This is a hidden gem! The food, service and presentation are typical of what you would expect from a fine dining restaurant at much higher prices. It’s unpretentious and fabulous and it’s now on my go to list for fresh seafood that I can afford to visit more often. Kudos to staff and owner!

This was wonderful. We all ordered fish; 2 of us had the tuna and it was superb. We ate outside on the patio. Service was very good. All in all, a lovely experience and this restaurant has been added to our list of favorites in the Sarasota area.

Found this place on Unilocal and my fellow Unilocalers didn’t lead me astray! Our food was great! The service was good. The place was plan and simple; we didn’t expect much when we walked in. If you’re focused on the food quality and the value of the food then this place can’t be beat.

I had never heard of this place until my dad suggested we grab dinner here. We had a party of 5 and sat inside. It’s a small, unassuming place, and I was pleasantly surprised by the food! Everything was tasty and cooked perfectly. We had the Lobster Bisque, Shrimp Kacey’s(awesome, love the guac and bean cake), fish Tacos, Mahi Orange honey bee sting, and a few other things. It was fantastic! Service was nice and attentive, but not too intrusive. Great dinner all around.

Was in town for a sporting(softball) event and found this restaurant via Unilocal. This place was so good that a group of us went two days in a row for lunch. The lobster roll(chunks of fresh lobster) and grilled grouper(thick, pillowy and sweet) sandwich was some of the best I’ve ever had to date. Some local craft beers were available as well. Service was outstanding and the owner was very personable and friendly.

Pleasant surprise! Stopped here after arriving in the area for my vacation and it was a nice start to some good seafood and fun, relaxing atmospheres in W Florida. Had the clam strips– they were fried up and extremely nicely battered, served atop some well done, crispy French fries. It’s in a shopping plaza, but don’t let that scare you away. Very nice and fast service and good food. Very reasonable prices, too.

Where do I start… the big bang shrimp were great! Next follows the seafood gumbo, want more of that. The shrimp and cod combo was perfect. The shrimp and fish are fresh and looked hand battered. Lastly, the chocolate cake finished the meal. Will come back when we are in Sarasota again.

Don’t let the strip mall location deter you from eating at Kacey’s. It’s small and nothing fancy but I was pleasantly surprised by: 1.) The friendly service we received before even walking in the door. 2.) The quality of the food(wild caught fish options). Fresh vegetables. I took of a star because they didn’t have milk or apple juice for my kiddo nor was I a fan of the French fries(the were your basic frozen fries; I expected fresh fries since the other food was so good). Nevertheless, we will return and encourage others to try them out. Thanks to everyone at Kacey’s for the great service!

What a terrific seafood joint! I have driven past this place hundreds of times. Their road sign just says Kacey’s so it is misleading. Thankfully my fellow Unilocalers haven’t mislead me. Their fish is super fresh. The fish n chips is great. Lightly breaded and seasoned well. Their coleslaw is decent, but no one cares about that. All their other fish is brought in fresh daily. Their prices are market value. The service is excellent and attentive. Bottom Line: Stop in and enjoy some fresh fish. There aren’t many places in Sarasota for great seafood and this is definitely one of the rare few.

Amazing seafood restaurant in a strip mall in Sarasota. My husband and I were in town for a week and went there twice… that’s how good the food is. On our first visit, me had two drinks, two appetizers and two main courses for under $ 50. Favorites are the lobster bisque, crab cakes and the coconut shrimp salad but everything we had was good.

A good dinner We arrived about 5:45 and found a busy restaurant with a 20 minute wait for a table. Busy places are often good places. For dinner I had the large Coconut Shrimp Basket, 9 large breaded shrimp with a sweet marmalade dipping sauce. The basket came with slaw and fries. The shrimp were very good, although I didn’t notice anything coconut. I guess the coconut part was just within the marmalade. The slaw and fries were good, the hush puppies not so much. Service was good for as busy as the place was, just a little slow in parts but upbeat and experienced. They have seating inside and out, and we enjoyed the cool breeze. There is a shared parking lot that can be pretty full sometimes, as it was this evening.

