Great food! Fun atmosphere. I LOVED the shrimp au gratin! I would recommend if you’re looking for a good restaurant on river street in Savannah!

My family and I came here on a rainy Thursday for dinner. We had low expectations because of some reviews, but were pleasantly surprised. I had the fried shrimp, my boyfriend the Reuben, and my parents both had hamburgers. Everything was great from the sauces to the food. I will try this place again.

A group of girlfriends and I took a weekend trip to Savannah for a bachelorette party/weekend. We got in around 6pm from driving and we’re all very hungry. We unpacked and freshened up and went down to River Street to find a spot for dinner. Lucky for us we easily saw Barracuda Bob’s, skimmed the menu, and put our name in. Also lucky for us, the wait for a table for 8 was only 30 – 45 min. So we wandered River Street until we had to go back. Once we were seated we all had trouble deciding what we wanted to order because it all looked and sounded delicious! We started with a round of drinks, of course. I got the«Stay Classy, Savannah» cocktail, which was prosecco, ruby red vodka and a blackberry garnish. It was delicious! As far as food went, we all went a little crazy. In our group we ordered everything from fettuccini Alfredo with chicken to Alaskan crab legs. I ordered the crab cake appetizer and split the pepper jack bacon cheese fries with a friend. Everything from the food to the service to the drinks was great and super accommodating. Definitely recommend Barracuda Bob’s for anyone visiting Savannah!

Phenomenal. Had the jambalaya pasta and it was enough for 2 people and left overs. My date had the shrimp and grits and the shrimp(8) were massive. She ate two and has enough for a couple of meals. My only issue was the calamari, it was greasy and not crispy at all. Though it does come with bits of honeyed bacon, corn, and scallions. Service was great. Overall, would highly recommend this place.

What seafood restaurant in the SOUTH doesn’t serve husk puppies?! My wife ordered the crab au gratin with mashed potatoes. The potatoes were dry and old, and the crab au gratin was bland! My oysters were ok, but I’ve had better, and the coleslaw was laughable! Do not go to this place!

We walked in on a Thursday evening and after being warmly welcomed by a friendly team, were sat right away. My husband ordered the pasta gumbo and I had the chicken club sandwich. The portions were hearty, my husband couldn’t even finish his pasta dish! The pasta gumbo looked very fresh, was filled with seafood. My chicken club looked like a work of art. The bacon on it was thick, healthy, and delicious! I would strongly recommend the hearty chicken club sandwich. The service was quick and friendly. We would go here again!

The food was OK. Nothing special. We arrived here looking for outdoor seating but there wasn’t any offered even though Unilocal there was. Shrimp po-boy and crab cakes were nothing spectacular. They came with tartar sauce rather than remoulade which seemed odd to me. We arrived about 7:00 p.m. and they were already out of the BBQ ribs which were on special. Our waitress then revealed they were leftover from a festival earlier the weekend before. Our waitress was fantastic probably the best part of the experience.

I don’t post a lot of 2 star reviews, but when Unilocal reminded me of its description(«Meh. I’ve experienced better») I thought. «yes, that sums it up.» We didn’t have a bad experience at Barracuda Bob’s, but I feel like we maybe chose poorly from all the seafood places on River St. We were pretty underwhelmed, especially with all the glowing reviews. The food was ok, but only just. We shared the fried green tomatoes and tuna tartare, which was alright but not mind blowing. I had the pecan encrusted Carolina red trout which was probably the highlight of the meal. She had the Pan-Seared Sea Scallops which were over-cooked and rubbery. All told our bill ran upwards of $ 100 between two people and I feel like we didn’t get a $ 100 meal. Service, however, was quite good and our waitress was friendly and attentive. I used the restroom and it was very clean.

The poboy shrimp was huge. We had to eat it with the shrimp in the side. It was good. The lump crab sandwich was good and super filling. The fries and pickle wet every tasty. The pimento cheese burger was messy. The cheese essentially slide off the burger after each bite. It was ok. The grilled chicken sandwich was on the bland side. The waitress was super helpful and friendly. The kitchen was timely. Refills were slow.

Meh. I was really excited to try this place based on reviews, but my food and experience was just okay and mediocre-ish. I ordered the fried green tomatoes, a cup of alligator gumbo, and the shrimp and grits. Although I prefer fried green tomatoes to be breaded and fried, these ones were battered & fried and super yummy. The alligator gumbo was way to salty. And last but not least, the dish that confused the heck out of me was the shrimp and grits. I’m a newbie to the Southern shrimp & grits scene but this dish was so different than any other shrimp & grits dish I had. The grits in this dish tasted like polenta, and it even had the texture of polenta. The shrimps were really buttery, big, juicy and delish ! I was so confused when I was eating my shrimp & grits because of the grits, and really wanted to call it shrimp & polenta. Now, would I come again? Yes! Especially if I was craving seafood. Would I order the shrimp & grits or alligator gumbo again? Probably not.

Pretty good spot by the river. It’s definitely a chill place to eat and drink. I thought the cocktail drinks were a tad pricey. The crab dip was good & the shrimp and grits were good but oily. The shrimp were tough too. The flavor was great though! Our server was nice but a bit absent and we kept asking food runner for things. Worth a try but a little pricey.

