The service was great and the waitress was super nice, even brought our dog some water. Service was a little slow due to a large party but the waitress told us in advance it would be a small wait. Now the food… nothing amazing but not bad either. Coming from Louisiana it doesn’t compare to home but fried shrimp and crawfish had a decent flavor. Looks like a fun place to come have drinks though but probably only get appetizers.

I honestly don’t know where to start. My spouse and I live in Atlanta and we visit Savannah often. This is by far the worst seafood we have ever had the privilege to taste. For starters, the crawfish that are advertised as a pound weren’t actually a pound. We literally weighed the to go carton with the crawfish and corn in it and it didn’t equal a pound. The crawfish tasted as if they were very old. They didn’t come out of the shell correctly which indicates that they weren’t cooked right. I fully understand why there was nobody in there when I picked up my food. It is simply terrible and I would not recommend them to my worst enemy. This is the first time that I’ve ever written a review on Unilocal.Bayou café was just that terrible, that I had to warn others. They should be ashamed to even associate their name with a bayou because that ISNOT how Cajun food is supposed to tasted. The house salad was decent though.

Service was great and when we came their was live music. It is very small inside with not much space. There is also limited bar seating and some outdoor seating as well. There is a wide menu selection from seafood, chicken, burgers. It was a great experience and would come back again however it would have to be at a time when not as crowded

Walkin on the river front on what i guess is a slow Thursday, we heard some pretty jumpin music. Upon further investigation, JACKPOT! Great sounding band in the EXACT environment that would cater to that style of blues. The food looked awsome but we had just ate. The crowd was older, touristy types. Easy to get a beer tho. Nice place, guna prob. Eat here next time

Great place! After leaving Spanky’s disappointed and still hungry, we ventured back to this place that caught my eye on our walk up and down Bay St. It was nearly 10pm, but the bartender upstairs assured us the kitchen was still open. We ordered shrimp scampi, and a mahi mahi sandwich with fries. The portion sizes were great. The shrimp scampi was super garlicky and YUMMY. We ordered it with pasta, but got rice. That was the only bad thing about it. The sauce was delish, the cornbread was so good — my sister didn’t even let me try it. The mahi mahi sandwich was a little overcooked, but the fries had great seasoning, as did the sandwich. While we waited for our food there was fabulous live music in the bar downstairs. Good cost, great favored food, amazing live music.

Not bad. My husband was craving Cajun, not something our boys and I really care for, but we decided to give it a shot for his sake. Youngsters ordered chicken tenders and shrimp baskets which they really enjoyed. I ordered BBQ and potato salad. The potato salad wasn’t very good but the BBQ had a good flavor. Husband really liked his gumbo, red beans and rice and étouffée. Not a bad place to visit.

Has that great dive bar feel to it. Good music choices. Bartender, Jordan, was friendly and on top of the service the entire time. Now let’s talk food, it was gooooood! We just ordered a ton of appetizers. Fried crawfish, peel and eat shrimp, jalapeño poppers, and fries. All of it was damn good! Their signature hot sauce is delicious. We ate all of this for less than $ 30. I have a feeling this place is mega fun at night. If you’re looking for upscale, this isn’t for you. If you’re looking for fun atmosphere and really good food, this is your place.

The atmosphere of this place is really great. They also have a great music choice which isn’t to bad when you’re having a meal. The Cajun & Creole selection is great and me being born and raised in Louisiana I always look for places like this. The only down side I have is the red beans & the pound crawfish. I didn’t really enjoy how hard and non seasoned the red beans were. They tasted as if they were made in a hurry not really boiled long enough. The problem we had with the pound of crawfish it that it was mostly claws & not even juicy claws.

Walked in on a rainy Saturday afternoon. Small but this place has some amazing food. I had the fried shrimp plate and shrimp and queso dip. Great food, inexpensive!

I think I can fry fish about as good as anyone, but Bayou has got everyone best! Check out their Catfish nuggets. Best fish I’ve ever eaten! Damn! That was GOOD!

The food was really good. They had small portions for less money which was nice because we could try different things.

I think the key here is to just drink and not get any of the food. Service was good and the bartender was the precise amount of snarky and easy-going. He poured heavy. Heavy. Good man. We were a party of five and I’m not sure anybody enjoyed their food. I had a po’boy that was more like a pile of fried salt held in rough place by a liquid salt on top of a salt slab of bread. The other po’boy in our party was more of a sandwich… again, of salt. You get the idea. The best seat is probably the one in the far corner by the window. You’re near the bar and you can still check out all the happenings on the river. It’s not my first choice, but it’s not my last choice either.