The food is great and the prices are very good! Fresh seafood at a reasonable price which seems to be hard to find here in Sarasota they have God baskets as well with shrimp and you get a lot for the money. They are always busy as well.

Sadly, the service is what made this restaurant that we will not return to. We came during what seemed to be a very busy lunch rush. We had a party of six and chose to sat outside. We were helped by who I gathered to be a manager of sorts. My mom asked him to take the order of my 95 year old grandmother first, since she was the guest of honor. He rudely replied that he had been working the restaurant business a long time and he knew how to take orders and it worked best the way he would do it. Now, first, there is NO reason you can’t take the order starting with the guest of honor and move that way, and second, it was more the tone of what he said than anything. Through out the meal, he was brusque and unfriendly, stating repeatedly how he was so good at his job and that’s why he was in charge. Well, sad to say, he managed to screw up my order. I chose not to mention it to him(though I mentioned to the person who brought my meal out) that it wasn’t correct, because he was so proud of himself. The food was ok. The hush puppies and coconut shrimp were good. The salad was mediocore at best. The crab cakes were a bit strange, as there was no lumps of crabs in it.

Went by for the first time yesterday evening, and they were super busy, so it took about a half hour before we could sit and eat. Still worth it– nearly everything we had was fresh and flavorful and masterfully fried. We both really loved their Big Bang Shrimp; it was a starter, and just a perfect medley of sweet and spicy flavors. Get that with the bleu cheese dip(if you like bleu cheese!), you’ll thank me. As for our entrees, my husband had(and really enjoyed) the lobster roll, and I had the fish and chips because I’m categorically unable to visit a seafood place and not order them. As good as they were, I really wish I’d been in the mood to something else; the cod was super tender and the fries were perfect, but it left me wondering how one of their main dishes would have been instead. The next time we visit, I’ll definitely try something with one of their signature sauces

Great Food! We enjoyed every bite. We started with the Lobster Bisque… Great! Creamy! Awesome depth of flavors. We also loved the fried Shrimp Basket and the Coconut Shrimp Basket. Large fresh shrimp. The cocktail sauce was the best I’ve ever had. The Cole Slaw is sweet and fresh. Will be back

this little place is just off Fruitville Road in a strip center. we stopped for a late lunch and the crowd was local and older. bottled beer only and lots of fresh seafood. I had the shrimp po boy. had a lot of shrimp, lightly battered and dressing. too much bread. my husband ordered fish sandwich. everything was good and typical but in a good way. décor is simple and chairs feel like they came out of a fifties home kitchen. they do have dessert but we didn’t order. choc cake and key lime pie were two options I saw flying. this place is worth the stop if you on your way in or out of Sarasota on the North end of town and don’t want fast food or anything from a chain.

This place was very yummy and was surprised with the quality of the food. We had gone here on out way back home and we were starving. I felt that the place was a little out of date but worth the time to come. The staff were on point and very friendly. They knew the menu and the food very well.

Seafood was on our mind and this place popped up on our radar. We decided to check this place out and see for ourselves. We left satisfied and full. It’s a mom/pop place with a small dining room. Our waitress was nice and helped us pick out some nice items. I started with the seafood gumbo which had some spice and was filled with veggies and seafood over rice. It was a nice tuneup for the main course which was the lobster roll. I’ve had better lobster rolls but it tasted fine(I don’t know any places that could ruin lobster). I ordered it with rice pilaf and green beans. They weren’t amazing but sides shouldn’t overwhelm the main course. My brother in law ordered the fish tacos which were huge and he enjoyed them. My dad ordered the mahi povencale which is topped with a lemon wine sauce, olives, capers and tomatoes and comes with rice and veggie medley. He devoured it claiming it was very satisfying; looking at his dish, I probably should’ve ordered that. Overall, it’s a quiet neighborhood spot that isn’t overpriced and has a nice small town feel to it. Stop in here sometime and check it out. The seafood gumbo was probably my favorite item so I recommend that when you stop by.
