Great Tri-Tip sandwich and onion rings. Very decent pour on the cocktails. Attentive, but not pushy service. Perfect dark bar atmosphere. Hit just the right note all around. We’ll be back for sure.

Everytime I go this place I finish getting the tri tip sandwich. Still looking forward to try something different but still can’t help it. I’m delighted with its excellent flavor … it’s just perfect.

Good tri tip sandwich with pinquito beans here, some good local beers on tap. Maybe best onion rings I’ve ever had. Was referred here by a local, seems like a solid old school place, I would like to come back and try more items.

I’ve been several times for lunch, always good! Shrimp Cesaer Salad yum! Came for dinner we got linguica appetizer WOW! So good! Zuppa Toscana soup was amazing. Had halibut which was cooked well and scalloped potatoes. Hubby had steak and daughter had potato skins, all were good. We had lots of leftovers. Also had dessert, great crème brûlée!

Picture this scenario: a group of nearly 20 post-wedding revelers looking for a solid, beef filled lunch to put in their fairly hungover bellies. They all congregate at a steakhouse, where their fearless best man had thought ahead and put in a reservation to accommodate the entire group. Once there, they all find the doors locked, lights out, and the restaurant — you guessed it — closed! The restaurant had booked a reservation for a time they were closed. *cue panic* This is where Swiss saved the day! Swiss was located just down the street from the Plan«A» restaurant, had similar food, and, amazingly, was willing to seat a group of 20 near each other with just 20 minutes notice. My five star review is partially for the food, but the true star here was the service. The Swiss staff had us seated and served within no time. The staff had another large party to contend with, as well as regular customers, yet somehow managed to always get to refilling our drinks, bringing out food as ordered and on time, and got all of our(separate) checks correct. As for our food, it’s pretty solid steakhouse. I had the ribeye steak sandwich cooked medium rare. It came out closer to rare, but I’m OK with that(I personally order medium rare for this reason — I’m OK with a rare steak up to a medium). The teak itself was nice and tender and not too salty. I felt comfortable with the steak prices for what I received. The sides were pretty much par for the course. My husband said his onion rings were nice and crispy, and my salad had a nice bit of yellow beets. To sum up, solid food, but SUPERSTAR staff! A huge thanks to the Swiss staff for letting our group enjoy the last little bit of weekend and not letting it end on a hungry note!

The service and food were wonderful. They were able to accommodate our group of 20 with just a half hour notice after an unfortunate mixup with our reservation elsewhere. The waitstaff is incredibly attentive. The food was great quality and came out quickly. We will come back next time we are in town!

Wow what a great place, found on Unilocal! From the time you walk in the hostess is welcoming and fast, and service is very quick. I had the shrimp cocktail and trip tip sandwich. The tri tip was amazing Santa Maria style BBQ. Super tender and flavorful. The shrimp cocktail was meh. A bunch(15?) of medium sized shrimp in an cup mixed with like celery and cocktail sauce, with a. Cup of cocktail on the side. I am a traditionalist but it was not bad, I just would not order it again. Stick with the BBQ items and I’m sure you’ll have a 5⁄5 experience. Will go back!

We came here two nights ago for dinner as it was one of the locations that I had bookmarked for dinner. The restaurant itself is a bit dark and very old. Old fashioned to the extent that you see carpet on the floor of the restaurant… not my favorite. It smelled good and I was hoping that the food was better than the look of the restaurant, but it was just ok. My husband had the prime rib and I ordered the ribs. I had read that the ribs were really good so I was looking forward to getting them. Service was a bit erratic as we had 3 different servers come in and check on us. Which is good because we didn’t feel neglected, but I wondered what was going on though. We had salads to start, which was ok, my balsamic vinaigrette was a bit strong, but no biggie. The entrée portions were big, but it was a bit overwhelming. For my plate, I got a baked potato, ribs and with that they added some garlic bread. As an accompaniment we also got some baked beans and salsa in cups. I wasn’t sure what they were for, but the server mentioned it seemed to be a good addition? Husband said that his prime rib was ok, nothing spectacular. But I think he got indigestion later that night. lol. Needless to say, you get a lot of food for your money, but I don’t think the quality of food is on par for the price. We are in the area a bit longer but I don’t think we’d be back.

Always Excellent. Ribeye sandwich is my favorite. Dark and Dank is the vibe, and I like eating medium rare beef in such an environment! We’ll arrive at lunch, and it always feels like a steak house… you have no idea what time it is outside. Drinks are POTENT.

This is when Unilocalers came through on this place. Had I not read the reviews, I would have never found this place. I make Santa Maria Tri tip a lot, and I’ve made pinquito beans a few times. My husband and I split the Tri Tip sandwich and we were both very full. The tri tip was perfection… moist, not overcooked and flavorful. Those beans… I selfishly ate almost the entire bowl, barely sharing it with my husband. I hinted around how I’d love the recipe, but they were not forthcoming. I so want to make these again. They had ground beef, and notes of cumin and chili, but not too much. I want that recipe! Service was good, and I thought that the prices were reasonable. Five stars for the food we got. Three stars for what the place looks like on the outside… definitely not inviting, until you enter. I’d eat here again.

The food was excellent thank goodness because the waiter Jordan was completely MIA. Other tables around us appeared to have good service. Had to ask for appetizer plates, never asked us if we wanted something to drink, never checked back to see how our meal was, and after putting our credit card sticking out of the folder and waiting 20 minutes we took our payment up to the desk. He was there and when I told him we had been waiting a long time he said«sorry about that»

Was recommended their tri trip sandwich. Called in and ordered to go. Food was ready and warm when I arrived. I was definitely impressed by their tritip sandwich, might be the best I’ve had in town from a restaurant

Truly a delightful meal. The sweetbreads appetiser was perfection. I have never had ANY preparation, home or restaurant, come close. Flavor, texture, excellent! Prime Rib, Ribeye, clam chowder, were excellent as well. Another extraordinary surprise was the fire brazed broccoli side dish. If I could reproduce that flavor and texture I’d fire up the Bar-B-Que just to grill broccoli. Food: Excellent Service: Spot on. Pricing: $ 25-$ 30 dinner meal

Food was okay and service was decent. Didn’t get a bag to carry our left overs home in and ordered 3 slices of chocolate layer cake to go after our meal. Once we arrived home I noticed mold all over the slice of cake right before my 3 year old almost took a bite. Pretty disappointing. It was my first time and i don’t think I’ll return.

Just OK. A bit overpriced for what you. Steak was good. Mashed potatoes and veggies were watery and luke warm. Pasta was cooked well just didn’t have a lot of flavor. The chicken on the pasta was moist and flavorful. The service was great.

Great welcoming service, the menu has a wide selection of American style food. My favorite is the atmosphere, all the natural wood very warm feeling inside I can see it being good for a date night or family gathering.

Artichoke is spectacular. Burger really tasty. Tomatoes on burger not very ripe. Fries are wide steak fries. Bacon and burger meat superior. Good for a nice lunch but this is really a dinner place. Booths are high back and comfortable, even for bigger people. The restaurant is clean. The wait staff friendly, yet professional.

The Good: one of the best burgers I have ever had. Ever. Ground in house, cooked perfectly. The Bad: Mac n cheese– seriously, how does a place that calls itself a steakhouse use velveeta for its Mac? Not to mention it was soupy. The Ugly: a $ 20 rib eye salad should be awesome. You should not be picking fat cubes out of it and making a pile to show the server(who doesn’t come until most of the salad is gone). Final insult: only comped ½ the price of the salad! No worries — the rest came from the tip.
