Good food good service! I enjoyed the atmosphere and enjoyed the burger. Would come back and eat here again.

I came to this restaurant on a Wednesday several weeks ago and had a strange experience. The food was quite good when it came but the service was terrible. The chef looks exactly like Santa but very upset. There was another woman in the restaurant but all she seemed to do was take care of the birds that live in the restaurant! I believe this must be a health code violation. the waiters were awkward looking untrained high school students but the dish washer was cute. The chef made several loud and very inappropriate comments to the people working in the kitchen which made me uncomfortable. It was a very odd scene. This restaurant could be great but at the moment it looked like a complete mess.

So bummed out! I was so excited about trying a «farm to table» place that was recommended, but was sorely disappointed. First thing I do is go look at the bathroom. If it’s dirty, then I can only imagine what the kitchen is like. The bathroom was FILTHY. I’m not talking about a «it’s been a long busy day dirty,» but, «this hasn’t been cleaned well in a very long time» filthy! Yuk. Right away my experience of the food is tainted. My coffee came out COLD, my eggs weren’t cooked to my order, and everything else was just so-so. I would have given one star, but it wasn’t like the food fully sucked. It was still ok. I’ve had worse, so two stars. We thought«well maybe the cook on Monday isn’t that good and it would be better to come on a weekend» then read some of the other reviews. Bummer. What a let down. Won’t be back.

Have been a fan of the chef/owner for a very long time and have never been disappointed with the food or service. My Place is more than food. It is an experience, The texture and flavor of everything was a treat for the senses. Friendly staff tops everything off I just absolutely love the Décor. A nice place for a date night or a friends night out.

Love this sweet little«home away from home» eatery. Rachel is such a darling hostess, the décor is as charming as it can be and the food is truly amazing. We love it and come here often. Highly recommended!

Not good. Don’t eat here. Place was not clean. My gf and I ordered the same omelets and hers came all smashed up. What happened? Did it fall on the floor? My toast was the heels of the bread and looked really old. My omelet was runny. The staff is untrained teenagers. Spare yourself and find somewhere else.

We came here the day after Christmas and had a wonderful brunch/luncheon with six friends. The service was great, fun dishes and salt and pepper shakers. The owner Rachel is charming. Only downside she was being harrassed by a crazy woman at the next table from Los Angeles… I so admired Rachel’s charm and good humour dealing with this woman who just wanted to complain, and not willing to accept any other order to replace her crepes that she didn’t like. We had the pear and gorgonzola salad and burgers with avocado and swiss cheese, pasta alfredo and sausage sandwich. Best burgers and fries anywhere. A great Mojito too! Happy Christmas and Merry New Year! Highly recommended for a casual lunch/brunch.

I’ve been to countless restaurants throughout the globe and this is by far the absolute worse service I’ve ever had! I no longer live in Santa Cruz but every time I visit I would always come to this restaurant. My family is regulars here, but not anymore. I ordered the Crepes and when I got them they tasted extremely sour and not edible. I asked if I could return the dish. The manager(or owner – middle age women with dark hair) came over and said since I had taken a bite it could not be returned. Any other restaurant would have happily replaced the dish. Instead this women came over and argued with the table. She was rude and unaccommodating. I finally just ordered a side order of hash browns. Minutes later we realized we had missing items. My younger brother received a glass of milk with strange black specs in it. Coffee and waters weren’t refilled and it took multiple tries just to get salsa. At the end of the meal the check came and we were charged for the missing items and charged a automatic gratuity** **No where on the menu or in the restaurant does it state that there is a automatic gratuity. This was charged without telling us. I’m pretty sure that is fraud. The cherry on top of this experience was that the manager/owner yelled at our table and argued with us. What a idiot and horrible business! Your Place lost yet another family of regular visitors. Don’t go here! Don’t waste your time or money.

I don’t get over to the west side much but have been wanting to try the place out which I did. I don’t like those strip malls on the west side but of course the interiors of the businesses are nice. As we walked in for lunch we were immediately greeted by the hostess and given menus. The décor is very«homey.» She asked us if we wanted water and were brought glasses with a slice of cucumber in them. We ordered from the extensive menu and were brought bread and butter with bottles of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The food was made to order and very good. The garlic fries even have fresh garlic on top. The prices are a bit high especially deserts which are $ 8.75 each. So our lunch tab was $ 45. But for a special occasion this is a nice treat. So when on the west side give this place a try.

