heck I’m talking about. The fries are good but I always opt for the Tasty Cakes!!! Can’t stop eating at this place so if you’re in the area, check it out! I love it.

Not from Philly. Never been to Philly. Might never GO to Philly. So, I have no expectations or prejudice as we walk into Philly’s Best here in good ol Santa Clarita. I tweeted to my foodie tweeples for advice on what to order: Philly Cheese-steak, Pizza-steak and Tastykakes came the replies. I looked around the place. . menu. . walls etc. How could you NOT order a Philly Cheese-steak with the Whiz first time out? So that was it. Side of fries and a side of onion rings. My wife got a veggie special: fried(sautéed?) onions, mushrooms, peppers and cheese. The roll was ultra fresh and very tasty with the freshly cooked meat on a bed of cheese whiz. I have to say, it was a little on the plain side at first bite, but as things progressed, the flavors came through and it was pretty darn good. One friend suggested fried onions and American in place of the Whiz. . but just slightly too late. That’s the way I’ll try it next time. .. and there will be a next time. The veggie sandwich was also pretty tasty so if that’s your thing, I recommend it. The onion rings were exactly how I like them. I can enjoy the«log-type» onion rings, but I usually avoid ORs all-together because so often they come out with a too-breaded texture ala Jack-In-The-Box. These were nice irregular onion slices, perfectly battered and fried just right. The fries were also pretty good. And plenty of pickles for the taking. I noticed too late that they had beer which would have made it an almost perfect fast-food meal. Youse guys ova der should give Philly’s Best a try anymore.

Came here for lunch today. Reminds me when I went to Philly years ago when I had three cheesestaks in an hour and a half… One from Pat’s, one from Geno’s, and one from Jim’s. The menu is similar to those cheesesteak restaurants. I ordered the steak, cheese, and grilled onions. I thought it was just okay. A bit on the cheesey side for me. Less is better for me. The steak was tastey, grilled onions I wish were sliced thinner. They were a bit thick. The bread was good though. Good that it didn’t soak up the grease that much nor did you have to chew it like cardboard.

So, after a 2 star experience, I was contacted by the owner who apologized and said there was chain-wide issue with the meat which was why I had a problem with the meat texture that time. I told him I would return at some point. Well, I needed something quick and easy so I decided to make this day the day. I wanted to make sure I ordered what they were famous for, or at least what would be considered the most«authentic.» I asked the kid behind the counter what he recommended. «Uh, the sandwiches,» he said. This was no help. I asked him to clarify, you know, which sandwich is the most popular or most authentic. One of the gals behind the counter then popped up with the suggestion of the«Philly’s Best» sandwich, a cheesesteak loaded with peppers, onions and mushrooms. I added in some of the chips, which are apparently from Philly. They were good, average chips, nothing spectacular though for someone from Philly they might be a nice piece of home. I also added in a Birch Beer from Philly which was very good and similar to a root beer. The sandwich was better than last time, the meat did seem a little better. I also think the fact that I had mushrooms, onions and peppers added in made more of a difference. I think they cook the meat too much, then again, there is a health code and many chains have a corporate policy to ensure meat is cooked beyond medium rare. The sandwich also had too much cheese on it, I would rather see less cheese so that all the ingrediants can shine through. All in all, a good sandwich but nothing earth shattering.

Not bad. I got the mushroom steak. The bread was nice and soft. The meat was good, although not as tender as it could have been. The mushrooms might have been sauteed a little more. The cheese was wonderfully melted into the sandwich. It’s good that they have a serve yourself pickle bar. I was looking for cheese wiz on the menu, but didn’t see it. According to some of the other reviews they’ve got it. So that will be my next endeavor. They do have a $ 5 special on Mon and Tues after 4pm which I think would be more worth it instead of the $ 7.84 I spent today.
