Service is hit or miss here, but their food is UH-MAZING!!! If you love Mediterranean food, you’re in for quite a treat :).

Not greatest as my dish was cold when I got it. I’ve had tastier shawarma plates for half the price.

The food is good, but the service is sucks. If there is no table available, they don’t try to give you an approximate time. I guess I would recommend this place if you want to get it to go

I ate there last night, the food is below average, the price is high, the food has too spice, i had a heartburn after I finished the first half of my order.

Let me start by saying, two sandwiches,(chicken shawarma, chicken breast) one plate(schnitzel), one beer(blue moon)$ 45. So if you’re able to spend the cash then this place is one of my favorite places to eat at. The schnitzel is excellent, I hardly ever eat fried anything but this plate is an exception! It comes with two sides, I suggest the Israeli salad and hummus. The shawarma sandwiches are all good, the sandwiches come in pita or laffa bread, go with laffa! They have health alternative salads and soups. Bunch of sides and additional items, all yummy goodness. Suggestion, please add a more beer selections! Why 4 stars, to the owners; the guy sweeping the floor should not handle food in one hand as he’s holding the broom in an another no matter how busy the restaurant gets! Just keepin’ it real The Real Foodie

I have always liked this place, everything is fresh and the portions are just right. I always go after the lunch rush so I had never had to wait too long to order or to get my food. One thing I do not like here is the high chairs, I feel like a toddler sitting there with my legs dangling, so I always take it to go. Definitely a good place to grab a quick lunch.

I love great hummus. I’ve had amazing hummus in Israel and haven’t been able to find anything comparable in the states, until now. The pita was nice and fluffy and warm, like it should be! The hummus with shwarma was DELISH! The service was also great. We asked the bus boy if he would clean off a table for us out front and without hesitation, he said sure and cleaned off the table. The service was great. The food was great. The only thing missing? They don’t have a location in Dallas(where I currently live). I’ll be back here every time I’m in the area, without a doubt.

This place is so hit or miss. Food is ok, not great. Seating is only comfortable along the banquettes. Service is pretty absent minded. Every time I order something in laffa or pita I ask for tahini and hot sauce on the side and they bring my order, minus the side tahini/hot sauce, every single time. They quickly go back and get it but why not take a few seconds and look at the order ticket, and make 1 trip to the customer with all they will need?

First off, holy sh*t the beer is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY overpriced. –1 star. Other than that, the portion looked small at first and it’s kinda expensive, but when I finally started eating, I didn’t think I could finish it. It’s super filling. I had a chicken pita explosion of goods and my friend got good ol’ falafel. Middle eastern approval from us both. Oh and the bread is godly.

By far the best Mediterranean food in the Los Angeles area!!! Delicious Shawarma, Falafel, Hummus with mushrooms, in home baked Laffa pita bread… Just love this place, that also happened to have excellent service. I highly recommend you to try it n I give it full 5 stars, because it can’t get any better then that.

I was so excited to get Mediterranean food after a long morning of shopping on Black Friday. Despite it being a relatively crazy day on Third Street, at 2pm there were still a good number of people in Hummus Bar, but we were still able to get seats. The wait for the food was reasonable! Although it is priced at what Mediterranean places usually charge, the plates come with pita(or it might be «laffa» bread; Mediterranean flatbread) and 2 sides! Chicken Shwarma Plate: I wasn’t too impressed with this… I’ve been to a lot of other places that are much more impressive, so I was kind of disappointed. But, it still wasn’t too bad. The chicken was cut into really small pieces, so it had a lot of flavor, but just wasn’t what I was craving. Kebab Plate: Kebab never disappoints! These were made into little patties and had all of the flavors I was looking for! It paired so nicely with the tahini and the hummus, but of course is a superstar on its own too! This was definitely worth the purchase. Sides: Of course their hummus is delicious! I can’t really say if it is the best I’ve ever had, but it’s very satisfying. I also stupidly got a side of white rice, which is plain and can definitely be skipped. The fries are fat and very potato-y! Lastly, the laffa bread was fantastic! It was so fluffy and perfect! Hummus Bar is definitely worth a visit if you’re craving Mediterranean food on Third Street! They bring food out at a great pace and it’s such a convenient place for good food!(just avoid the chicken unless you’re having ridiculous cravings!)

Laffa bread wrapped around anything & everything! Rip pieces off to make my own bite sized tacos with the veggie plate or chicken shawarma plate + sides. Soo good. Ask for chili. Portions are large. Food is good. The line to order can be a bit of a wait sometimes. It can get crowded in the front seating area so be sure to check out the seating in the back past the kitchen. Plenty of large screen TVs for your sports-viewing enjoyment.

The line wasn’t very long so we thought we had a chance to get some relatively healthy grub and continue shopping. But like so many Southern California restaurants, the wait to order is way too long. Granted this place has a confusing menu which didn’t help, but the women at the cash register were terribly slow. Once we did finally order, the food came quickly and we had two Israeli salads one with chicken shawarma on top. There was so much chicken shawarma that what was to be a healthy meal suddenly looked huge. I split the portion with my daughter who was grateful as without the chicken the Israeli salad was a bit lacking.

First of all awesome location, clean environment and friendly staff, now let’s get down to the eats. I had and will recommend the Chicken Shawarma plate with veggie rice, an Israeli salad and fresh made Laffa bread. The food was awesome. I live nowhere near this restaurant but I will make it back. The Chicken Shawarma was perfectly seasoned and just flat out awesome. The Israeli salad was about as prefect of a side dish as you could ask for with the exception of the Laffa bread. The Laffa bread was OMG good. There are a lot of solid options on The Promenade but this one is right up there with the best. And it’s reasonable priced for the quality and amount of food you get.

I had to update my review. I’ve eaten here twice now since my first time and both times either I’ve grown to like their hummus or they’ve changed it up a bit because its delicious. The baba ganush is still the best I’ve ever had and the falafel is equally as delicious. They’re all best with the green hot sauce! And even better when you score a seat facing Third Street Promenade, best spot for people watching! Cheers! P. S. For a fast foodish place, they have quick and friend service, most especially the guys that bring out your food. They’re always so happy and accommodating. P. P. S. The loud music? No longer, someone *ahem” must have mentioned something.

At first look, this place looked okay. I was shopping and was craving bread so I stopped in for a quick, cheap snack. Unfortunately, it wasn’t too yummy. For naming yourself Hummus Bar Express, the hummus wasn’t good. It was probably one of the worst I’ve ever had at a restaurant. There was nothing disgusting about it like a hair in my food, but something was lacking – lemon juice? Salt? Not sure. I ate it, because it was in front of me, but not because I enjoyed it. I was initially excited because they offered whole wheat pitas, but the pita also didn’t taste like much. I think everything was lacking salt or something. It was too bready, and didn’t taste freshly made like I was hoping. It looked good and was served warm, but I speculate they just toast their pitas(or maybe just the whole wheat one). The check in special was nice, but the soft drink station was very whatever, especially since I don’t drink sugar and was hoping for a good ice tea, instead, they only had brisk. The store is bigger than I expected, but when I was leaving it seemed like the bussers were lacking because there was a lot of trash on a lot of tables around me. Next time I’m hungry, I’ll go by one of the italian restaurants instead.
