Sometimes our group from work comes in here. They treat us really well and are friendly. The pizza is good and the salad bar is always fresh. Definitely a good place, if you’re in a rush and want a good deal.

I went to the one on Waters Ave. I thought the pizza had a nice flavor to it. The sauce was spicy, the cheese was flavorful, and the pepperoni was good. The environment was fine. It’s in a strip mall(I seem to have fairly good luck with strip mall pizza). I have 3 complaints. First, the pizza was almost a little too thin/flimsy. Don’t get me wrong I like thin NY style pizza, but I also like to be able to lift the pizza to my mouth. Second, it was a tad on the greasy side. Lastly, no garlic cheese bread. Now that Rustica is closed, I can picture this place moving into my rotation. It isn’t perfect pizza, but it has a nice flavor at a reasonable price, which I feel is worth a visit alone.

The Costanzo’s Pizza I tried was located on Waters Avenue, in a strip mall across the street from Memorial Hospital. The best compliment I can give this place is that the flavor is about as close to the King of Pizza in Cherry Hill, NJ as I’ve found anywhere outside the Philly-Jersey-NYC corridor. They even have Rutgers memoribilia on the walls(Go Scarlet Knights!). If I don’t look out the window, I am instantly transported 800 miles to the North in pizza heaven. They use real ovens instead of those conveyor belt contraptions, and the crusts come out thin and crispy with that perfect bit of char on the bottom. The sauce is just the right amount of sweet and salty, and it has that wonderful, delightful, awesome clear orange pizza grease running off every slice that the corporate chains seem to have engineered out of their pies. You won’t be helping out any diet plans here, but at least you’ll die happy. When I’m playing tour guide to out-of-town visitors, I might take them to Vinnie Van-Go-Go’s in City Market for the funky atmosphere and drinks. However, when I’m craving real Jersey style pizza, Costanzo’s is without a question my only destination.

I felt like pizza for lunch today, but didn’t want to order a whole pizza for my craving. I decided to try Costanzo’s in Eisenhower plaza, since I noticed that they opened recently and had a lunch special. They make New Jersey style pizza, and for a quick lunch this is a good choice. They serve your typical Jersey style pizza, and they have a huge selection already cooked(at least 10 different kinds). Their lunch special(2 slices and a drink or $ 5 from 11am-2pm) is what brought me in to try them out. The slices are very generous. They serve them on paper plates, and each slice had to have it’s own plate. For a little extra you can get one slice and a salad. I may try that next time for a lighter meal. I may consider they the next time I order a pizza for the family, but I’m more likely to choose them for a quick lunch.
