Always looking for a good Italian Bakery. I saw that they opened a bakery in Danvers Square. Today, I stopped by the Danvers location to pick up a pastry or two to check it out. I got a Neopolitan and a piece of coconut cake. What a let down. The layers in the Neopolitan were wilted and not crispy at all and the cream was dried up. Yuk. The Coconut Cake was stale. So disappointed.

I recently went to the new Esposito’s in Danvers. I bought a rum cake for $ 29.95 a bit pricey I thought. Got home and had a slice of cake. The chocolate and vanilla layers were very skimpy. Also instead of strawberries the filling was a very bitter red paste. Horrible to say the least. Some of the red«whatever it was» got on my fingers and it looked like red food coloring die. Never again.

I needed basic white bread for a recipe and this bakery was on my way home, so I popped in today. Awesome bread selection and the loaf I picked(basic white Pullman loaf) was almost wasted in the meatloaf I made! Will definitely be using the rest for sandwiches — perfect loaf for grilled cheese. I also picked up a treat. I’m a sucker for coconut cake so when I saw it in the case I just couldn’t resist. The cake was amazing. The cake itself was moist and very simply flavored, so that the coconut frosting could shine. The frosting itself was so heavenly light — it had a whipped texture but tasted more like a coconut buttercream. The flaked coconut on the outside of the cake was fresh, and it was very simply decorated. I saw some other really lovely cakes and will definitely be calling back here for future events. The decoration is a step up from most bakeries(no Disney plastic figures stuck in the cake here!) For the other complaints here about pricing, what the heck do you expect? I paid $ 20 for the cake which was VERY reasonable for the quality. Freshly made baked goods, especially ones with this level of detail and decoration, don’t come cheap! If you want cheap, go to Costco. This bakery was clean, the girl working the counter was friendly and gave us plenty of time to decide what we wanted, and there’s plenty of parking. I’ll definitely be back.

Will never purchase from Esposito ‘s ever again. $ 3.50 for a turkey decorated cupcake is ridiculous. I left there with a cake decorated w a turkey and 5 cupcakes. 5 cupcakes were close to 20 bucks. The two females working on 11÷25÷15 were very rude and I felt extremely rushed. Pace’s and Farmland have much better customer service and prices.

My girlfriend has been picking up rolls and pastries from this place lately, and they have been a big hit with both of us. On Easter morning, we were looking for a cake to bring to a family gathering and decided to give Esposito’s a try in that department as well. We went with a rum cake because of the beautiful frosting job, with an enormous flower and chopped nuts decorating the edges. It was a gorgeous cake and a great centerpiece for our Easter table. It tasted delicious, and the cake was unbelievably moist. Would return, and would recommend a friend.

We were having a dinner party and our normal«go to» bakery was on vacation. This bakery just opened nearby and we thought we would give it a try. We decided on a sampler box to see what they had to offer. Forewarned, I am not a fan of overly sweet Italian pastries. I prefer a fresh cannoli filled with ricotta that tastes more of cheese than sugar. Of course, just filled so it’s nice and crunchy. Everything pointed to a nice experience when I walked in the door. The smell inside was delightfully intoxicating and the décor was cute with a nice glass display of their goods. They also sold cold cuts, pan pizza and other Italian specialties. They had a small refrigerated section selling calzones and other items to take home and reheat. The place was busy, especially among the older crowd. No hipsters here. I bought two tiramasu and two other desserts whose names I could not pronounce. They looked wonderful. Service was friendly and the women behind the counter were very helpful. The price was surprisingly reasonable and the pastries were boxed up in the ubiquitous white box. We bought them around 1PM and ate them after dinner around 7. The tiramasu was the best of the bunch. The other two pastries were either not fresh or did did not hold up well in the fridge. They were soft and mushy. Worse was the way everything tasted the same — overpoweringly sweet but strangely bland at the same time. Bummer. Needless to say I whipped up some crème brûlée for our dinner party. We will probably try it again just to be sure, but right now I’ll wait for our bakery to come back from vacation.
