This use to be our go to sushi spot but the last three visits have been subpar. Everything from the seaweed and fish to the green tea didn’t taste fresh. An unfortunate down turn for a once delightful restaurant.

We tried many things tonight. Can’t say this is the best Sushi I have had. Rolls were not rolled that well. They fell apart. Our favorite tonight came off the baked roll menu. The servers tonight were very friendly. Great service. I will give them 3 out of 5 stars. Biggest Sushi and roll selection. Pain in the arse to get here. Bigger pain to get home. West Side on Friday sucks. I can see how this place might be called a place for Locals. I would not and could not see myself driving very far to come here. The Miso soup was a little bland and the rolls were poorly rolled and seemed a little messy. The fish seemed okay but it seemed like the fish was poorly cut and pressed too heavily across the top of each roll. Physically this place was on the hippy side, brightly painted with yellow walls and decorated with symbolic fish art of some sort. Two TV’s hung from the walls and the biggest feature were the large chalk board filled with every combination of sushi you could imagine. Frankly, there was way too many options to choose from. I think we opted for number 51 and 60 something. it does not matter. You will have many of things to choose from made with every sore of fish imaginable. Cucumber sticks out in mind as does spicy this and baked that. Not a bad place, but with so many Sushi joints in the universe, I will likely never come back to this place. Service 5 out of 5 stars Chairs 3 out of 4 stars — nothing but the basics Food — 2.5 — 3.5 stars Water? I dunno — did not drink it. Soy sauce — 3 out of 5 — it seemed to make my face flush. perhaps too much sodium? Drive — 0 out 5 — I came from Encino on a Friday night and it sucked. Drive home was as bad.

Local spot, very nice people, but terrible service, mediocre sushi at best and well too expensive. i gave it 3 more trys because id love a local spot to endorse. each experiance was worse than the other. just left having spent over an hour for 1 hand roll and 2 cut rolls. never was asked for a refill or any bit of service. had to get up and find someone for my check, mind you i was one of 3 people in there. terrible. never again.

As a Santa Monica local, this place is my new go-to happy hour. I’ve driven by numerous of times and realize now what a shame. It took a friend of mine to get me to check it out and I am so glad I did. We now meet there on a weekly basis. The sushi quality is excellent and yummy, happy hour prices have to be the best in town(sake bombs for $ 3??? Yes, thank you and keep bringing them out!), ambiance is super fun and staff is friendly. The seaweed salad is a must. New local fav for sure!

Amazing experience! My boyfriend and I went to miSOfishy for his birthday lunch(lateish, around 3). I personally don’t eat sushi and was planning on powering through some rice but they had a fish and chips meal that was surprisingly awesome. The fish was cooked beautifully and the sauces were tasty. My only complaint were the fries being soggy and not quite thoroughly cooked but hey, its a sushi place. My boyfriend got a variety of sushi and loved it. His favorite I believe was called the monster roll, couldn’t stop talking about it for weeks!(I actually tried it and it was pretty tasty, for sushi) I don’t think he disliked a single one. The only bad thing: appetizer dumplings were terrible. Could cook frozen ones better. But again, its a sushi place. We sat at the sushi bar and were served by Steve. He was amazing and courteous, and prompt, and accommodating etc etc etc. The blonde server/whatever who was originally supposed to be helping us sucked pretty bad, to say it eloquently. Steve had to tell her to help us, she never got us refills(had to ask steve) and she basically seemed like being there was the worst possible activity for her. But, Steve and the food made up for it. It is street parking but we’ve never had a problem finding a spot on the street.

Delicious sushi, but there were a number of annoying fruit flies in the back seating area. Sit at the bar for a cleaner and more desirable environment.

Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon and had a great meal. Service was warm and friendly and the beers we ordered were ice cold. We ordered a few rolls, my favorite being the Monster Roll, really really good. Everything was tasty, fresh and just as described. The ambiance is open, bright and kid friendly(a huge plus for us) so we would definately recommend this place and would not hesitate to stop in here again.

I can’t stop going back to Misofishy… It’s for a whole bunch of reasons. The food is always good… and when Steve makes it, it’s excellent. Every time my friends and I go we receive the warmest welcome we order sushi, sashimi, and the rolls too. They cater for my vegan friend, no problems at all. Darn it, I can’t think of anything to complain about… There’s always parking on Bay too.

