Came here for two reasons — it was near our hotel and the bellhop recommended it since we wanted seafood. We didn’t read any reviews beforehand because we were a bit tired and had a hungry toddler in tow. We opted to sit inside since the weather was a bit too cool for the baby. But there was a live band playing outside on the deck and plenty of space which seemed nice overlooking the river. Our waitress, BRANDI was nothing short of completely wonderful! We ordered the kids fish sticks for our daughter, the crab dip for our appetizer, the crab cakes and fried shrimp dinners for ourselves. Brandi was very attentive and incredibly personable, friendly and kind to our daughter.(And us!) The kids fish sticks were legit filets, really fresh and delicious. The portion was great — 3 filets and our daughter ate 2 and maybe another quarter. A great testament to their quality and taste. Our crab dip was amazing. Recommend the chips with it to better grab all the goodness. Our dinners were very large portions — my husband couldn’t finish both crab cakes(which were full of crab meat and no filler except seasoning). My shrimp dinner was meaty and fresh, lightly breaded and fried without being greasy — and a perfect portion. All in all, a great experience. The food was delicious, but nothing to blow you away… I rated it a 4 out of 5 mostly because it was good quality and the waitress made it a wonderful experience. We’ll definitely go back!

The food is definitely better than the previous reviews but my reason for the 4 stars is the ambiance. Nice view of the river and really good live music. Had a great crab cake. Big, fresh and cooked perfectly. Crab legs and shrimp platter was HUGE. Very attentive service made for a very enjoyable meal.

Not so good! Clam dip had no clams, shrimp where not cleaned properly, oysters where small and of poor taste. Would not recommend for the money. LAG from ID. 2÷25÷2016.

Great atmosphere and view of River Street in Historic Savannah. The menu is full of great pub food and sea food choices. The beer menu is a bit limited, only 5 drafts or so, but they have a full liquor bar and some unique southern inspired spirits. The fried green tomatoes and crab cakes are excellent.

I don’t exactly know what I was expecting with a name like Tubby’s, but Tubby’s Seafood River Street definitely falls into the fried food tourist restaurant category. After a Call-A-Cab and a couple of Blue Moons the night before, their average bar food was just what the doctor ordered though. Tubby’s is a second story restaurant right there on the river. The atmosphere is exactly what you would imagine for a sort of cheesy, generic tourist spot serving up fried food. I ordered their«famous» shrimp and grits. This entrée is not worthy of being famous, but it is large and grits soaked in gravy do the body good. It also came with a Caesar salad and really was a lot of food for $ 15. My server was very typical South Georgia sweet but slow. Honestly nothing about the whole experience was particularly memorable. Would I eat here again? Probably not. Did it get the job done? Absolutely.

Stopped at this place because they had live music on the top deck and outside heaters so seemed perfect! I got the white sangria which seemed more just like a few canned peaches and some of the watered down juice they come in… Disgusting! It was so sweet and syrupy and you could not taste the wine at all. Disappointing since it was such a cool little outside area:/

Let me go ahead and insert the side eye at the beginning of this review. I was optimistic about my dining experience. For breakfast, I ordered the Crab Cake Benedict which came with an order of grits or potatoes AND a buttered biscuit or toast. My waiter interrupted me and let me know that I could get the biscuit but he would charge me. I politely showed him my menu where it specified AND a buttered biscuit or toast. He said that must be new to him but he would check. Huh?!? Not that I need all that starch or even wanted the damn biscuit but now it was the principle. There’s principalities in this thing Smokey!!! Anyway, he came back and let me know that they were going to make it happen. Oh joy! Rant now over. My breakfast was very tasty! Crab cake cooked to perfection and the house potatoes are the bomb! People in my party ordered the pancakes and they were honestly the best I’ve ever had other than my own. I’ll go here and«Biscuitgate» only cost them one star. Also a very nice location of you’re staying in a River Street hotel which we are. If you’re running the air/heat/fan in room 417 of the River Street Inn, you’ll be gently awaken to the smell of sausage cooking, and baby… That’s a good thing!

The view is great from the 2nd floor above Huey’s on River Street. The food tasted average to me. I had the shrimp and grits… which only had 4 shrimp in the dish. The service can be spotty if you go between shifts. Nothing special. I think you are paying for the location mostly.

Glad I didn’t read the reviews before we went because I probably wouldn’t have gone, but for breakfast we had a great experience Mona was our server and took very good care of us I had the pancake platter and everything was delicious. My wife had the fried porkchops, hers was good as well except Porkchop breading didn’t stick well and was a bit spicy for her taste Over all I would definitely recommend tubby’s for breakfast

We had an awesome experience here at Tubby’s on River Street. Our waiter was very experienced and knowledgable, the live music was playing exactly what we wanted to hear… Bob Dylan, Cat Stevens, The Beatles etc. we were all very happy with our food and drinks. The praline cheesecake was out of this world good! I knocked a star because my father in law and I went to the bar for drinks before we were sat and the bartender charges us $ 4 more than what the drinks were actually priced. That was annoying but not enough to ruin our experience! We will be back!

