Awesome! Salsa was fresh and flavorful, chips were light and crisp. Our meal was more authentic Mexican than tex-mex. Big bold flavors and generous portions. Plus, great happy hour specials. Definitely a place to try.

La Nopalera is my favorite little Mexican place in Savannah.(Skip nearby La Parilla and Cabos!) They have great prices and the food is always good! Definitely not super authentic or pretentious, just good Mexican comfort food. You can go in a t-shirt and enjoy cheap margaritas and good cheese dip. Always leaves me happy! If you ever have a problem, the owner/manager is usually there and is very friendly and helpful!

World class Mexican food why no, fast service friendly staff and reasonable priced food why yes. I’ll be the first to admit if you’re in mood for upscale Mexican dining then keep on drinking but if you’re in jeans and t-shirt mood and just want the basics this madam is your place. Nonstop chips & dip and tons of alcoholic beverages if you’re into that type of stuff. Their menu is very large so they’ve got something for all ages 2 – 92 and although they’ve got a bar it’s still a family friendly establishment.

The worst experience in a restaurant in a long time… my co workers & I went there for a bite to eat after a long & busy day. The service & atmosphere where so sub par. after we made a complaint about the chicken fingers being chicken«nuggets«and we didn’t want them the staff began to gather by the host stand and look at our table at one point even the kitchen staff was coming out to look our way. They made us feel as if we were 2nd class citizens which I totally did not understand with this being a land of «opportunity«which the restaurant benefits from !!! Need less to say if you want to pay to be treated like they are doing you a favor by serving you & allowing you to spend your money to eat at their establishment then by all means enjoy being treated like a foreigner in your own country at this restaurant but if you want a true Mexican meal save your time & money by skipping this place!!! You’d be better off by going to Cancun’s in twelve oaks shopping center on Abercorn St

I come here for the chimichangas all the time. The also seem to always have great alcohol specials. We’ve always had quick, friendly service. Portions are generous and prices are reasonable. My husband loves it too. Check it out :)

We visited from out of town and a family friend recommended this authentic Mexican restaurant. The customer service was great, food was on time and it was delicious.

They’ve removed the buffet. Also, they don’t speak a lick of English hardly, so I wasn’t able to see if they made everything together as I’m allergic to shellfish. It also took 30 minutes for us to get our drinks… We almost walked out. It was just five of us. Didn’t tip for one of the first times in my life, as service was horrible and the food was mediocre, what I was daring enough to try due to my allergies.

I used to love this place for the authenticity but not anymore. I visited with my boyfriend on Veterans Day. I was treating him since he is a service member. I ordered the fajita taco salad which used limp lettuce, smothered in cheese dip. I couldn’t taste anything else but the cheese. My boyfriend got some sort of chicken that he said tasted days old. We left frustrated with our meal but still tipped 20%. When checking my bank account the following day I notice that the waiter upped my tip 10 dollars on top of my original tip making the bill and tip only a 1 dollar difference. I made many phone calls to resolve the issue, including the manager at their other locations and the only response I got was«prove it.» I was so frustrated and I’ll never be going back. Terrible.

Not great food! The cheese dip was good and really thick instead of the usually watered down cheese like most places. But the tacos I ordered tasted like the meat was reheated from the day before. The rice and beans were very bland and also seemed like leftovers! go somewhere else!

WORSTMEXICANFOODIVEEVEREATEN. I went there with my grandparents aftrr a trip to the mall on a Saturday around 3pm. The place was empty. No one in the parking lot but us. There were plates full of leftovers which was already 2 dead give a ways it was terrible. We got our food and it smelled horrible and was so dried and bland. We took 2 bites and left. My grandpa took some more because he was just so hungry and got sick. DONTGOANDDONTWASTEYOURMONEY

My boyfriend and I semi-regularly go to the lunch buffet as soon as it opens. At 11:00, the place is really quiet, but every server greets us as they finish setting up for the day. Everything on the buffet is delicious and rotated frequently to keep it warm. It’s a must-stop when my family are in town and looking for something fast and cheap. Try the cheese dip and if you’re into spicy, ask for the other salsas to go with the free chips. Besides the buffet, they offer a lot of quick and cheap lunch specials.

