Had the flounder Del Ray, both the flounder and vegetables tasted so boring I could’ve fallen asleep. The pasta was the only saving grace of flavor. However, the moon rolls were on point and teriyaki chicken wasn’t bad– good crunchy texture. Crab cakes weren’t as good as I expected, but I’m from MD so I’m used to the best kind of crabs.

This place was gross all the way around! It’s in the basement of The East Bay Inn and it’s every bit of a basement and is decorated like a thrift shop who brought out their Christmas junk. The stairs going down were filthy — that was my first clue. However, someone we know said it was good food so we decided to stick it out. We ordered a Caesar salad — nothing special at all. We also ordered what the waiter suggested as the best crab soup around –Not so much. It was terrible! Greasy, watery and tasted like onions not crab! Oh and there were literally two crab shreds in the soup. I decided to leave it. Picture will be posted — you can see the grease on the top. Ugh! 2 Crab cakes were ok — and the fried rice was dry and tasteless. The slaw was ok. The only positive if you want to call it that is that it was cheap $ 18 total. All in all I’d avoid this place. There are other much better places to eat.

In Savannah for the«rocknroll ½ marathon» & was looking for pre-race dinner establishment that served america dishes as well as kinda off the main path that would not draw other marathoners and participants. Based on my Unilocal search Skyler’s appeared to be the best fit. The entrance to Skyler’s is somewhat obscured if you’re on E. Bay St. Upon entrance, there were a few workers who silently & bewildered looked at us, which made us think we were in the wrong place. Eventually, a worker became present and pointed us to the dinning area. The dinning area is on a lower level from the street level. We entered an emptied dinning area and I was«like ok» I don’t think I’m staying. I didn’t put my pocketbook down; waiting for my dinner companions to peruse the menu to see if something grabbed their attention. At this point our servicer came, pleasant, recommended a lovely white wine which broke the cold empty atmosphere that enveloped the space. After a few sips of wine, I loosened up was ready to place my order. The menu was simply and everything seemed delicious. Our servicer knew the menu well and answered all our questions. I had the Mongolian Beef: Marinated sliced Beef Stir Fried with Mushrooms & Diced Tomatoes in a Sweet Szechuan Sauce served with Steamed Rice. Skyler’s had the best warm table biscuits.

Great place to try. It was a little difficult to find the entrance but go around the corner to the entrance to the East Bay Inn. Go in and head left to the doorway into the bar. Walk down the length of the bar and you’ll see the stairs heading down to Skyler’s. Great food and they even custom made a plate for my pregnant wife. It seems odd to have seafood, oriental vegetables and pasta together but it works. The crab cake was odd to me but the rest was very good.

Ate here with our 2 teenagers. Really charming little place. Service was excellent. Lots of choices on the menu. I ordered the crab cakes based on other reviews and wasn’t disappointed. My husband had the steak Diane and said it was delicious. One sin had grouper and the other had the sweet chili shrimp. Also had the crab bisque which was served piping hot. My one son said he would take a date to this place!

O. M. G. Best crab cake sandwich in Savannah — hands down. I’ve only eaten here a couple of times but it was fantastic both times. The teriyaki chicken is excellent. The coleslaw and veggies are delicious! I can’t wait to try everything on the menu.

Skylers may not immediately come to mind when you visit Savannah but whether lunch or dinner they have consistently delivered for me personally for over 15 years. They sautéed flounder with lemon caper sauce is a must try and come back another day for the best crab cakes in Savannah! Lunch offers Ms. Moon’s magnificent fried rice that raises the bar for any Asian restaurant paired with the special moon rolls there is no doubt you will be silently thanking me when you visit this hidden gem right on Bay Street! Budget friendly, great staff and please tell them Tammy from Atlanta sent you — no special treats but as a out of town regular they will be impressed that you Unilocal know me. :)

I’m coming out of hibernation just because Skyler’s is THATAWESOME. I’ve eaten here twice now, actually gotten take out to be accurate. Both times our orders have been %100 correct which over the phone its’ common to have mix ups, not here. They are always friendly and service is fast. Pricing, awesome. Selection, awesome. Food, amazing. The lemongrass chicken is perfect, I get it with steamed rice and their slaw, with a moon roll and sauce to go along with it. Seriously, I have trouble stopping myself from over eating the food is that good here. I love the ambiance of the downstairs seating. Very private and romantic. For being inside a hotel this place is usually busy, a lot of business suit types on lunch break, locals know the best food that’s for sure. Will come back to eat here for dinner soon.