The food at this place was really good but the service sucked beyond belief! The sashimi was served over some sort of ginger which gave the first plate of salmon a strange and an unappealing smell but we asked to serve the next plate with no garnish and it was delicious. We also tried the marina del ray roll and the playboy– both we’re incredibly good and slightly different then I’ve had elsewhere. It’s unfortunate because the service took away from our good evening. Overall I gave this place a 2 star, as the average of incredible food and bad service. If the service was better I would have given this place 5 stars.

The name says it all. I always associate this place with stinky/fishy water cups as I used to live close and tried it a few times and was continually fish cupped. Over priced, slow service, sloppy rolling.

Service was good even though the place was pretty full on a Friday night. It has a decidedly trendy feel to the atmosphere and the young staff who were very friendly. Ordering is done by checking items off a worksheet which I think is kind of low-class. When I received my order there was an item, pepper tuna, that arrived on my plate that I had no recollection of ordering. It’s not something I would order and so I asked to see my worksheet and sure enough there was a mark. It just didn’t look like my mark and I’m really suspicious that a worker added it to my order to increase the bill. It could be my sake-laden brain misfiring but I think if I go back here I will be more careful to make a unique mark that less easy to quickly imitate. Wow, I know that sounds paranoid but I couldn’t shake that feeling. I would come back here if in the area but probably wouldn’t go far out of my way.

Not so good, but definitely«fishy.» We had the Roll combo and the swordfish steak. According to my boyfriend, the swordfish was old and overcooked with a really fishy taste to it. I didn’t even want to try it. It looked really unappealing and overcooked. I ate some of the roll combo, but after a few bites, I wasn’t hungry anymore. The California roll has a super-strong imitation crab taste to it(you know the flavor) that overpowered whatever else was in the roll. The spicy tuna was okay, but nothing especially savory or delicious. The rice seemed kind of off. The flavors were out of whack and not that delicious – I usually don’t drown my sushi in wasabi and soy sauce, but this was a definite exception. Our service was a little spotty as well. The people in the front/near the bar where having a blast(chatting up/drinking with the waiters and chefs), but we were unfortunately seated in the back and forgotten for a while. Every ten minutes, something we ordered would come out, we’d nibble on it and wait, something else would show up. After this happened a few times, I was ready to leave and not come back anytime soon.

Fun allowed here. While it looks quiet on the outside, the humble owner hosts an awesome hospitality session nightly on the inside. The place is as warm as any Irish pub and there is usually a game on. Steve will make anything and it’s all good. We even hosted our Germanys Next Top Model wrap party there and it was great.

On a Monday night in LA, I felt like Santa Monica so I Unilocaled this place. At first I worried that I would keep giggling like a school girl at the name«misofishy». But I had nothing to worry about. Great little neighborhood sushi place. great service. Loved the food. Now this is definitely more of a sushi roll kind of place. Not for the sushi purist who’s all about the sashimi. And the rolls are really filling so pace yourself. We had the Sunshine Roll(salmon, lemon, sweet and delicious) and the Wow Roll(spicy tuna on top, sliced jalepenos, and amazingness). Also had the baked muscles. Not as good at Sushi Zone in SF, but darn close. I would definitely order it again. And when the check came, I was almost like, «Did you guys forget to charge us for something???» I guess that’s what I get for staying at the BevWilshire on a biz trip all week. Honestly, I would rather have had Misofishy twice a day.

I got dragged here… I had no choice after the bad experience I had… but the sit down experience here was infinitely better than takeout. So up one star. Still not the best place in the world or anything I would crave, but they do a pretty decent job here. Came here for a coworkers last day since it was convenient and close by. The service is definitely better if you eat in, plus we were actually the only table there. Waitress was really nice and food came out very quickly. Ordered the hand roll combo, cali roll, spicy tuna, and a shrimp tempura one. Ingredients were fresh and the hand rolls were made to be a pretty decent size. Nothing spectacular, but above average for the usual hand rolls. Simple and plentiful. Generous portions of fake crabmeat, tuna and shrimp tempura. We all had a good time here with some sake bombs and our bento boxes and sushi. So Misofishy, I might be back but not anytime soon prolly.

