I ordered the Ferny’s Burrito on wheat tortilla(no extra charge). It comes with Grilled steak, guac, salsa fresca, potatoes, and cheese for $ 6.25. The burrito itself was alright, nothing to die for. It had an okay size to it, not the biggest or smallest. The restaurant has seating inside. They have the salsa bar area, the diablo sauce is, in my opinion, the best one. The only con I’d have to say is, it took around 30min to get my food and they were not busy. It was maybe around 5 – 7 people with a couple phone orders. But 30min is crazy long. I’m not going to hold it against them, maybe it was just a bad time that I came by. But anyways, long story short, you get what you pay for.

Really glad we gave this place a try! The food was really good, and pretty fast too. My wife says that the guacamole was«BANGIN»!. That means that it was good. I think the guy at the register was named«Alex», what a nice kid, he’s from Vermont.

This place has really good food. We used to stop by frequently when my sons played little league at santee pioneer. The inside of the restaurant was really small so we always got it to go. But we never had any problems, just lots of great food.

I tried the chicken chipotle burrito, and the buffalo chicken curly fries. The fries are amazing would go back for those alone. Burrito was good but I’m going to try a traditions one and make my final decision other wise great place if you want to try different Latin inspired cuisine I would recommend

I had the pollo asada burrito and I was impressed! Easy to locate, kid-friendly, a lot of parking and good service. I will come back here again. From the outside it does not look like much but they delivered. I live near another popular Mexican joint but it is good to know there is another tasty Mexican place in Santee.

Come on with the loud music! Management should keep a better eye on their pink haired youngster working in the evenings. The food was fine.

Great food, huge portions, and good prices! I highly recommend Ferny’s if you’re looking for a tasty taco shop in East County. The large carne asada fries/nachos can feed two people! There are tons of meal options which makes it hard to choose, but I’ve liked everything I’ve gotten so far.

Authentic Mexican Food in East County ! Even the chips are great! Free drink refills, fair price for good food. Kids meals are sized well and come with a juice box instead of soda like most places. Tables and dining area was clean and tidy. Satellite radio coming from the speakers and they use an iPad POS system. Quick service and good customer service.

I’ve tried a lot of Mexican places all around San Diego County and Ferny’s hands down is one of the best. I’ve never been disappointed! From traditional burritos/tacos to their buffalo chicken fries! Great prices too! The salsa bar is also amazing. The green salsa is one of the best I have ever tasted. I can’t say enough great stuff about Ferny’s, you’ll have to see for yourself! The staff is also very quick and very friendly.

Nondescript exterior. Colorful menu board. Gritty interior. Yep, it’s a taco shop. The menu is more creative than most so bonus points for that. The nacho burrito(which I’m fairly confident would offend the authentico policia) was outrageously good. The adobada burrito, unfortunately, was fine but nothing special. Chips were fresh and thick, just like in Old Mexico. Salsas from the salsa bar were fine. Prices were fair. I’d say, go with Ferny’s unorthodox offerings.

Came here with my roomies for dinner one night. We live close by and heard great things about it so decided to try it out. The menu is very unique from burriots, to tacos to curly style Mexican fries. We orderd the buffalo chicken curly fries, total hit! Curly fries, buffalo chicken and chipotle cream sauce make up this delicious concoction. Our service was prompt and the staff was friendly. The place could use a little TLC but other than that, I would definitely go back!

Tried this place for the first time today. The service was good: cheerful girl at the window. Did take a lil longer than I expected to get my order. I got the Ferny Burrito(steak, potatoes, cheese, guacamole and salsa fresca) It was the best burrito I have had in months. The steak was tender but had a grilled flavor, the chunky potatoes were perfect(and there wasn’t an excessive amount) the cheese was melty and the whole thing was seasoned perfectly. Grabbed a lil salsa and I was in burrito heaven. I will be back.

