I am really sad… dogs are no longer allowed on the patio! That is the main reason we came there, to sit outside, have food and drinks. This is our neighborhood place to go and we would not go back now. Our dogs are well behaved and we appreciated that we could bring them along.

I must say I was quite surprised by this hidden gem. Yvette was very acommendating to our church event very detailed and professional. Even the staff in the bar was very nice. We love the everything about this place the view was wonderful, the banquet Hall was amazing and the hotel Suite was quite cozy. Thank you Carlton Oaks Golf Course for making our event sucessful.

The only reason I go to this place is for the beautiful views and outdoor seating. The service is slow, food is not great and the prices are high.

Time has passed since my first review of this place and the bar/dining area is like a different business. What I experience now is incredible food, great drinks and the best view in the area to eat or drink. Its beautiful!!! More importantly is the staff. Everyone has been great, but in particular Joe is incredible at his job. Keep these things as they are and I will continue to return.

Went here for Thanksgiving dinner and it was great! Not very busy but the food was great and service was awesome. I kinda felt bad because I’m sure the servers and cooks all had families at home too but they were working hard with very friendly attitudes and made sure we all bad a great experience. .I would like to say thank you to all of them!

My only complaint is they cut the menu way back. Alot of my favorite food items are no longer available. If they had not done that I would have given a full five stars. The staff and the drinks there are great.

once again I went there almost 3 years later. this owner has totally destroyed this place. he’s cheapened the food and raised the prices. do yourself a favor and find another place because this guy doesn’t give a shit about you. I live 1 block away and it used to be great. good bye forever. dan

Mother’s Day Brunch 2015– We had made reservations after looking at the menu online as we were very impressed with what they had planned for the Mother’s Day Brunch. When we walked in our first thoughts… we felt we were walkiing into a nursing home. Even my 71 year old mother was joking about it… What we were not prepared for the food tasting like it was from a nursing home! The salad was soggy, the rice was mushy, the potatoes had no seasoning, the roast beef was dry. Oh and the mini muffins were hard as a rock!!! We sat there laughing hysterically about those hard muffins! The desserts… two choices… and looked like a three year old had set up the dessert table… not appetizing at all!!! Smashed pieces of cheesecake(I think) served on dirty dessert plates.(No thanks) The only saving grace was the mimosas. BIGWASTEOFMONEY at $ 25.00 a person!!! Lessons learned… We ended up at Bj’s for Pizookies afterwards. YUM!!!

Well let say I was happy to hear Carlton Oaks had a Mothers Day Brunch. I wish it was a little better on service, and keeping the food ready. The service was not what I expect for Carton Oaks and the food was OK. I have had better.

Came here for dinner last night after a long day. Had the Bacon Blue Cheeseburger which was outstanding. The bun was toasted with a bit of butter and the French fries were nicely seasoned. The menu as a whole was fairly pricy, but that would be expected given that it’s a restaurant attached to a golf course. Only downsides were the speed of service, which was more than a little slow & the ambience. Don’t blame the wait staff on the service though since the burger was piping hot when it arrived at the table. Maybe the kitchen is under-staffed? The room itself if pretty stark. Seems less like a restaurant and more like a spare room next to the bar that they threw some tables and chairs into. The dark wood really brings the room down.

I had been going to The Oaks for years. Every Wednesday, just like clockwork. I continue to love the staff here, but the management has decided to make this more of a snack bar as opposed to a restaurant. A conservative estimate is the menu has had 60% of the items deleted. No more french dip, steaks, pizzas, etc. And GONE is the prime rib special, that WAS the best deal in town. I am truly brokenhearted over losing my ‘regular spot’ here so close to my home. It should be noted that this place did absolutely no marketing at all. The ownership and food/beverage manager have really let the patrons down. All my best to the wonderful staff.