This place was a huge disappointment. The food was just plain, for the price I expected something better. We got the salmon, the tuna bites, tuna burger with fries and salmon po boy and a rice dish with fish. The tuna bites were pretty salty and everything just sadly bland.

You MUST request Katelynn! She handled or party of six bumbling tourists with grace and laughter. The cheese fries are da bomb, chicken wings too. No one was unhappy with their meal choices and the drinks were prompt. Thank you, K!

Barracuda Bob’s is one of the many restaurants that line River Street along old town Savannah’s waterfront. It is a bit newer and glossed than many of the places. The menu is seafood, gumbo, salads etc. We started with the fried green tomatoes and the gator chunks. The tomatoes were thicker cut than mom’s, but ok. The gator chunks were battered and deep fried with a nice spicy sauce. My wife had the blackened mahi fish tacos. The mahi was served as big chunks, the tortillas were a bit undercooked. No decent salsa or hot sauce was available. I had a bowl of the gator gumbo, which was spicy, but a bit overdone. The Ceasar salad I had with it was ok, but not great. Our drinks were good, and the menu showed a full bar with a great selection of beers. At least 20 of the beers are on tap. The service was quick and attentive, from the hostess to our waiters, everyone was friendly and glad to make suggestions.

If you have kids, this is the place to go, pretty standard fare and lots of wooden tables well spaced. The food was bland and the fried green tomatoes were too thick cut to be cooked through properly. The best item was the seafood cheese tortellini and lots of it, but the Cajun cream was light on flavor. The fries were pretty good. Lots of other choices along River St with a little more ambiance and flavor.

You know you’re not into sports when you book yourself a business trip on Super Bowl Sunday. Hence, I found myself in Savannah all by my lonesome for work and in need of dinner this past Sunday. First of all, I’m sure that River Street is to Savannah as Market Street is to Charleston(translation: locals don’t go there). However, I was taking advantage of being a tourist in my sleepy neighbor city to the South. Most of the restaurants were completely dead, but Barracuda Bob’s had a reasonable crowd both in the dining room and at the bar. I figured that had to be a good sign and wandered in. Thankfully my intuition turned out to be very correct. The atmosphere of Barracuda Bob’s is typical refined casual seafood spot. They had my favorite Whitehaven sauvignon blanc for $ 8 a glass and my bartender had a very heavy pour. Go sports! She was also very pleasant and only into the Super Bowl for the halftime show. Go Bruno! For dinner, I opted for the red snapper special. It was a very hearty serving of snapper paired with mashed potatoes and shoestring vegetables. The whole meal was fresh and flavorful and certainly healthier than the chicken wings I would have been having at a Super Bowl party. All and all, I was very pleasantly surprised by this River Street find and will be back to Barracuda Bob’s for sure. It’s a solid find of traditional seafood amongst a sea of bad fried food and frozen drinks. Definitely worth checking out.

This place was fantastic! I visited this place purely by coincidence. My family and I drove to Savannah, GA from Tennessee on New Years Eve and we were hungry, walking down River Street, checking out the menus of the various restaurants along the strip. I went in to this one based on the menu and the favorable reviews found here on Unilocal. My! I’m so glad I can count on my fellow Unilocalers to post accurate, honest reviews that helped me find this place! We started at the bar and you know that they are really special, that when I asked for a screwdriver the squeezed fresh oranges to make it! Wow! Never had that done before. The taste is so different and from now on, this is what I’m drinking at home. I ordered the Shrimp and Grits… taking a chance because all the experience I have ever had with grits are the tasteless variety usually served at breakfast but man was I surprised by the rich taste and creaminess of these grits! They were so tasty! Soft and full of flavor and the shrimps were perfectly cooked. The portions were enormous and could only finish half of this plate. Everyone else was completely happy and satisfied with their food. If you ever find yourself in Savannah, give this restaurant a try. I recommend them.

My boo and I wanted to celebrate a special night at a place known for great, fresh seafood. Thanks to Unilocal we found this gem! They offer a rustic décor that’s perfect for a down home meal or a date night. We started with the famous tuna bites– these where fantastic. My date got the trio — perfectly grilled scallops shrimp and crab cake with mashed potatoes and asparagus. He licked his plate clean. I got the shrimp and grits that everyone loves. These are great, a little to cheesy for me but overall a great pick.

Barracuda Bob’s is a touristy seafood restaurant located on the riverfront in downtown Savannah. It’s not too far from a lot of bars, a candy store, and the starting point of Savannah’s famous ghost tours. The restaurant has a very large seafood selection. There are, of course, fried seafood platters. Other dishes include parmesan crusted fish, shrimp and grits, and a grilled seafood trio. My group had eaten a large lunch, so we decided to only order drinks and appetizers. We ordered five appetizers — the crab dip, peel and eat shrimp, gator tail, mussels, and the blackened tuna bites. My friend was not impressed with his vodka cocktail. Unfortunately, it seemed that the chef was too liberal with the salt that night in all of the dishes. This is a shame, because the seasonings and sauces would have been good with less salt. The mussels had a tasty rosemary accented broth. The blackened tuna bites had a nice blend of seasonings. With less salt, I would have really enjoyed these appetizers. I needed to drink a lot of water with my dinner. I’ve noticed that some places in Savannah have a funky taste in the water, which was a little more apparent in this particular restaurant. Maybe the entrees are better than the appetizers here. I’d ask for less salt.
