Chronic Tacos

Baja sauce on everything. Can’t go wrong with a steak burrito. Taco Tuesday, great deal!

With so many viable (and cheaper) Mexican options I don’t know what possessed me to try this place. I had three tacos that tasted somewhere between Taco Bell and Chipotle. Tacos were overstuffed to the point where everything turns into a mush. If you do eat here do yourself a favor and stick with 1 or 2 (at most) tacos. I had three and I felt like I ate a whole burrito.

I come here a lot for lunch. The line to order your food from 12 – 1 pm can be a nightmare so try coming in before or after this rush hour. Everything tastes great. My favorite is the potato taco. deep fried taco shell with potato inside… mmmmm!

Great staff. Recently tried this place with my boyfriend. We love the tortas. I still have to try the other things to see if I really like this place. Not as good as a torta from Mexico but it was good for an Amercian torta. We will be back.

Hello Unilocal,About four months ago i went to get a chicken burrito at this chronic tacos. my burritos chicken had bones in it that poked into my gums. Luckily the manager was there, he told me he’d give me a refund ON TOP of a burrito free of charge (he blamed the meat producer/​manufacturer) He only gave me a new burrito then proceeded to sit down with some family and friends and ignore my refund. Fast forward 4-​17-​2016 i go to chronic tacos with my girlfriend to get another chicken burrito. The girl with the pink/​blue colored hair starts making my burrito on the dirty cutting board instead of a tray with the wax paper– i didn’t notice until her coworker came out from the back and told her it had to be on a tray, which she proceeded to slide my burrito off the dirty cutting boards– you can see food, dirt, and seemingly other random bacteria in the cuts left by knifes on the cutting board. Since my burrito was double wrapped i asked if she would kindly remove the outer layer that touched the dirty cutting board and she did. Then the two women started speaking in Spanish all of the sudden — thats fine my girlfriend speaks it to but doesn’t look like she does. It turns out the two employees were ridiculing and i quote «shit talking» me for wanted a clean tortilla on my burrito… when my girlfriend heard this and revealed to the women she could speak Spanish all of the sudden they started speaking english again and being very nice. Really rude since she made a very nasty mistake putting my burrito on an unsanitary cutting board and chose to protect her little ego by ridiculing me instead of apologizing.

Love this place! Love the nachos and tortas!!! Geo is the best! Great customer service and food! Always stop by when I’m in Saugus! Took my girlfriend and she loved it as well! And Geo gave us a sample of the churro a they have… they were the best!!! Thanks Geo for giving us a great experience at Chronic Tacos!

I don’t know what happened to their staff… or maybe the people I usually see were off yesterday. The portions were smaller than what I am used to. I felt rushed when telling them what I wanted on my nachos. Also, the people making our order didn’t seem like they knew what they were doing. My sister and I had to repeat what we wanted several times. The guy at the register was rude and seemed like he was over everything.

I went into chronic tacos tonight and there was a huge line.
I work in the industry and I usually don’t do Unilocal reviews. But I’m doing one because I want the manager to see this because I felt bad for the staff.
When I go into a fast casual restaurant and see a long line I take it as a good sign because people like the food. But the reason they should be willing to wait in a long line is the reassurance it will move.
This line was NOT moving. Probably because I only saw three people working in the entire restaurant. I felt bad for the staff. Although service was fantastic and they were all smiling a lot of the other customers were getting testy. I felt bad for them. Saving this much labor isn’t going to matter in the end because service is suffering.
So on top of them being short staffed and busy, they obviously had no time to do anything but work the line. At the freestyle machine almost half the sodas were out. I found one that wasn’t and half way through dispensing it ran out. No napkins, running low on straws etc. I understand why this stuff happens but other people don’t. This isn’t good for business. Probably need to work on that.

My Kids and myself favorite. The help is always nice, and the food great. They let me create my own burritos.

Pretty good! As the name perhaps implies, you’ll enjoy this more if you have sole chronic before coming here ;)

Everytime I come here the staff is always super friendly and attentive, they definately go above and beyond customer service wise. The food is yummy too! I love the churro bites but make sure you get em fresh! Asada frys bomb!!!