We came for breakfast, hoping they still be as laid back as they were before the remodel! Nope! My hubby ordered his breakfast order I asked if they could make me a BLT since it’s stuff they would have for breakfast anyway(right)? Nope the bartender said sorry but it’s only breakfast items till 11am… when it’s only 20 mins till. so we cancelled our order and finished our drinks and decided to go to ihop instead since they aren’t as strick on what you can and can’t order from their menu. I failed to mention the bartender made my husband a white Russian yet forgot to put khaulua.. yes it only had vodka and milk???

Highly recommend going here for breakfast! The food is delicious and you can sit outside looking at the beautiful view. Service can sometimes be a little slow, but that’s okay i guess! Very nice coffee!

Cool place, nice views, good drinks… But the food… Umm maybe we went on a off day. Wings burnt and I ordered the burger with the one with bacon. Will half way eating in I notice the bacon had slid to the other side of the burger and bacon was raw! I showed the Waitress and she Asked if she could make a new one for me and was very polite. But at that time I was already done and kind of sickened by the raw bacon on my burger and the burnt wings that I really didn’t want to eat anything else. I am 8 months pregnant and could have gotten really sick from this. Thank god I didn’t!!! In the end The waitress should have taken it off of our bill but instead we were charged full price for everything. It was not a good first impression and makes me not want to go back there.

Well, I am sorry to say that good thing didn’t last. We went back there and the Chef(Heather) is no longer there and it really shows. The food was terrible!!! Sad because we like going to some place close to home to have a quiet meal. Not happening hear again. We tried it manys times since she left, but it has never been the same. Even the silver ware is bent and very cheap… wow! Funny how it appeares that all the good review were during the time Chef Heather was there… The pictures shown for this place don’t look anything like the real food… can we say GREASY!

If you are looking for quality food, good prices and fast service keep on looking. This place is appropriately tucked away from the road, so far away you have to be looking for it explicitly. Thankfully this is the case in the event you may accidentally venture into this place. Other than the incredibly intolerable noise level, the environment is dark, and uninviting to the point of us moving outside to fend off the wilderness(flies, gnats, mosquitoes). Apparently the main draw is the bar, which is outlined by the substantial number or bar patrons who are quite loud themselves. None of the décor or environment helps to separate the bar from the restaurant. All it would take are some waist high dividers and perhaps a separate bar entrance. The food is just terrible, everything was either overcooked, undercooked, improperly cooked(i.e. fried rather than baked), soaked in grease or obviously frozen(potato skins and popcorn shrimp). any food that looked good was almost tasteless(Vegetable Pizza was so bland it was gross). It also took almost 2.5 hours to get all of our food, and we only had 2 to 3 drink refills. I have to blame the management for staffing 2(yes 2) waiters to work on a Friday Night! Also, there is a serious lack of technique and skill in the kitchen. I ordered a Club Sandwich and they hid a burnt piece of toast in the middle of the sandwich, just pathetic. If they need a good cook I am unemployed :) The single redeeming quality was the fact that the waitstaff was very good. They were polite and cordial even though they were clearly overworked. Although when we wanted to complain to the manager they told us he was busy due to the under-staffing and would pass the complaint along(lucky for him). Considering the prices(100 dollars plus for 5 people) it was the most expensive low-quality bar food I have ever tried. for comparison we went to Coronado and ate with a view of the San Diego skyline for the same price. I will not be coming back until they fix everything, hire an actual chef(because damn!) AND add another waiter or two to Friday. Also, some accountability from the manager, or feedback from him wouldn’t hurt. Food: Zero/5 Wait: Zero/5 Service: 3⁄5 Ambiance: Indoor 1⁄5 Outdoor 3⁄5 This reviewed was spared my wrath due to their waitress and waiter(both of who also are bussing tables, inexcusable) who excelled in spite of terrible management. Also, sitting in a spot overlooking a golf course was fairly nice when we moved outside. I would dock it for the tactless lady who kept coming outside and cussing on her cellphone every 10 minutes but the restaurant can’t control that sort of thing, unless of course they scale up the food quality and implement a dress code(something a golf course restaurant should do).