This is a «Santa Cruz» dining experience at its best. The place is located in an old strip mall on the west side of town. Twenty years ago it was an Italian restaurant. Now it features the concept of «farm to table», featuring locally sourced and fresh ingredients, carefully prepared. And it does so very well, if the Thanksgiving buffet I went to is anything to go by. The place is small, and funky in a fun and welcoming way. Not fancy. I went to the Thanksgiving buffet at Your Place with a friend. Although they were booked up, the manager was extremely accommodating about moving my reservation forward in time, as I ended up having to drive home back to the Sierra that evening. The Thanksgiving buffet was traditional, turkey with all the trimmings, ham, roast beef, salmon, pasta and macaroni and cheese for the kids, a small salad bar to start with, and an excellent cheese and pickle and olive table.(The cheeses were all very good, from the smoked Gouda to a Brie that was ripe and gooey and delicious!) Other places have much more elaborate buffets, offering a greater selection of appetizers and so on, but what distinguishes this place is the care and quality taken with the preparation of the food. In short, it was excellent. The turkey was moist and succulent, the salmon was moist and not overcooked or dry at all, the stuffing was fine, the gravy flavorful, the mashed potatoes tasty, and the vegetables(green beans with shredded carrots), cooked crisp-tender. Nothing fancy, but very well done – good ingredients, carefully and skillfully prepared. The selection of desserts included carrot cake, pumpkin pie(a little bland for my taste), and a truly excellent lemon tart. The wait staff was friendly and attentive – granted, most of them are UCSC students working part-time and not professional wait persons, but everything I asked was promptly and cheerfully produced. The place was packed with people of all ages, and rarely have I been in a restaurant where everyone, including the staff, seemed to be having such a good time. And all of this was for almost half the price of the traditional resort or club Thanksgiving meal. I can’t speak to the wine list, as I brought my own bottle – and will note that their corkage charge was very reasonable – again, about half of what pricier restaurants charge. I will return to try their regular menu. If the meal I had was an example of the care and attention to detail that the restaurant regularly maintains, I recommend it highly. It was the nicest«restaurant» Thanksgiving dinner that I have had in many years.

Hands down the best breakfast joint in Santa Cruz. In fact I’ve only found this level of quality food and service in San Francisco. Hash browns that aren’t greasy, thick bacon, amazing options and unique menu items. The bar for customer service is low in Santa Cruz, but here it is performed with A class professionalism and genuine enthusiasm by every employee I had contact with making it stand out even more. Bravo!

We came to Your Place during restaurant week, so I’d like to preface my review with the fact that this restaurant was likely dealing with more business than usual. In short, the entire experience was a disaster. Our order was forgotten, when the hostess checked on us(where was our server?) and brought out our first appetizer 45 minutes in, it was straight out of the fridge and missing oil and garnish. Our main course was actually fine. We both had the filet mignon, and the steak was good, garnish tasty, and potatoes delicious. We ate over an hour after we sat down and ordered. We asked the busboy for the check(server MIA), and our desserts to go, since we had given ourselves two hours for our meal and we were getting close to the end of that time. When we got to our friends house a few blocks away to share our dessert and our disaster of a meal, our deserts had been lovingly thrown in the box. Really?

My boyfriend and I live close to this place and have been wanting to check it out for awhile. My advice-do not waste your time or money. Went in on a Saturday morning and it was pretty empty. First impression of it was great because of the cute décor. It is painted nicely and there are a few homey touches that merit the one star I am giving my review. However, the terrible service quickly turned our brunch into a negative experience. We were sitting down for about 5 minutes before we even got menus. We decided on what we would order quickly and although the bus boys were wandering around aimlessly, we did not get our order taken for another twenty or so minutes. We even asked twice if one of the bus boys could take our order, but they pointed to Sam, the waitress in the back making drinks. After we tried multiple times to flag her attention, she came over with a huge attitude. We FINALLY got our orders taken. I was planning on ordering drinks, but was scared that anything above and beyond would take another half hour. The staff was clearly incompetent. For service that bad, the food better be outstanding. Sadly, not the case. It was mediocre and absolutely over priced. Would rather cook at home than ever go back.

