After two years of anticipation, we finally made it to this place! Very much a hole in the wall — you might pass it if you’re not looking. The menu isn’t too extensive, but all the choices are good. Got the BBQ brisket plate with BBQ beans and coleslaw. Bbq was very tasty, not the best I’ve had but very good. Coleslaw was mustard-based so wasn’t the biggest fan. All in all, would recommend!

Missed visiting this hidden treasure the last time I visited savannah, sure glad I got to eat there this visit. Delicious and very easy on the pocketbook. Had the pulled pork with angels BBQ house sauce, was so yummy I was literally licking the my fingers when I was finished. Not much eat in area but well worth finding a spot to sit under the beautiful tree canopy to enjoy.

Being from South Texas Real BBQ is held close to my heart. Second I m a proponent of Beef Brisket over pulled pork and in Georgia and Carolina that can be a little hard to come by. However this little gem called Angles BBQ was fantastic. Although difficult to locate, the hunt was well worth it. The menus is basic and to the point(Remember your there for BBQ). It includes either pork or beef and a few traditional side items that are fresh and homemade. The restaurant itself is built for take out with only 3 or 4 tables for the select few. Alternatively there is a beautiful square very close for outdoor dining and soaking in the beautiful and historical vibes of downtown Savannah’s historical district. Angles offers several homemade sauces including a Memphis style sweet, tangy mustard base, vinegar based, and their spicy Angle Drop. I choose the beef brisket with fries and cole slaw. Overall a bit small(sort of a whole in the wall) late 80’s décor but pretty darn good food. Check it out!

Loved how authentic this little bbq shack was and their large selection of sauces! The sweet bbq was my favorite. Wish they had a larger selection of choices though. For meat they only had pulled pork or brisket and for sides had Mac and cheese, fries, baked beans, slaw and collards. We tried everything except the slaw and it was all good. The collards were very unique, cooked with peanuts so they had a distinct peanut flavor and were a little creamy. Everything else but good but nothing outstanding, pretty general for BBQ food!

Excellent pulled pork and mac & cheese. Cheap price and the lady behind the cash register and cook were super nice as well. Try it out! Next time im in Savannah Ill definitely be back

It was okay BBQ but does not live up to its fame. I had the pulled pork sandwich and while it was acceptable, it wasn’t as good as other BBQ in town. The sandwich had good flavor but was a bit dry so I had to add a lot of the sauce to get the taste right.

MMMMMMM. After our tour guide had mentioned this place, I automatically bookmarked it and had to come here. I’m not even a huge bbq person, but it was GREAT! I got the brisket and the pulled pork. I preferred the brisket, but they were both good. I loved playing around with the different sauces. The place itself is small and dirty, but I guess it gives it character. I’m so glad they were open and had ‘cue for us to try that day. Mac and cheese was also quite tasty.

We. Loved. This. Place. After a short stay in Savannah, and then a shorter stay in Atlanta, we found ourselves back in this city by the sea! Our tour guide, Kathy of All About Savannah Private Tours, suggested Angel’s Barbecue while we were on her tour earlier in the week. Since we were back in Savannah and it was lunchtime, we thought we would give it a try; and Angel’s came through! The food — seriously great barbecue. This is definitely some artisanal, tried and true barbecue. We sampled the brisket as well as the pulled pork with their array of surprisingly different barbecue sauces. The brisket was great — trimmed neatly, hickory-smoked, and dusted in a really great dry rub. The pulled pork was just as tasty! Moist and smoky, just as it should be. My wife went head-over-heels for the macaroni and cheese, as well! The service — this husband and wife team brings an air of Savannahian charm to the table… literally. We were greeted cheerfully, walked through the menu, and made some great conversation with these two as we enjoyed our meal. The atmosphere — SUPER fun. Eclectic wall art and hanging trinkets make Angel’s seem like a local favorite. You get the impression that each decoration has its own little story, and that adds to the charm of this place. The seating, like most restaurants in the historic district, is pretty cramped. We counted 13 seats inside spread among 3 tables. But with the quick service and great food, people are able to get in and out with relative ease If you’re a barbecue fan, Angel’s is definitely a must-stop spot. Check the box and enjoy the best barbecue in Savannah. Allons-y!

Excellent pulled pork here. Only qualms: styrofoam and no beer.

I’m going with 4 stars here– my husband would have given it a 5 and I a 3 so we will split the difference. This place is what I would think of when I hear the word dive restaurant. There is seating for about 10 people– and it didn’t really feel super clean in certain areas. However, the bbq was done perfectly. My husband loved the spicy peanut sauce and the Z labeled(we can’t remember the exact name) mustard based sauce. He also enjoyed his mac and cheese sauce. The location of this restaurant almost makes it feel like a «hidden» experience– it was fun to check it out. Oh– and don’t forget– they only stay open as long as they have bbq available!