WARNING !!! My son goes in May 24th for dinner and drinks. His bill was $ 52.43. He used his credit card and left a $ 8.00 tip. Few days later his credit card statement says he was charged $ 100.43 ! He goes back to speak to the manager and they admit that the waiter wrote a «4» in front of the $ 8.00 tip making it a $ 48.00 tip for a $ 52.43 bill ! They did refund him $ 40.00 in cash but that is unacceptable !! DONOTEATHEREYOUWILLBERIPPEDOFF !! By the way, the police have been notified.

THEWORST food ever! This is by far one of the worst Mexican resturants I’ve ever encountered. While traveling you want the best food you can eat and my experience here was terrible. I ordered the spinach quesadilla with rice and beans. The quesadilla looked like they pour meat grease on it to give it some flavor, the rice was dry and hard and the beans were masked with lots cheese. The service even worse! Beware people of what you put into your body for nutritional purposes. When your food doesn’t look right don’t eat it send it back. That’s what I did and it cme back even worse. This place needs to be closed down before they hurt someone. I give this eatery… No Star!

Awesome lunch buffet for $ 7.50! It’s pretty huge and it has tortillas, taco shells, a shit ton of different meats and fajita meats with guac, sour cream, and fresh veggies. The pre-made stuff wasn’t so good(like the enchiladas and taquitos) but I was super impressed with the fajita stuff! I’ve also been here for regular dinner and got the tacos al pastor. I was pretty disappointed by those. The margaritas were pretty nasty as well. I’d definitely stick with the lunch buffet… cheap and worth every penny.

Pretty Decent. Taste the same as most every other Mexican place in town. They have an evening happy hour until 9pm, so I wouldn’t say its the best place for a family with kids. We were beside a table of about 12, 40 yr old+ people, most of who’d had a little too much to drink. We heard several inappropriate comments, then one of the drunk ladies struck up a conversation about how skinny the toddler who eats more than I do was. The toddler had just eaten an entire basket of chips and a bowl of salsa by herself, so yes shes skinny but I swear we feed her! They have a lunch buffet, we may eventually go back to try it.

Went here as a group of about 10 for lunch. The buffet was decent, but one of the dishes was just off. The establishment has a health rating of B. The service was ok. I wanted to try this place, but I don’t think I would go back. If you’re in a hurry they have a big buffet.

Thought it was delicious. Service was good. Only thing out of place was that they served us with styrofoam cups instead of normal drinking glasses because they were out. I grew up on the original La Parilla and the one in Savannah is not as good as the original – honestly nowhere near as good so I have been searching for my new favorite mexican restaurant and I think I found it.

I am always fascinated at the great reviews and the local advertisements that zealously recommend certain places. We had a good laugh this afternoon at La Nopalera after ordering 2 Speedy Gonzales lunch specials. If an «authentic» Mexican restaurant can’t even make a taco and enchilada palatable– There’s a big problem! The meat filling had a dog food smell and there were ringed segments of the smaller arteries that were added into the ground«beef» that were visible. It was very bland, as well, but really, really salty. My «enchilada» had some strange food underneath it, that I didn’t order, hmmm, suspicious. The inside of the restaurant is dark, seedy and literally crumbling apart, not even worth enduring for a cheap margarita.

I love this place and I love the Margaritas. The Fajitas are good too. I was first introduced to this place in 2009 and It is still my favorite Mexican Restaurant.

A convenient location, fair prices, and a great happy hour — 2 for 1 margaritas… good authentic food with a lot of flavor and a wonderful cheap Mexican buffet with many yummy options to choose from at lunch! I would not say it is my favorite(my favorite is in Pennsylvania) but it is good for down south Mexican food — just enough flavor and also a friendly cute staff :) :) Their chicken soup is VERY good — make sure u ask for avocados with it bc they don’t always serve them with it(see below) I give it a three bc I have been there many times and half the time when I order out they forget to put something I ordered in the bag or do not have a side that comes with a meal. Their consistency in delivering the same food is so-so; the quality of their food is not always the same(sometimes it has more/less ingredients and tastes different) which I do not enjoy because when I go somewhere specifically to expect something to taste a certain way and it doesnt… it’s disappointing.
