This place doesn’t exist. We drove all over the Firestone winery property looking for it and actually saw the sign but no Alpacas or people. Called the number on the website but got a filled-up voice mail box. Went into the Firestone tasting room to ask and only one of three people had heard of it but said it is no longer there.

This was a awesome visit! Took my daughters to see the alpacas. They are currently obsessed with alpacas, so they wanted to see some real ones. We heard there were some in Santa Inez and my daughter did some research and luckily found the Alpacas at West Ranch. We met Hayley, who was so friendly and nice. She offered a very educational, interesting and fun tour. We learned so much about these cool animals! She was so patient and kind and she even let us feed them! This was the highlight of my daughters trip! I recommend this farm to anyone with children or even if you don’t have kids but are interested in alpacas. I assure you that you will not be disappointed.

Add to the list of highlights this past visit! I like visiting the central coast region for a few reasons, although it’s no Napa it offers us Angelonos a day trip getaway when we need an escape. While out on the Foxen trail we had made our way to Andrew Murray and the gal pouring our tasting mentioned Alpacas, I just about darted for the door that very second. There is only really one stop along this trail that wins me over the rest I visit to give a chance to, so by 4p a chance to do something other than be let down by wine was extremely appreciated. We paid up and headed right over to Firestone an took the right to the farm area. We didn’t see them at first but they are back there, just hanging about :) It wasn’t really off the beaten path and was on our way into Los Olivos so it totally made sense. I didn’t hop the fence in a dress and heels and they are unattended so I simply greeted beside the fence and snapped a few photos. Cute little things! It seems I’ve taken to searching out more than just wine while on the trail. Many of the wineries have tarantulas that I’m always looking to spot, we’ve seen some great birds, a vulture and you might as well hit ostrichland if you’re out this way. Fun little spots like this and the lavender farm really add a little something to your visit.

What a wonderful experience this was for Syd, my granddaughter. I had called ahead and asked about a tour and who ever it was that answered gave me a time to arrive. I followed his directions and thought I was lost-as I arrived at a private ranch and nobody was there but myself and granddaughter… then out came this gentleman rancher. He gave us a private tour, we walked all over the paddocks and out in the fields with the animals and thru the barns. He told Syd which ones like to be pet and it was an unexpected and delightful experience! He has a very small little trinket shop – and of course Syd bought a(toy) Alpaca… how neat is this! Syd tried to talk me into going back there also, but it was too far to go from our hotel – and once was enough!

A fun way to learn about a very unusual pet. Alpacas and llamas live on this 50 acre ranch set right in the middle of the vineyards. Call ahead if you want a tour/information which is fun because the owners really know a lot about alpacas and llamas and they seem to invite visitors into the pens with the animals.