The food at Angel’s BBQ was delicious! I tried the BBQ Beef Brisket Sandwich, Mac and Cheese, and Collard Greens with Peanuts. The Beef Brisket was tender and juicy and the house sauce was the perfect compliment to the meat adding just a hint of tomato flavor. The Mac and Cheese was delicious with soft noodles and flavorful cheese. The Collard Greens were perfectly cooked and the peanuts added a nice unique crunch and flavor. Angel’s BBQ is definitely worth a visit for anyone who enjoys good BBQ.

This was the best barbecue that the wife and I tasted in Savannah. We are Voting it best barbecue. This is a no frills place. You order at the counter and the cashier brings you the order. We each ordered the pulled pork sandwich. The meat was tender and delicious. The house barbecue sauce was the best of a few options. The sides here, unlike anywhere else in Savannah, were good. The wife had cole slaw and I had the baked beans. The beans were perfectly flavored/smoky. We got lucky to get food at all. I heard a local say that she hadn’t been able to get any barbecue recently due to problems including a malfunctioning smoker. Hopefully these problems have been resolved because food here is so good. Service was simple, but efficient and friendly. We will be back here the next time we’re in town.

I was told to try Angel’s because it’s run by a friend of my friend’s. I will now tell everyone I know who are going to be in Savannah to go there, because it’s excellent! The ultimate dive with gourmet BBQ! The owners are the nicest people, and their restaurant is great! Loved the brisket!

Great BBQ and sides! The husband and I ventured here while in Savannah for a conference. This place is off the main road(I would call it an alley). Angel’s had a yellow flag with«BBQ» on it hanging outside. Look for that and you’ve found it. Also of note: there were very few tables inside and it didn’t appear to be air conditioned. It wasn’t a problem for us since we took everything to-go and enjoyed eating on a bench at a nearby square. The meat here was good. I tried the pulled pork. I really liked the tangy sauce which I believe is closest to a carolina mustard sauce. This sauce is unlike anything I have ever tried. I highly recommend it. The sides were amazing. The baked beans were well seasoned and definitely not boring. We also tried the collard greens with peanuts which were collards with this great nutty flavor. The mac and cheese was creamy and cheesy. And the cole slaw was homemade. I think it was dressed with both mayonnaise and mustard.

So had to find a place to eat lunch while I was in town. I am a big fan of BBQ so I am always on a hunt to find the«best» BBQ. With that said this is a nice small hole in wall BBQ spot in the middle of the city. In fact with all my trips here it is my first time eating here. It is tucked back on an ally so if you aren’t on foot get out and walk around this great city and enjoy a great lunch here. So this place is not like your normal BBQ spot with a large selection. But I can vouch for their pulled pork sandwich(topped with slaw) and would say get this. It is a great sandwich and could eat at least one daily and not be sad for the rest of my life. And that is just the plan sandwich, want to make it better add one of the many sauces they hear to choose from. Half way through I started adding«house sauce». This has some great flavor with no real heat. Next time I will have to add some heat but even this sauce is something special. So if you are in town and looking for some good BBQ stop by and enjoy this little southern gem.

This place came highly recommended as a place to eat in Savannah, and I was kinda disappointed. It was definitely not one of the culinary highlights in Savannah. The lady at the counter was super nice and friendly. The place itself literally has seating for 10 people. 10. It was cold inside of the restaurant if you were sitting near any of the«windows»(boarded up sides of the building, which I suppose are beautiful screens to a porch like atmosphere in the warmer months, but in February it was pretty chilly). The pork was eh. I’ve had better. The beans and mac and cheese were good, but again nothing to really write home about. The plate was about $ 11 and there were free refills on tea. For a cheap lunch, I would stop in if you’re really craving BBQ, but otherwise probably not.

Awesome BBQ. Walked here on a sunny Savannah day with friends while we were in town visiting. I like that it’s off the beaten path and doesn’t have an obnoxious large sign outside, kind of a hidden gem. Pulled pork plate with beans and fries hit the spot! The sweet Memphis sauce was tasty too. My friends had the faux-Q which they said was great. Even the 80s music was good! I’d definitely come back. Update: just ordered another round of fries, so good.

Angel’s is the literal«hole in the wall» restaurant. You can easily miss this place while walking but once you find it, you will be in BBQ heaven! Don’t be fooled by the cramped interior. Their small kitchen can whip up some awesome BBQ!

Order at the counter; wait a bit for the chef to plate your food. Fries are done to order. A few tables; must do a lot of takeout. Liked the brisket, the pulled pork was OK. Liked the bbq beans. Greens and mac & cheese were OK. Cute place but the food does not live up to it’s reputation.
