Man from start to finish… awesome. Great attentive service. Great free corn bread to start. Awesome meals for dinner(go for the roast beef po boy). Amazing beignets for dessert. Highly recommended

Got the muffuletta sandwich and it was pretty good. Waitress was nice even though the restaurant was super busy, especially for a Wednesday night. Would go again if in Savannah again!

Attractive space right on the river. Friendly hostess. Waiter was nice, but sort of bumbling and not handling his station well. The prices are not out of line for the location-but the food quality is. The only way you can screw up fried seafood is to overcook it-which they did. Crunchy shriveled oysters are no fun. The free beignets with Unilocal check in were laughably buried in powdered sugar. Have been to Café Du Monde many times-the beignets served here are a weak imitation. One of the amazing things about New Orleans is that even places in high tourist traffic areas take pride in their food and service. This place-which styles itself as serving N.O. classics– is just coasting on its prime location.

We stopped in for the famous Beignets with praline sauce. Sinfully yummy. I had a dry white wine with confection treat and it was spot on.

A great way to start the Savannah trip for us. This restaurant deserves 5 stars for nearly 1,000 reviews. Beautiful view of the river, fun to watch people walking by… and the best part was stupendous food on top of great service. I got the filet mignon with mashed potatoes. It felt like I was at a steak house. The husband surprised himself with pasta jambalaya and said it was a plate that he enjoyed every bite. Our entrees came with side salad and corn bread. We did not treat ourselves to dessert because of… beignets! We got beignets for checking in– nice freebie surprise. Our waiter, David B. deserves waiter of the night award. He was diligent to our table ensuring our water cups were filled, checked in to make sure we were pleased with everything! Are you in Savannah? Visit this restaurant!

Great meal, good service, nice view, cold air conditioning, not too noisy, and Unilocal got us a free beignet for dessert :)

This place was fantastic! Great location, food, and service. My boyfriend had crawfish étouffée and it was amazing! The flavor was just delicious.

We had breakfast here on 5 – 31. The beignets we’re great. I had the eggs Benedict and my Girl friend had the eggs Benedict with spinach. Service was good the food was delicious and had a New Orleans feel to it. Restraunt was on river street and prices were average. Enjoy!

The beignet was good. Very fresh. I loved the outdoor seating, although the waitress disappeared for long periods of time. We had breakfast there. The grits were ok. The omelette was cooked to order and very fluffy. For a breakfast the price is high compared to other places on the same street.

My husband and I went there last night and was told the wait was about 25 minutes which was about par for the course for that time of night. After about 45 minutes of waiting we were sat a table for two. We ordered the jambalaya pasta and the pesto cheese ravioli. The ravioli was fantastic and is a large portion, no need to add chicken like I did. My husbands dish was just«ok». The problem with our visit was the seat my husband was in was under a spot in the ceiling that was dripping on him. When mentioned to our server, she mentioned we could scoot the table away from the dripping. She then said she have the manager come check with us. The manager never came, we checked out and wished we had tried another place for our first night in Savannah.

Huey’s was the first restaurant we tried once we arrived Savannah. We were expecting a really nice meal but was utterly disappointed with the food and service. Our waiter was rude and did not serve us well throughout our meals. We had to literally ask around waiters and waitresses for bill, even asking for more water was hard for us. We ordered a tilapia fish with rice, eggs benedict and fried shrimps with coleslaw. Food was average, does not taste good at all. Tilapia fish was tough, the rice was hard, as for eggs benedict, the eggs were hard and rubbery on the outside, just sprinkle some red pepper powder and that’s it. Tastes bland and just like plain eggs, the hollandaise sauce does not taste good either. Totally not worth the price, it seems like I can easily make it at home. The fried shrimps taste like any other fast food place, nothing special. We had to wait for 15 minutes just to get our bill and pay the bill. The service is quite bad as our server did not attend to us well. He seems like he does not want to be there at all. I wouldn’t recommend this place, not worth it for the price and taste of food and service.

So after a disappointment evening at Barrucudas Bob we decided to come here. We got the fried green tomatoes, crawfish etouffe, shrimpp creole, fish of the day-tilapia and shrimp and grits. My crawfish étouffée was seriously good and I have never tried grits before and the shrimp and grits was really good. All the foods were delcious and filling. I wish we had come here earlier. For dessert, we got the beignets to go and boy were they still puffy and delicious after 3 hrs. Will highly recommend this place!

