Yes it’s expensive, but if you don’t have a friend to fix your pc for you this place is the best. Joe the manager has a great team, WAY better than your average best buy. I mean WAYYYY better

I think with services like Geek Squad, it is truly hit or miss depending on the agent that is serving you. Also if I were paying yeah it’d suck. $ 199 is steep for individuals though, IMO. So yeah, I’m giving 5 stars but I also believe the other reviews and definitely a YMMV. Network troubles. Being in a small company and being the youngest, I am the designated network admin. I usually fix everything on my own throught he various support. Talking to «Jason» of our ISP, then«Michael» of our router maker, «Tommy» of the Anti-virus, and then«Susan» of the PC maker… who are all from motherf*#$%ing Bangalore India(sorry no disrespect to Bangalore itself). And of course they all blame eachother for the problem. But this time after spending nearly 2 days on the phone I gave up and called geek squad. It all came down to burnt router. But it saved me mad annoyance. The best part was the guy took the time to teach me how to troubleshoot and diagnose network problems. I know it’s part of their package but he broke it all down politely and very patiently. He also gave me tips on how to deal with the phone support people. Etc etc.

Sent out on an appliance repair, waited weeks for an appointment then had the«technician» show up tweny minutes after calling and leave after two minutes when I was five minutes away on my cell. No call, no show, no repair, no good Geek Squad. Somewhat illiterate note left on my door, looked like a chimanzee wrote the scrawl.

Removing a virus from my computer — $ 199 Damn, guess I shouldn’t have ignored those annoying McAfee update pop-ups. This«sporder.dll» lil sucker of a virus invaded my computer, blocked my internet access and would not let me close a window that just kept rearing its ugly head no matter what I tried! Geek Squad to the rescue. I called ahead of time and they told me it was gonna take 2 – 3 days and cost $ 199($ 299 if you need them to install anti-virus software). So I begrudgingly hauled my tower into the store, which is inside the Magnolia on Wilshire. The guy(dressed in his spiffy revenge of the nerds outfit), sang a different song once I got there and said it would be 3 – 4 days. Fine. 5 days later I call to check on it and the«geek» tells me that he’s working on it, it’s an easy job, and he’ll call me that night. …yada yada yada… another run-around session, and my computer is finally ready to be picked up… after 8 days. Granted, I’m no computer guru and I have no idea how long it takes to fix something like that or how many screwed up computers they had on their plate, but I know customer service — the guys should have managed my expectations from the beginning. I’m back in full effect and virus-free…so I’m not holding it against them. I am, however, going to pay attention to those pesky pop-ups from now on.