Wow. Where to start. In town for conference, came in to a friendly waitress in this cozy place. She was nice enough but we are party of 6 waited over an hour.for.our food and one person’s veggies were ice cold. So shall we start with a drunk customer who ate out of our plate or the crazy guy with the cat on a leash who not only was allowed to enter the restaurant but lept on our table browsing for food. Last debacle was waitress was auctioning off receipts which were incorrect. You would think we were drunk and imagining all this. Nope. Never again!

Arrived at the Bayou Café at 11:30a on Halloween for one drink. Left at 4:30p. Had a blast. Great people, great food, great fun. My wife drank all of the Original Sin on hand. Stock up buddy. My «Billy burger’ at lunch was awesome. It’s only a Billy burger because the guy we was chattin with had a souped up burger. So I ordered a Billy burger.(Guys name was billy). Highly recommend this place. Ben and Sheila DeHaven. Walton, Indiana

Great live music performed by Jerry and his band mates. The bartender quickly took our drink order and was friendly. We loved the divey, hole-in-the-wall ambiance this bar provided. We sang along to the band and danced until the bar closed. We can’t wait to go back on our next trip to Savannah.

Enjoyed the Jazz music and we hit it just right because it was very pleasant — we didn’t have to yell to to visit during dinner. The fried catfish was very good. Definitely would get again The fried shrimp was better then average and the real reason we can was for the crawfish. They were good. Not sure how they are still getting them since they are out of season in Texas! The waitress was very accommodating and patient with our special needs son which was very much appreciated and a welcomed experience We would definitely return. Thanks for a nice dinner experience.

FOOD: Pretty good. I appreciated that I could have a vegetarian meal. Corn/Crab soup was very tasty. WAITRESS: Abrupt. Attitude suggested she wanted to be someplace other than work. VIBE: Clean Dive bar with a story to tell. Not a tourist trap. Why were we the only customers at 6PM? I am not sure. A little better service and a little better wine choice might make this a dinner destination. Even tho I gave it a 2, I want to give this place a chance so I suggest you check it out.

Can I bay-ou a drink? It had to be said — don’t judge me. Place was full of locals with live music on a Saturday. Divey atmosphere that I love and everyone was friendly. Will definitely be back.

Was looking for something to do on a pretty quiet Tuesday night on River St and were about to head elsewhere until a few locals leaving a bar suggested we check out The Bayou for their open mic/music night. The way they explained it was that it was an open mic but the artists are always great. We followed along and walked into the middle of a 3 piece band playing. The place seemed like a cool little spot on the river but for us it was all about the tunes. The place is bigger than what we saw. We went upstairs to check it out but, it was closed and just the downstairs was available for hanging out. We ended up chatting with one of the artists who we ended up watching play later on. He was bouncing around on a tour from Portland and was leaving to head back the next morning. After the music ended, a few artists took things to the porch… including an artist named Myles. Myles has no affiliation with the place… he was just live drawing people for cash and we saw his amazing work on the way in. My friend was pretty hammered and suggested Myles draw me ASAP and it sounded like fun. We all hung out while Myles did his work and a couple of guys jammed on guitars. The music was great and Myles had the best stories. This went on til 3am and we all had an absolute blast. I’m sure The Bayou Café wasn’t thrilled with our antics but, we had one hell of a night and appreciate them harboring our good times. If you ever encounter Myles down there(thin, older, black gentleman drawing people) stop and tell him that Scott & Andrew from Charleston say hello and then have him draw you, if not for the finished product, for the great time you’ll have hanging with Myles. Plus he does an amazing job with his work too.

Man, the reviews for The Bayou Café are all over the place. People either love it or hate it. Five or one star reviews with very little in between. Just a note The address listed, 14 N Abercorn St, is incorrect. If you google maps that address you will end up at the wrong place. The Bayou Café is right off River Street and the actual address is 4 North Abercorn Ramp. This place is an absolute dive, which maybe the reason some of the reviews are bad. Small seating area and with no doubt this is a dive bar. The food is cajun and is surprisingly good. When we walked in for lunch we were the only customers in the place. Normally not a good sign. I figured it would be meh or even suck but I was pleasantly surprised how good the food was. They have homemade catsup and hot sauce on the table which is also very good. Our waiter, who was also the bartender, is a Kid Rock doppelgänger. He took very good care of us. Recommend.