Went last night for some carne asada burritos and was really disappointed. Almost every piece of my meat was inedible. I ended up picking all of it and there were maybe five pieces without grizzle. I don’t mind a little fat but, charging extra, please take a little more time to cut the meat right. My dog was happy, I wasn’t.
On the good side, the discount program is awesome. The points add up really fast and I earn $ 10.00 about once a month!
I got the Chronic Fries last night with no toppings. They are yummy skinny fries and have a great seasoning salt.
It also bugs that only one person making your order when there is a long line. Maybe get a few more tortilla warmers? Just sayin… I will be back but not real soon. Still grossed out :(

Tried this place for the second time. I really wanted to like it because it’s within walking distance from my home but the only thing good about this place is the soda machine.
The rice and beans are flavorless and dry. It tastes like they opened up a can of baked beans and microwave rice and served it that way in all 4 orders (2 orders on each visit). Rice and beans are the «bread and butter» of the meal and already I’m disappointed.
The steak and chicken is so bland it threw me off. I never knew that a business could even pass themselves off as «culinary establishment» if they don’t even flavor their food.
I have no hard feelings about this place. I’m just baffled that the food was so bad.

The staff is always friendly and greets you when you walk through the door. The menu is easy to read and the dining room has lots of seating.
The menu offers quick tacos, chips with salsa, tortilla salad and soup. I don’t like ordering the carne asada because I get a lot of fat chunks in it. They have a lot of beverages to select from and it is a clean establishment.

I don’t even know if the food they sell here is considered Mexican food. It’s gross and overpriced. I know chipotle isn’t authentic Mexican food either, but at least chipotle tastes waaaay better for the right price. The staff working there wasn’t friendly either. They just seemed like they wanted to get rid of you. The place was dirty and messy as well.
Just do yourself a favor and don’t waste your time and money. I don’t even know why they opened another one over by newhall ranch…

This place was pretty blah. Black beans way too salty, meat in taquitos had no flavor.
Chicken was also really salty, no real flavor from the meat itself.
I don’t know what’s going on here because this location used to be better.

CHRONIC TOXIC
I came to this joint with my brother and my girlfriend. They ordered a steak California style burrito. I ordered a Californian Burrito with grilled fish. (The fish always takes some extra time).
While I was waiting, The girl at the front asked me if I wanted it Baja style and mentioned the salsa and sauce parts but not cabbage. I can’t have cabbage at all, so when I agreed to this, I wasn’t aware of it. They made it and wrapped it up & brought it to me. I took one bite and realized there was cabbage in it. I brought it back to them and they said they would remake another. I felt bad but I was puzzled on why I wasn’t able to tell them if I wanted pico, cilantro or Guac in it…
So I waited for over 10 min for the second one, which they came to my table with an already wrapped up again. I thought this was strange. I still didn’t even get to tell them what i wanted it… So then the guy relizes that it wasn’t supposed to be mine after all, so he took the burrito back right away… And said it will be ready in 5… I went up to wait in line again & then told them what I would like to have in it once it was presented in the frontline. I was served and went on to eat it.
4 hours later I come down with a serious headache and my body was feeling feverishly sensitive. I had a mere thought of food poisoning but my brother and gf had not felt sick…
I didn’t even eat anything since the burrito and I felt severely sickened all night. I could not even sleep with my stomach all messed up. I ended up getting violently sick — throwing up everything at 1 AM. I am sleeping upright with no comfort. I feel like I’ve been poisoned. I will never go to this location or trust this place with fish again. I am severely traumatized. I strongly believe the fish was bad or maybe they did something to my food since I complained. It’s now 2 AM & My brother and girlfriend both are totally fine, sleeping soundly with no side effects, neither of them had any fish here and they both seem OK. I however, have had nothing to eat but rice soup today, while feeling queasy and dizzy.
The rest of whatever remainder in my guts, decided to go raging waters on me through the emergency exit later throughout the day. Still not completely better yet. :(

Expensive as heck. Food is okay, Not authentic by any means. Not so friendly, I dont think they speak much english. great beverage dispenser but thats about it.
I will have to be desparate to go back.

It’s a taco place. Build your own (burrito, taco, salad, etc.), I figured out. Not bad or great. The service was good, but we had a lady who ordered a good number of items leaving us to wait maybe 15 minutes before actually ordering ourselves.
Not healthy. Not that you’d expect it with the name, but FYI, this is not the place to come if you’re on a diet.

Never coming back here again. Save your time, money, and stomachs. The so-​called carne asada is made of INNARDS (unless you like that nasty stuff). Disgusting!
To top it off, their Horchata is stale tasting. It tastes like it’s been sitting in a container for awhile, too gross!!!