This spot in downtown Savannah is a must if you are craving some southern Louisiana cooking. Every dish we tried was AMAZING. It brought me back to the time I was in New Orleans. You get seated fairly quickly and the first thing they bring you is some delicious warm cornbread with butter. The cornbread was light, fluffy, buttery, and just the perfect amount of sweetness. Apps: we ordered the fried green tomato. I personally did not enjoy it. It was way to greasy for my taste but if someone is used to eating this way I can see how they would enjoy it. I knew it wouldn’t sit well with me so I took one bite and it was enough to say it was very greasy. Entrees: shrimp n’ grits– it was incredible!!! Hands down the best shrimp and grits I’ve ever had! Sorry New Orleans this place has you beat! They amount of shrimp is plentiful and succulent. Perfectly cooked with just the right amount of spice. Crab cakes– ok, have you ever had a crab cake where it’s 20% crab and 80% mayo? Yeah, you know what I’m talking about. Not this place. You get a lump sum of crab and it’s perfectly pan seared with very little mayo. When you take a bite it’s so crispy and flaky. The flavors combined beautifully. Dessert: beignets– we got it free when we checked in here. I have to say café du monde has some competition. The beignets are buttery, fluffy, moist, and sprinkled with an overwhelming amount of powdered sugar. The more the merrier. Overall great place overlooking the river. Delish food and a great time. Cheers to Savannah cuisine!

Catfish was«oh so yummy»(I would have liked more than just one fillet). Pokatrain Omelette was the best! And I don’t like omelettes. Service was a little slow, but they were slammed. Coleslaw not so good and neither was the soggy benget. My server forgot my rice and beans. We will be back again! Was worth the short wait and great food.

The food is good. However the service was so bad, it took so long. The place is nice, but if you need to go to the restroom be prepare to walk 1 block because it’s outside the place

We came here on a Friday night, no wait and happy hour sounded perfect. Happy hour went from 4 – 7 and provides half off house wines and draft beers and $ 1 off wings and other some appetizers. We got the crab cake sandwich and the shrimp and grits. The crab cake sandwich was delicious and I would highly recommend it. We also tried the shrimp and grits which was nothing like anything you can find in the northeast. It was interesting and soup like. After this dish we felt like we experienced part of the culture. Of course we ended the meal with our free beignets for checking in on Unilocal and they were a perfect ending. We had great friendly service the whole meal and would highly recommend a visit.

Why can’t Huey’s be in Florida? With a restaurant like this, it’s special to the aura of Savannah. I came here on a Monday morning and the place was packed, so I knew it was going to be great. Upon us being seated, the waitress brought us some beignets which were warm and crispy and not to mention delicious. I then ordered an egg white omelette with bacon on the side and my bacon was cooked to perfection. My omelette was huge and cheesey and scrumptious. Our waitress was very attentive. My coffee left much to be desired though. All in all this establishment is a Savannah staple, especially with a one of a kind view.

I was in Savannah for the infamous St. Patrick’s Day weekend and while we waited for the rest of our crew to arrive, my friend and I wandered on River St to grab a bite and check out the scene. We stumbled into Huey’s for an early dinner and were seated by River St. facing the cobblestone sidewalks, which I loved. The service was pretty awful. I don’t want to say our server was drunk but she definitely seemed out of sorts. I ordered a Cathead Vodka Lemonade to start and it was so bad I took one sip and left my drink there for the rest of the meal. The food is decent, but nothing spectacular. I would say the location of the restaurant is what makes it worth going to but the food and service were below average.

From the reviews I’ve seen, Huey’s seems to be a hit or miss place, luckily we hit it on a good day: Sunday morning for brunch. Although the wait was over 45 minutes on a chilly morning, we were able to walk up to Café M and many of the shops along River Street while we waited. They also have a side room with bar seating and a small room in the back where you can wait. Once we were seated, started with beignets(score one for free by checking in on Unilocal!) and you must order the praline sauce to dip it in! I went with the gumbo(replacing the rice with parmesan grits) and Steve A. ordered the crab cake eggs benedict with fried green tomatoes, and creamed potatoes on the side. I don’t even know how to describe the amazing good that we slowly savored and enjoyed. With views of the river while you eat and of course the cobblestone streets, the food was the perfect addition to an already perfect atmosphere. The gumbo was spicy but the parmesan grits gave it a creamy texture and the crab cakes were by far the best I’ve ever had the pleasure to enjoy. Our waiter was perfect and truly rounded out the entire experience. I would return in a heartbeat, all around a most enjoyable brunch experience.

On a cold day in Savannah, this was the perfect thing to eat. We arrived at Huey’s shivering from the frigid cold and were welcomed by piping hot mugs of café au lait and warm bowls of Cajun cuisine. I ordered the Crawfish Etoufee which creamy and quite tasty. It was loaded with plenty of crawfish. The creamy sauce it was swimming in lacked the true spice I expected from this New Orleans classic. It was perfect for the time, but somewhat subpar. We also ordered the Shrimp Creole. This again, was lacking the New Orleans flavor. It was swimming in a tomato sauce and served over rice. It seemed more like a shrimp spaghetti to me. The café au lait was something I enjoyed quite thoroughly at Huey’s. Although it came out long after we dug into our entrees and even after the free beignets, it was a delicious full bodied cup of joe. You get a free plate of beignets with check in. Ours was a little sad looking. We had a nice fluffy pillow of fried dough alongside a jagged half kind of flat one. The beignets were alright. These were thinner than I am accustomed to and a lot less oily, but nothing special. Huey’s is conveniently located right on the river. It is close to the main Savannah attractions and gets the job done. It’s not super special to me, but something tasty nonetheless.
