Adorable inside, trendy yet very beach themed. Staff was nice, seemed a little overworked as our waitress was handling at least 4 – 6 tables at the busy lunch hour. Kids: we were handed crayons and coloring books which the kids loved. However, there is no printed kids menu. CAUTION-our son’s fish stick kids’ meal ended up costing $ 10, our other kids’ meal was $ 9 for chicken fingers. Really? They were good, but for kids lunch? Not ok. We ordered the crab dip appetizer-yummy but needed more bread to balance the rich dip. Husband and I each ordered a fish taco and shrimp taco meal and split them. We were surprised that the tacos just had the fish or shrimp in them, nothing else. Pretty basic, came with a side of spicy bean salsa. The shrimp was amazing, fish taco was average. Our friends ordered the grouper sandwiches and raved about them. We all left feeling full and very satisfied with the food. However, the $ 82 for lunch seemed a bit excessive due to the pricey kids meals. Lunch entrees cost a bit too much as well, especially for two basic tacos.

Very slow service. Waitress that I had also seemed more disinterested than someone in the service industry should be. And when a customer says they specifically want something local, don’t try push them into a different decision. Maybe it was an off day, though. Will update after trying the food.

This is my favorite restaurant. I love everything I have ever ordered. Some of my favorite dishes are the Firecracker Shrimp Tacos, Crab Stew and the Parmesan & Crab Encrusted fish of the day. I love Brunch on Sunday also. Eggs Ellen is my favorite! Did I mention I love this place.

Drift away café was spectacular! Southern hospitality at its finest! The hostess was extremely cordial. Courtney, our server, was so helpful and delightful. The food was delicious and I only wish I was staying more than a day to revisit. I don’t say this almost ever but their salads were spectacular! All the dressings are homemade. The exterior suggests a run down hole in the wall, but inside you are welcomed to a fisherman’s warf ambiance along a creek with local vegetation. Beer selection was great and the food outstanding! Enjoy! Little add on from the car… There are not too many places that give personal attention to a restroom. Hand painted restroom with oyster shell mirror and paintings inside. Well done!

I frequently come to Savannah for work from Atlanta. I always try to make it here at least once a trip. The Cuban is great and the Firecracker Shrimp are awesome. Great atmosphere and service.

First time here. Parking lot was full but there was additional parking across the street. Wouldn’t have been too bad but it was raining(not restaurants fault). Ordered a Blue Moon and my other half ordered a Coke. My meal came with a Caesar salad and he ordered the oysters with smoked pork belly. All came super fast. Salad was your basic Caesar. Appetizer came with 3 oysters and one was accidentally a SHRIMP. Just pointed it out to our server, not wanting anything other than to make them aware… she brought out a plate of 4 more oysters! Sweet deal! For our meals I had the Seared Sea Scallops & let me tell you… THEYWEREAMAZING! Hands down the best pasta dish I’ve ever had! It was 3 huge scallops, pasta, kale, sweet potato all tossed in an Alfredo-like sauce. He had the Cuban with Fries and it was ok. We will definitely be back

The best tuna in my life! If it was less than 20 hours drive from where I live, I would go here every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Thank you !

The waitress was nice and checked on us frequently. The taco were fabulous. Everybody loves tacos. My firecracker shrimp was better than my Baja tacos. See pics.

Firecracker shrimp and homemade potato chips are world class. Wait staff ranks among the best in Savannah. Always a thoroughly enjoyable — and filling — dining experience.

We had a great experience here. Our waitress, Kali, was charming and welcoming. The fried green tomatoes were yummy and the scallop dish is amazing and cooked to perfection! Would def. recommend.

The atmosphere takes you back in time to a beach house. The food is very sea oriented and the soups are excellent. The entrees are a bit too pricy for the grade«b» quality. The servers are very nice and are gregarious. Don’t sit outside because you’ll get eaten alive by bugs. Nice atmosphere, but too expensive for the quality of food, also very kid friendly not bar like. Happy Eating and go to Wormsloe plantation!!!

An oasis of homey hospitality. We’d walked all the trails at the refuge on Skidaway Island so were delighted to discover this local café and its cheery staff. The tangy, cheesey crab chowder was worth the extra calories, while the chicken salad came with dried cranberries, pecans and plenty of fresh greens. It was a lovely lunch outside on the back deck, surrounded by fresh flowers, with a fountain babbling nearby. I’d be happy to return to this charming spot for an evening among the twinkling lights strung among the rafters, as there were many choices on the menu, and many beers to try.

I try to eat at Driftaway, every time I Visit Savannah. I love the local hometown atmosphere, and always welcome greetings. The food is excellent, regardless what you try. I’ve never had a bad experience here. When in Savannah, I stay on Isle of Hope. I am in the tourism industry and will leave downtown, with all the wonderful eating options, to eat at Driftaway. When my clients ask about a place to eat«where all the locals go,» I always recommend The Driftaway Café!

Stopped here after visiting the Wormsloe plantation as it is conveniently located on the way back to downtown Savannah. Place is clean and staff was friendly. I had the crab stew which was fantastic, HUGE chunks of crab. Amazing! Then I had the fish sandwich with grilled grouper. I was somewhat disappointed in the fish. I LOVE grouper, but it needed to be grilled longer and lacked flavor. It was bland. That being said, it was a HUGE portion of fish. The chicken biscuits on their Sunday brunch menu was top notch as well.

Sometimes, you gotta experience the food without the view. While battling the greatest bout of the flu this week, Driftaway Café, via Savannah2Go gave me much better options that canned soup! I ordered the Crab Stew, and they don’t lie when they say it’s good. Ver filling and tasty. In my opinion, beats Campbell’s any day when you’re under the weather. The meal was on the mid-pricey side, so definitely come by when you have a little extra change to spare. An order of soup and shrimp ran me around $ 19. However, I had to give them a rave review: even though I haven’t experienced the total package. When I’m feeling better, Driftaway, headed your way! Keep it Tasty Savannah.

October 5, 2014 Sunday — 12:15PM lunch 1 adult and a kid Atmosphere — 4 stars Food — 4 stars Service — 4 stars Background — We went to Wormsloe for the morning and pasted this place on our way in. I thought we would give it a try when we finished up. Atmosphere — A little more formal than what the outside appears. Maybe it was the Sunday church crowd too. Food Drink — I had some beer the waitress could not pronounce. It was Ovila Belgian-Style Abbey Quad: Ale Brewed with Plums after looking at the tap as we were leaving I was able to determine the name. She told me it was a stout, close. It is seasonal so if you get a chance try it. My Meal — A $ 13 grinder, was good but was not worth that much. Service — She was polite but something was just a little off, besides telling me they have a full bar and could not tell me what was on tap. Future — Sure if I am in the area again.