Good and bad — great service, they are very attentive for such a large crowd and the server very freely offered suggestions. Some of the food was very good(crab cakes) and some was just OK… slightly mushy. My biggest complaint was the cheap paper napkins. Thin! Most of our napkins were torn and falling apart before we had our food served! On the whole, it was very busy downtown and the server was very patient with our group, most of the food was delicious and we really enjoyed the experience. This was my third visit.

I’ve been here twice, once for a meal with my fiancé and once to have my wedding reception in their back room. We were trying too find some place that had that typical savannah feel, kind of old(in a good way), Sourhern, etc. all of our family ws from out of town so we wanted them to feel the city. Being downtown definitely helped. Anyway, food was great, both times. First time I had lamb, shrimp and filet mignon. At the wedding reception we had a choice of fish chicken or seared steak. I don’t know if I’d say it was the best at any one thing, but the kitchen managed to be pretty good at alot of things. Really quiet, cozy feel. Family loved it as well. It’s actually underground too so it’s really peaceful. First time we went there was a table of about twelve people, looked like some kinda work get together, so I’m guessing thy cater to large groups on a regular basis. Very pleased with our outcomes both times. Lots of nice memories, lots of nice people. I’d recommend giving it a shot if you want typical savannah feel without the ten pounds of butter in some other places.

Solid restaurant. I thought the concept was a bit strange… Asian food and traditional Savannah seafood, but I always like places that are a little unique! The lunch menu is awesome… super reasonable prices. I got the 2 combo — the moon roll and the crab cakes. The moon roll(aka an egg roll) was just okay, but the crab cakes were delicious! Probably the best crab cakes in Savannah(as their menu claims). I will say that the moon roll sauce was pretty good. Service and atmosphere were great — I could definitely come back for dinner and get some cocktails.

We decided to try this place on a suggestion from a local friend who described it as «just yummy food» and we are so glad we did! When we reviewed the menu before going there, we were slightly concerned about the fusion food so don’t be deterred if you notice that it’s a bit all over the place. The crab cakes were delicious! Ordering crab cakes in the south can be quite dicey… hello deep fryer. We are NOT fans of deep fried, heavily breaded crab cakes. These are lightly breaded and pan fried for perfection! Random, but also ordered blackened chicken caesar salad and it was wonderful! Blackened chicken was perfectly seasoned — not too charred — and very tender. The caesar dressing was perfect. Really, really enjoyed this salad! The ambiance is nice for a basement restaurant. The service was great. The food was a little slow but the server checked in frequently and was very friendly and knowledgeable. He made us forget that we’d been waiting a bit for our food! I would definitely go back here!

Ask for Anna. She’s the nicest server I ever encountered. Skyler, the charming young pony-tailed server, is also awesome. He’s the owners’ son and its nice to see kids caring about family ventures these days. I didn’t try too many items. The chicken teriyaki was great.

Well, they’re not giving away the food. That being said, quantity exceeds quality. Scone type roll. Yeast, chewy and warm. The romaine in the Caesar was crisp and the dressing thankful tasted of anchovy. Well balanced. Steak Diane was warm and medium rare. Since it was not served on a sizzle-plate, you eat what the cook gives you or send it back. Brandy sauce was well constructed. Potato soufflé was cold. Vegetable side as an amalgam of panned onion, zucchini, carrot and thin green beans. No challenge there. Seared grouper and crab: thick slab of fish of pleasant texture and taste. Crab hit the palate as having once lived its life as a, well, as a crab. Ziti, garlic cream and Parmesan. Same vegetable. Missing something. I know, a few grains of salt. There, that fixed it. I enjoyed the Argentinian Chardonnay, the taste was reminiscent of the flavor of kissing a ladies neck which was subtlety perfumed. They need to kick it up a notch.

The entrance is hard to find. When you see the sign, you think you should head downstairs but you have to go through the lobby of the nearby hotel, the complimentary biscuits were hard and wanting as yeast rolls. The salads, ceaser, were equally lacking. the lettuce tasted old and the dressing uninspiring. The entres though were well done. I had the sautéed flounder which was crunchy and flavorful. The chicken piccata was also well made and presented. What started out as typical low-grade fair turned into a nice meal. If they improve on thier biscuits and salads, this is easily a 4 star choice for me.