Konichiwa SaMo! Yes the japanese cat is out of the bag! Arigato Unilocal for yet another great find! Misofishy is just a drive down the street from me. I’m the official Misofishy junkie and ever since I found this place… I’ve been coming here as often as once or twice a week and I order the same thing: Miso Soup, Tuna Cracker, Baked Baby Lobster Roll! Super solid choices! Shrimp tempura is amazingly yummy! Other rolls I’ve tried… Cousin, Crunchy, Jessica, Rainbow to name a few. They have 70 different specialty rolls! Isn’t that insane!!! My –1 star goes to: Side note: had dinner here last night and ordered the cousin and jessica roll… and it didn’t give me the wow factor… it was plain tasting, which was disappointing… So those 2 rolls are on my black list. But with my favorites here… I will keep coming back to get my japanesezy fix! Customer service is great. Sushi chef… Steve is the man! Stop by Misofishy for lunch or dinner and tell Steve I sent you! Street parking. Don’t blink or you’ll miss this hidden gem off of Lincoln. I bring my family and friends visiting me to Misofishy! I heart Misofishy that much =] Misofishy is a solid choice if you’re in the area and craving Japanese! My favorite Japanese hot spot in So Cal! — Miss Unilocal 2010

Tonight I wanted to try a new sushi place that wasn’t near my homebase… I searched and read review after review on Unilocal and finally came up with MISOFISHY. It’s a nice and clean place. We had a lot of the usuals, but then also some AMAZING specials rolls at the end that made us so full I thought we were going to die. One was called the WOW Roll and my new favorite item, the Viva Corona! Oh my #@%&… I wanted to take Miss Viva Corona home for some sexy time…(it was that good). The service was good, but what made it great was the Korean owner, apparently named Steve. He greeted us and said goodbye, but with a sincerity that you could feel. That sounds lame, but it’s true and is why I thought this was a four star review. I also love that they have a few parking spots too, so I will definitely be back. Keep my Viva Corona Rolls comin!

Well, i work right around the corner, literally, from the place, so I figured I better give them a try. A group of us went after summer school hours to grab lunch. Many of them had arrived before I did, so they had already ordered. The décor hasn’t changed too much from the way it was with the last restaurant. I was impressed by the menu. There were, it seems a hundred pictures of different variations of sushi rolls. They all looked delicious. I ordered a salmon bento box. It was less than $ 11. The salmon was about the size of a Snickers bar and about as wide. It was a little more cooked than I would have done, but not dried out. It was served atop chopped cabbage and it had a light sauce on it. The miso soup tasted a little fishy to me. It wasn’t bad. I like fish. There was a scoop of rice, 4 pieces of vegetable tempura and a delicious salad. The wasabi wasn’t too spicy, not the singe your nose hairs kind for sure. The waitress kept my water glass full, which I love. I did have to wait nearly 25 minutes for my food to arrive. That was starting to piss me off. I almost walked out to go buy some fries at Tommy’s when the food arrived. I wish they would have apologized for the wait. What impressed me was the automatic separate bills. We didn’t even ask! Nice touch. As we were walking out, the guy behind the sushi bar asked where we were from. We told him that we worked at the high school and he said that had he known, he would have made us something special. I told him that we’d be back next week.

My brother and I went here last night and were both very impressed with the food. The fish was very fresh and some of their specialty rolls were great! Service was quick and attentive, but not overbearing. I like that I don’t have to keep asking for more tea. It’s a small place, which makes it nice since I’ve become used to the small space restaurants while living in NY. To me that also becomes a test of the staff. Misofishy folks passed with flying colors. All were very friendly. So the food. As noted, clean, fresh and flavored just right. Nothing was overbearing(e.g. too much ponzu sauce on anything…) and the portions were just right. My favorite was the Popcorn Baby Lobster roll, one of their specialties. The batter was light and the accompanying roll was spot on. My least favorite was called the Cristy Roll. I’m not a fan of having cheese in a roll, but my brother did and so I tried a piece… meh. We also had something called the Monkey Brain, it was very good and a great way to start off the dinner with an explosion of flavor! However, they may want to consider changing its name, not because it’s reminiscent of a monkey’s brain, but that it has another negative connotation associated with it. In any event, don’t let the name deter you for any reason, it’s definitely worth a try. I finished off with their signature dish, the Misofishy Roll.(I’m assuming signature dish since they named it after their restaurant) It was light yet quite flavorful. Will definitely return to Misofishy!