HORRIBLEEXPERIENCE on December 27, 2015!!! As a family of four, we were seated on the balcony to view the river. We waited for our server for about 15 minutes. When she finally came, she rudely asked«what do you want to drink.» We didn’t respond because we were caught off by her abrasiveness. The server then tried to clean it up by saying, «how y’all doin’, what do you want to drink?» We put in our drink order and waited about another 15 minutes for four waters with lemon and two coffees. Next, she took our orders which the server seemed to have a difficult time to comprehend. We repeated each order at least 3 times per person, after she repeated each persons order wrong. We waited for our food for about 45 minutes. We only received three out of four meals! The fries were cold and soggy, and the shrimp was luke warm and soggy. The fourth meal was a salad. We waited at least another 20 minutes for the fourth meal because the server said the kitchen was busy. Except when we received the fourth meal, it was the wrong order! We order a salad and a sandwich came out, after we told the server at least 3 times that the order was a salad! The server had an attitude when we told her that the order was wrong. She took the food off the table and slammed it on the bar. at that point, we didn’t want to wait for the salad to made so we sent the entire order back and did not request a new one. The bathrooms were far(through the restaurant, downstairs and down a hallway) and disgusting. No paper towels and the toilets were filthy. When we got home, all four of us had severe food poisoning! I would never go to this restaurant or recommend this restaurant to anybody. It’s a perfect way to ruin a perfect day on River Street! DONOTEATHERE!!! yuck!!!

Service was slow. We should have turned around when we first walked in and smelled that nasty old fish smell. The place reaks of throwup or something else that just died. Or yeah the fried fish basket was horrible. Just had to use this coupon for 5 bucks off. They needed to give us a free entrée. See pic. ***Update*** They also charged an extra $ 6 on my card for a tip. Even though I put a zero with a slash through it on the tip line on the receipt. We left a cash tip on the table for our server. I always check my card for instances like this so luckily I saw the charge and had management refund me. Always check for the correct charge to your card. Update… this is the tubbys in thunderbolt…

The food was tasty and the staff was courteous but they have issues with the management of their kitchen. The restaurant was not that full and it took them almost 2 hours to get our food. The manager stated that they were down a fryer, which is a real problem when most of their food items are fried. We had the fried green tomatoes, fried pickles and crab cake sandwich.

Meh. My friend took me here for dinner on a Tuesday night because apparently it’s a Savannah staple. The view was cool on River Street. Some huge boat came by so that was really cool to see… The cons were that I ordered a salmon sandwich off the menu and paid extra for guac. The sandwich was just okay and the guac was obviously old and browning. There are no prices on the wine list so I ordered a glass of champagne and it wasn’t great and ended up being $ 10. Pricey for mediocre champagne. Only the view kept it from one star.

There are lots of choices when it comes to seafood restaurants in the historic area of Savannah. We decided on Tubby’s because of the outdoor patio. The servers were very friendly and food arrives quickly. The crab dip with bread and chips was a great starter. Lots of crab and a nice spicy kick. I had the po’ boy with shrimp and oysters. I opted in for the cheese and fried onions too. The sandwich was great, the roll was warm and soft, and the seafood was cooked perfectly. It could have done with a drizzle of mayo or something but it was good without. The house made chicken salad sandwich was really good too. A very generous serving of chicken salad on fresh bread. Not over seasoned, not over mayoed… Just right. We will recommend Tubby’s to anyone traveling to Savannah!

Great view from the balcony. Service was great, host looked like she was a bit crabby though. They had live music which was very nice. I enjoyed every bit of my food. Started off with the steamed shrimp and they were sooooooo good!!! The sauces were delicious. I also had steamed snow crab which was exactly what I was craving and I enjoyed every bite.

Five stars aren’t that far away so my rating represents the expensive-ish prices. Otherwise, we were pleasantly surprised by the live music and welcoming server who let me see the children’s menu(even though I’m obviously not a child). She provided us with great customer service. I ordered the crab soup for a lite lunch and thoroughly enjoyed it; very creamy and tasty and was topped with lump crab meat. My friend ordered the crab cake and it was plated in a hamburger fashion and she stated that it was very good. You can’t beat sitting on the patio and overlooking the riverside so overall, this place really stands out to me as being a more casual and costfriendly option in Savannah.

I had high expectation for this restaurant however the food was mediocre at best. I got a crab cake and there was nothing special about it. The hush puppies would have been better from cookout. And that’s saying something. On the plus side, the view is great! Love the balcony to relax in the great savannah weather!

This was a last-minute choice for dinner for my group. Part of me wishes we had spent a little more time thinking. It’s not that the restaurant is outright BAD. It’s just… pretty uninteresting. The«jumbo lump crab cake» was anything but. The crab had been practically pureed into a paste before forming into a patty, and while I ate it(because I was hungry and I’m generally not picky), my friend who had also ordered that meal left 75% of it on the plate. Everything else was typical fried seafood with no standouts at the table.

We didn’t stop in to Tubby’s for anything other than a cup of hot coffee and a cup of hot chocolate. We needed to warm up a tad and get out of the drizzle. However, when we saw the Fried Green Tomatoes on the menu, we just couldn’t say no. I’m glad we didn’t say«no» because they were the best Fried Green Tomatoes either of us had every had. Our server was friendly and excellent. What more can we say — perfect, for sure.