I enjoyed a good meal during Restaurant week and will go back to try breakfast. You could tell everything was home made and good. They even mentioned the restaurant week would be extended to the end of Oct for $ 30 a Prefix. If you have not gone there you should give them a try.

I’m afraid this is one of those«I had such a terrible experience I had to join Unilocal just to write about it,» reviews. I was a little perturbed about trying this place, after reading some of the negative reviews, but the food sounded good and it was during Santa Cruz Restaurant Week, so I figured they would put their best foot forward. As it turned out, apparently whoever runs the restaurant had no idea that participating in a highly popular, much advertised event might actually bring in business. I’ve never experienced such terrible service in my life. I appreciate that it was very busy and the staff was overworked, but the fact that it was so *inconsistently* bad really stood out. A couple who were seated just a few minutes before us got their drinks, bread, their appetizers and their entrees, while we waited and waited and waited for nothing.(We had also waited a long time to be seated, our reservations being apparently completely meaningless.) We did get water; mine was in a lipsticked-stained glass. I felt completely disregarded as a customer there. Every staff member was careful not to make eye contact so they wouldn’t have to acknowledge our presence. Our waiter didn’t seem to be remotely interested in our having a pleasant dining experience or even in our getting food. I can’t comment on the actual food, because we eventually just left. The whole experience took about an hour. I love the idea of farm to table, but there has to be something on the table.

I be been here a couple times with friends. The first time i went in June 2015 we were treated really well and had an amazing server who kept Checking in on us periodically. The food took a while to come for a group of 5 being we were the only ones there but we didn’t mind as the staff was very attentive and kept bringing us pitchers of mimosas. Fast forward to August 2015 I met another group of friends there, total of 6 of us. I get there late and have no idea who my server is as no one came over to welcome me, say hi, take a drink order, a food order, nothing. I had to flag someone down in order to order. When I say flag I mean almost getting up to stand in the way so they wouldn’t keep walking by us and ignoring us. Not once did anyone Check in on us. We got maybe 3 pitchers of mimosas compared to the like 10 we received last time. There were only 3 other parties tops and we saw couples come and go before we ever got anyone to stop at our table. We did not feel welcomed as we got the feeling they didn’t want us there. We would have left sooner if we didn’t have to jump at the staff in order to get our check. I was very disappointed as I used to recommend them and now don’t think I’ll ever go back. Their food is ok. But plan on spending a pretty penny. The mimosas went up from $ 9-$ 11 a glass which would have been okay if a had had more then 2 glasses… Service was not good that night but who knows maybe you’ll get lucky. Bottom line would not recommend. Will not go again.

Upon further thought, I wanted to edit my review because I want to support local businesses and I feel like my previous remarks were a bit harsh. Unilocal should be a platform for constructive criticism that hopefully business owners will use as a tool to improve their overall performance. I gave this restaurant a one star because I felt the service was poor. We ended up leaving before being seated because there was a woman in particular on staff that was not very welcoming and in my opinion rude. We gave it a good ten minutes of waiting for them to clean off an open table before leaving, frustrated. Hope they can get it together, but I don’t plan on going back.

It was amazing. If you are in the Santa Cruz area, you need to try this restaurant. Cage free eggs, organic just about everything and great coffee! Service was great as well. Bottomless mimosas are awesome as well. Bacon was thick and crispy, biscuits and gravy were yummy, eggs were cooked perfect and the pancakes… oh the pancakes were AMAZING! You can’t beat their breakfast special…$ 5.99. Eggs, bacon and pancakes.

This place is FUN and the food is eclectic and full of creativity. There’s a wide variety of items that’ll satisfy even picky eaters! Desserts are homemade and well thought out! Please come in and meet Rachel she’s here everyday and never without a smile. Her warm heart fills the air. I’ve enjoyed my visits including the all day $ 9 mimosas please make this«Your Place» too!