So good. I was so happy to find a local Mexican place with good reviews in Santee. It is right down the street from the jail, so keep that in mind, but the food is so good. I did take out and I will be having it more often. The food isn’t over greasy, the chips are lovely, the gal that took my order explained things and sizes as I ordered to make sure I had realistic expectations(I ordered a small chips and guacamole and she explained the size of a small and medium.) Happy wife, happy life.

You have to go here and try the HLS. I stands for Heaven, Land and Sea. It is a Carne Asada, Chicken and Shrimp Burrito with a chipotle cream sauce. There really isn’t a better burrito anywhere. They also have other good stuff, but this burrito is a must if you have not been here before. They have plenty of dining space. Typical taco shop atmosphere. Not a place for a first date, but really good food.

I love Ferny’s. In my opinion, it is one of the best,(if not the best) taco shop in Santee, hands down. I eat here at least once a week. I always call ahead and no matter who answers the phone, they are always courteous, friendly, and prompt. It only takes ten minutes after you call for your order to be ready. There are so many different things to order, and they are all outstanding. They serve buffalo chicken fries, surf n’ turf fries, and Carne asada curly fries with nacho cheese. They have a burrito with rolled tacos and nacho cheese inside called the«Santana High Burrito.» There are 4 types of salsa at the bar inside, there are fresh limes, hot carrots, and peppers. There is a burrito on the menu that has Carne asada, shrimp, and chicken. It is amazing. This time, I ordered the surfin California burrito with rice and fries inside. Given the obvious from the name, it also has steak, shrimp, chipotle cream sauce, and cheese. And yes I ate the whole thing. My wife got a small order of the Ferny’s nachos, with nacho cheese, which she described as, «absolutely delicious!» Despite being a size small, it had the perfect amount of everything on it, and it was enough for me to have a few chips myself. The large is almost too big, but worth it to share between 2 people. I will continue to frequent this place, because they serve top quality food with fresh ingredients. They give you good service and they care about your experience. I recommend Ferny’s to everyone I know, because I truly believe it to be one of the best taco shops I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. Thank you Ferny’s, keep up the awesome work!

Came in here for lunch, the cashier was a cool and they brought out the food really quick. Parking in the front is a little tight in front so I suggest parking in the back. I ordered a fish taco and the pollo asado tastada. The fish taco was really good and the the sauce was perfect. The tostada was pretty big for 5.95. Good quality pollo and cheese.

It was late at night after a evening of errands and I had my usual crave for some Mexican food. Was out in the Santee area and Frenry’s Grill came suggested to me through Unilocal. From their ratings, it appeared that most Unilocalers found this place to be exceptional, but I think a lot of those reviews are old, because I didn’t get the same experience here really. Later in the night, around 930ish I came walking up to their window and noticed I was the only one in this area late at night on a Monday. The woman working inside was very pleasant to me and helped me make my choices. Their salsa bar to the right of the counter( ) had quite the array of different sauces to choose from. Unfortunately I only found one sauce that I cared for, the chunky red. The rest of them had a weird unpleasant taste to them. I also got some carrots to go, they weren’t anything special really. Their rolled tacos( ) looked great upon opening the container, but after taking a bite, I realized the tacos tasted kinda stale tasting and the meat inside didn’t taste very well. They were also very skinny compared to most rolled tacos, they don’t appear that way in the picture but they were. The guac on top was pretty good though. The Fenry’s burrito( ) was your basic carne asada burrito, with some beans & rice thrown into it. While the burrito was a decent size, it had some flavor issues with the beans & rice, I didn’t really care for the taste of their beans, again they tasted unfresh. The meat was cut up and cooked great though, wish they had put more meat into it. The tortilla shell was kinda of dry tasting too, don’t know if it was left out of the bag overnight or something. Overall Fenry’s was sorta of a disappoint for me, the pictures here promised fresh tortillas pressed in their kitchen, however I did not taste that what so ever. It seems this place has changed a lot from when reviews were last done here, and it hasn’t changed for the better. Fenry’s isnt exactly the worst place ever, but its a huge stretch from being great or good.
