Byrd’s Famous Cookies 6700 Waters Ave. Savannah. A Jem just outside downtown. A great restaurant for lunch. I had the hotdog special. Covered in an amazing fresh corn sauce(sounds strange but delicious) I sampled the cheddar pecan biscuits and lemon tart cookies. Unbelievably good. The staff is friendly and helpful.

The cookies are amazing! I recommend the Scotch Oatmeal and the regular chocolate chip cookies! Also they have some amazing natural honey– sample the bourbon honey and cinnamon honey! Everything you can sample! The price is a bit pricey but great gift place!

After receiving some decent key lime cookies compliments of our hotel, we happened to stroll by their store downtown and grabbed a different variety.

Famous for their cookies, but not for their hospitality! My wife and her friend visited this establishment yesterday to buy cookies to send back home. Not only were they not greeted, they were completely ignored by two young white employees. To make matter worse, the next couple of customers that came in were greeted with open arms and offered samples. Discrimination at its finest!!!

It’s been over a week since my trip to Savannah and people in California are still thanking me for bringing these sugary confections home. I brought my Dad a bag of the Ginger Snaps home… Gone within days and he would not share with my Mom! lol. These cookies are miniature, pop in your mouth, and not fresh out of the oven hot and gooey … It’s not a bakery, it’s a cookie shop. They serve samples and you can try, try again to figure out which one you like best. The Georgia Peach is by far the favorite amongst my friends and coworkers, a little burst of peach in every bite. The key lime are good, but are much sweeter and as someone who isn’t into sweet/sweet I would probably hold off from buying those again. I only wish I had purchased the scotch oatmeal or chocolate chip. I bought 4 bags for $ 25, they made nice gifts and I kept one for myself. The lady that helped us was very helpful. I’m surprised at the three star rating, I guess I have some reading to do. Update: Okay just read the reviews and I’m really shocked at some of the basically rude and Nasty comments. My advice, please judge for yourself before reading the bad reviews. I took 4 bags home to California and each of them were fresh and gobbled up by friends, family, co-workers and myself included.

Lots of samples which is nice… only to realize they are over priced bit sized morsels. The flavors are interesting. 4 bags for $ 25.

So good, I love being able to try before I buy. Tried the gluten free chocolate chip and loved them. They had a deal to get a box and but 4 bags for $ 25. It was great except I wanted them all. Did settle on gf chocolate chip, scotch oatmeal, my husband chose Georgia peach and jalapeño cheddar biscuits. Staff very nice and friendly.

My best friend took me to savannah and said this was the spot to Go. I was expecting a large gooey melted cookie, but instead a bag filled with(not hot) cookies. Hmmm was starting to second guess his taste buds until I tried the cheddar pecan ones. Holy goodnes it was a change your life. If I had a restaurant I would serve these with my chilis in the winter! I went on a trolley tour and our guide Ms. Denise told us that the four places we needed to visit in Savannah were Byrds, Ms. Wilkes, Leopoldo’s Icecream and Candies/pralines. Check on Byrds :)

This is the original location. Now there are several places more in town that you can get their amazing little cookies. This location, however, has tons of kitschy stuff asl well. Tea towels, kitchen wares. books, cheese spreaders, you name it. They have a ton of cookies for sale in a variety of container options: the iconic tin trays, really fun plastic cups that you can use til the end of time, and fantastic large and small cookie jars. The great thing out here is the new restaurant that opened up. Fantastic ambiance and adorable!

Must be a thing now with me and my husband to check out the sweets that a place we vacation to is known for. This is a standard sweets factory that caters to tourists. Apparently they have a restaurant next door which we didn’t check out, but we did like that we can sample some of these cookies. My favorite is the key lime cooler. I was hoping the peach one would be pretty good, but it was kinda ‘meh’ to me. My husband did enjoy their oatmeal cookie so we got a batch of that too. Is it a cookie that blew my mind… well no but they were decent.

We stopped here after visiting the cathedral and got some coffee. Great little shop with super nice staff. Being as we are from out of town they have us some great picks for dining that will help us stay away from the tourist traps and hit some authentic Savannah food. Great coffee and wonderful cookies too. A must try if you are near it.

Nasty dry tasting cookies. Advertising says Byrd’s Famous Cookies. Famous is only in the name. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

I’ve bought cookies here several times when visiting savannah. It has drastically changed for the worse. It isn’t as easy to try a sample, small variety out for sampling, had to wait on someone to pass out the sample, crowded sampling area, didn’t feel as comfortable tasting, & staff was cut & dry. Didn’t buy nearly as much as prior visits. Not sure that I will return.

It’s unfortunate because the store is built to sell phenomenal cookies. It’s bright and for god’s sake, has a free cookie tasting bar set up in the back. What more could you ask for… Oh wait, extraordinary cookies. You could ask for what you expect, really really good cookies. Instead, while they are the right size(small, bite sized) they are not as tasty as you would hope. There is nothing exceptional about them, but I will say that the key lime is good. They get a point for variety and presentation though. With national shipping it just loses the unique savannah boutique and gift appeal. Worth a stop if you are walking by the storefront, but not worth crossing the street for.

Ok, I will start by saying that I don’t think Byrd’s cookies are especially great or tasty. I mean, they are little tiny sweet cookies of various flavors. But what’s great is the store itself. The location, the service, the variety, makes me a fan of this cookie shop. How can you not like strolling in the shop to try a variety of cookie flavors, going oooohhhh and ahhhh at their little cute trinkets for sale?
