Got the free pork sandwich for checking in! It was delicious as were the fried ocra, collards with pepper sauce, and corn fritters and 3 $ margarita.

Thursday at 8pm there were two couples and myself. The ribs were tough and overcooked The beans were like those ones where they scrape the bottom almost and you can taste charcoal like flavor it was so close to the heat. It took almost 30 minutes until the server Processed my tab after putting my card out and even then didn’t see it until he came by to top off drinks.

Perfectly adequate ‘Q not next level but not bad either. I was there at lunch and got the rib and fry basket their fryer was down so I got mashed potatoes instead. I’m not one to slather my ‘Q in sauce so I got them dry rubbed and added sauce. The potatoes were the way I like them buttery and rustic that is to say there are bits of skin in them and they’re not mashed to the point of being creamy. The ribs were ok perhaps a little on the dry side. The sauces were good but not exceptional. Unlike another reviewer the ribs didn’t strike me as particularly big. I’ll be back to eat around the menu a bit more. I’m open to adding another star, we’ll see.

I’m giving 2 stars because their Mac n cheese was AMAZING and I liked their BBQ sauce. I ordered the baby back ribs and it was so dry. I couldn’t eat it. I boxed it up for my dad who could smother anything in hot sauce and enjoy it. I was bummed because the BBQ sauce on the ribs was really delicious. My boyfriend got the big-b sandwich. Beef brisket, crispy onions, and pepper jack cheese. Sounds delicious right? No. The brisket wasn’t cut thin or chopped. It was huge chunks of DRYDRYDRY meat. Even my dry wet ribs were more moist than the bricks on his sandwich. What a shame. I really wanted some good BBQ before I left Georgia and headed back home to California :/

We had an amazing lunch at this BBQ joint just before we left Savannah. The minute you park in their private lot, you smell the wood fire ovens cooking the amazing BBQ you’re going to eat. We sat down and we each ordered a half rack of ribs. Thankfully I didn’t order a full rack because the portions are huge. To give you an idea, one rib equals about 3 or 4 ribs you get at a Tony Roma’s or one of the other chains. The meat was tender, very juicy and cooked to perfection. The BBQ sauce is sweet but not overly sweet and its homemade. They offer two sides with your meal and I recommend the corn on the cob which was flavorful, fresh and cooked just right! Our server was very nice and the food came out in a matter of minutes. After having had bad luck at other restaurants throughout our visit to Savannah, we were craving great service and great food and we got both at Bub-Ba-Q. They have a very large tent next to the side entrance which can hold probably 100+ guests. There’s also a stage under the tent and I imagine they have live entertainment on weekends or holidays. They offer a full bar which is always a plus. They have many of the awards hanging on the wall and in front of the windows. This place is open on Sundays which was perfect for us. Many of the BBQ places in Savannah are closed on Sundays and that just seems very strange to me but I guess there’s a reason I’m not aware of.

Stopped in here for lunch with my honey. I was elated as I saw this was on food network and I can see why. We were greeted by a sweet waitress who started off us with some delicious pork cracklings. We began with pork nachos which were humonGous. Had we known we would’ve just ordered our entrees. Any-who after looking at the menu for quite a bit I decided upon a rib and chicken platter with fried okra and coleslaw for sides. My sweetie ordered the chimi on ga which was a burrito deep fried stuffed with pulled pork, cheese and beans. The cheese was non existent which was dissappointing. He enjoyed it thoroughly along with the huge sweet tea the waitress refilled for him. I thought the ribs were delicious and since it was a dry rub, I was able to choose what sauce I would like to douse it in, whether it be mustard or sweets and spicy. In my opinion it was a bit tough and it didn’t fall off the bones. I had to rip the meat off the bone but it was still moist. Overall the bbq was great I will be back to try something else!!!

First time at Bubba Q. The corn fritters were great. Crunchy and slightly sweet. I am not a fan of fried pickles but these were pickle spears and they were good. Not too salty. The chicken was moist. Make sure and tell them if you want your ribs without sauce. Mine came with sauce on them. They had live music outside. Cool looking venue. I’ll probably go back.

I guess they only strive for championship BBQ when they are competing. The food was ok but about on par with other chain BBQ joints. Maybe today’s batch was smoked a little to long or hot. My half rack was good but surprisingly dried out. Smothering them with sauce helped. The dry rub is good and probably really sets off some moist smoked ribs. The chopped pork was also dry. The Brisket was amazing and cooked very well. So was the chicken. Our group enjoyed the app sampler especially the pork changa thing.