We wanted to have a nice dinner on Saturday night and this restaurant was RIGHT next to our hotel. Plus it’s my daughter’s name(different spelling). And my niece and daughter peeked inside and said it looked cool. Good enough for me! There were only a couple of tables so we were seated right away. There were two tables of prom kids so that was fun to check out their get ups. We had one primary waitress and another that helped out on occasion. We had EXCELLENT service! Super friendly, personable, gave good recommendations, did an excellent job at taking care of us without interrupting the flow of our conversation. The soup of the day was a crab & asparagus soup that both my mom and I ordered. My daughter had a bite and said it tasted like chicken soup? Either way, the broth was flavorful and absolutely delicious. We were also given bread & butter which was also very tasty!(same bread as Boar’s Head Tavern & Grill I think!). We ordered two orders of the spring rolls(only comes with 2) and an order of the pot stickers. Both appetizers were DELICIOUS! The pot stickers were cooked perfectly. Crispy bottom, not chewy. The sauces were excellent. Highly recommend those two. The only negative point was their Caesar salad. My mom & I ordered it, while my daughter and niece got the house with ranch. Their salads looked very good with quality ingredients. Our Caesar salad had way too much spine in the greens. In fact, more spine than not. Taste wise it was very good though. My niece got the chicken Marsala. She doesn’t like mushrooms! She didn’t notice that. So she pushed them aside and thoroughly enjoyed her meal. My mom and I ate some of the mushrooms and they were very good. My daughter got the Flounder Del Ray? I’m guessing because it was on an insert/special menu and I didn’t note the name. I remember the Del Ray because she’s a fan of Lana Del Rey and I’m pretty sure it was flounder topped with crab meat. Either way she ate it all and I had a bite. Very good! My mom ordered the meat lover’s(based off of another Unilocalers pic that’s the name) and I sampled the lamb chop and the potato cake thingy. Both were VERY good. I ordered the trio special with fried shrimp, steak and crab cake. I know another Unilocaler mentioned the steak flavoring was too strong but I loved it. Hate having to add flavor to steak! It was perfectly cooked, the crab cake was AMAZING and one of the best I’ve ever had. I’m typically kind of picky about friend shrimp. So many places do it wrong. These fried shrimp were SOGOOD! The dishes came with veggies and pasta Alfredo. The pasta needed a bit of salt but other than that, fresh, perfectly veggies and a solid pasta side. The quantity of the entrees was also good. My mom & I both had to get to-go boxes for our food and I think the only reason the girls were able to finish is because they didn’t have soup and they stuffed themselves silly. The girls were too stuffed to even consider dessert but my mom & I both got the Key Lime pie to go. Our waitress said it was still frozen so it’s best to let it sit out a bit to get nice & creamy which was an EXCELLENT tip. My mom ate hers first so later than evening when I started eating mine, I was able to confirm her assessment. HEAVEN!!! I forced both my daughter and niece to eat a bite. Honestly they’re lucky I was willing to share but it was too good to not! Both of them were looking at it with trepidation, asking what it was. I ignored and shoved the bite into their mouths. I swear they both had the same reaction… instantly started grinning like idiots! My daughter regretted not ordering some to go. and I’m willing to bet my niece did too. Overall 90% of the food was DELICIOUS, the service was EXCELLENT, and we had a wonderful time. Truthfully I think it was money well spent too. With all that food ordered(3 appetizers, 2 soups, 4 entrees, 2 desserts, drinks) and it was only $ 150. I won’t hesitate to return!

The owner lady is soooo sweet and came out to greet us a few times since she knows our friends. The food is great, we had the Meatlover’s, Trio, Pan Seared Grouper, scallops and shrimp, and they were all pretty good(crab cakes was ok, I wouldn’t get it again). I’m not a key lime pie person, but their key lime pie was really yummy and I loved the crust. The service could have been better though. We had a pretty big party and I was starving. So after our drink orders, I asked the lady to bring out some bread while we wait for the last 2 of our party to show up, and she told me not until everybody orders. She got drink orders wrong, and also dinner orders. Not the brightest waitress I’ve encountered…

I’m still mulling this review over, to be completely honest. The food was good… but strange. Strange in a good way. It’s Southern food with an Asian flair… or Asian food with Southern flair. Actually, a little of both. The service isn’t great… friendly, but could stand to be a little more attentive. I was left waiting for a refill once too often. Food was tasty. We started with Moon’s fried Dim Sum, which was served with a ginger soy sauce and a bit of rice. Very tasty. I had their Trio(tempura fried shrimp, a small filet, and a crab cake), while my wife had just their crab cakes. The shrimp and crab cakes were very good — the crab cakes aren’t heavy like some, and they’re lightly pan fried. The tempura batter on the shrimp was perfect. The steak — it was OK. The soy-based steak sauce was a little much, but it was good enough. Knowing what to expect, I’d go back when I’m ready for Southern-Asian fusion.