I came here because I love finding the best BBQ in the south and had heard hype about this location. I was hoping that I could add another joint to my «Best BBQ» list, but sadly Bub-Ba-Q didn’t live up to the hype. Don’t get me wrong, this place isn’t bad. Our table nearly exhausted the menu: pulled pork on a bun and loose, ribs, brisket, and the chicken. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t life altering. I felt like everything was just a bit dry. Flavors were there, but the dry essential took away from what should have been cascades of juicy flavor dripping down my chin. I thought the chicken was the best of all the meats I tired, but my table disagreed, giving the dry rub rubs 5 stars. The addition of any of the sauces was a good decision too. The sides were good, but mostly felt generic, even store bought. The macaroni and cheese bites I’m pretty sure we’re just fried Easy Mac, so I’m not sure why everyone else is raving about them. Other than that, I think you can’t really bash them too much, I managed to eat them all.

You know, for all the hype, maybe my standards were too high. This place was good, but I guess with all the awards I thought it would be something different. We came in on a Monday, and they seemed very understaffed with one bartender and one server. The server, Emily, was very nice, although she became very overwhelmed when there were 7 – 8 tables and she was the only server. When we went to pay, we wanted to use a discount. Because we used a discount, they changed the price of the daily special so it was full priced, so we actually didn’t really save any money. Because Emily was so busy, we also waited 10 minutes for the manager to re-ring in the check because we wanted to use a discount. All in all, the food was good and I would come back, but the management did not fulfill their job in staffing the establishment to allow the servers to give their best service to make the meal enjoyable.

Hard to believe there were so few reviews on Unilocal, although there are more for their other two locations, in Woodstock and Jasper. Anyway, we asked locals for BBQ recommendations in Savannah. Angel’s came up first. Good thing I called them, because they chose not to open today because of a cat emergency(true). The second place was closed on Tuesdays. The third, Wall’s, is only open on weekends. Wow, it’s hard to track down BBQ in Savannah! So we landed on Bub-Ba-Q, despite them being unknown to the locals. Great choice. Everything was excellent. My spouse had the Tuesday night special, which was 3 pulled pork tacos and $ 3 margarita. I had the half-rack of baby back ribs, with sides of baked beans and cole slaw. The ribs were incredibly meaty and tender, some of the best I have ever tasted. There was so much meat that a half rack was very filling. The baked beans were spectacular, better than those that I make, sending me back to the drawing board. The only so-so item was some Texas toast — they should have supplied cornbread or a biscuit. All-in-all, a 5-star experience.

Their bbq is tasty especially the bbq pulled pork. The sweet bbq sauce is way better then a lot of other bbq sauces I have tasted. However, their ribs are dry and need to be thoroughly rubbed with bbq sauce inside. Friendly server, good food. I would recommend this place to friends.

Went here with a super cute date the other night and was super impressed with the BBQ. Dry rubbed with plenty of sauces to try. Spicy, sweet, vinegar, mixed. Super good. I was definitely impressed and we both left smiling. The sides were also really good. Fried Mac n Cheese, Collard Greens, and biscuits. MMMMM. The décor is really nice. It felt like we were outside even though we were sitting inside. The outside is super chill too, with a roof but open air, and also tables in a quaint little garden area too. Booze License is still pending.

Caught them on an off night this past weekend, but still left with happy tastebuds. Service wasn’t as great as it has been in the past, but as all new businesses to town have, I think they were going through some growing pains. Will definitely return and give them another shot. The owner, Bubba is super personable and without making excuses for my recent visit, was very appreciative of my feedback and is working hard to make Bub-Ba-Q a Savannah favorite! P. S. My husband is from Eastern NC and knows his BBQ– the ribs and pulled pork are mighty hard to beat!

I had to come online and share my experience about this place. It only had 4 reviews, but I figured, what the hey, why not. This place was fantastic. The employees there were very friendly, and I was excited to just have some good olé fashioned Q. We started off with the appetizers, fried mac & cheese and burnt ends. They were absolutely delicious. The burn ends are covered with their in house sweet BBQ sauce, and melted right in your mouth. My main course was the chicken and ribs. The chicken was incredible. Fell right off the bone, moist, and full of flavor. The ribs were the same way. I prefer them dry, and they were perfect. The mashed potatoes had a little bit of a sweet flavor which was different, but was great. I highly, highly recommend this place. Was our first visit to Savannah, and will definitely be a regular stop every time we come back.

Only giving 4 stars because we didn’t sample the rest of the menu. My fiancée and I were craving some bbq and no other places were open on Monday or close enough so we decided to stop here. The pictures do the menu justice, everything is just a tasty as the pictures look. We both got the lunch special of pork sandwich/drink/side and it was exactly what we were looking for! The meat was fantastic, a bountiful sauce selection, and the sides were perfect. Please give this joint a shot, they really deserve the business!
