My best friend and I decided to have a good ol’ girls night out after her and her boyfriend were kinda arguing. The parking lot was so filled I expected a wait. Nope! Immediate seats and then we were given the amazing salsa and chips. We were given time to decide what to drink and our server was very patient with us when ordering our food. The wait for food wasn’t too long, but wasn’t too short, however, the food was nice and hot. The food was yummy and filling but we could NOT resist dessert. We shot for fried ice cream, but they were out of the coating! We went for flan, and it was amazing. All together, we had a burrito deluxe, tacos de carnita, cheese dip, a side of jalapeños, a soft drink and water, and two clans. All together it was $ 27 before tip and with tax. I tipped more than I should’ve, but it was worth it. Just saying, will probably be returning. :)

When coming back«home» for a visit I must visit my second favorite restaurant, Jalapenos! El Potros being the first, but have pretty much closed down. Love me some Bahama Mama’s from here though. The queso and the salsa are all good. The queso is white and is a rarity in my neck of the woods now. The fajitas are always good and the Chiles Poblanos. They are supposed to have the best margarita in Sav, but I never had them. Next time I’m in town, I will def be back for my bahama mamas!

We love coming here! The Frozen margarita is awesome! The shrimp salad is great and they have really good salsa. It tastes a little different every time but it is always great. Everything is fresh and the service is fast even when there is a crowd. It’s not the quietest place but no good Mexican restaurant is. Can’t wait to come back

Didn’t eat there. We got in at 9:55 they close at 10:30. As we walked in the place was empty, and we were asked if we wanted to sit at the bar. We don’t drink, so we declined. As we were being seated we over heard the host tell the waitress that we needed to be helped. She started to complain to him in Spanish, telling him it’s late and she didn’t want to do it. However she still came over to take our order. She didn’t greet us, she simply asked us what we wanted to drink with the biggest frown on her face. We all gave here our drink order and she walked away to get the drinks. Upon returning with the drinks, she simply asked us «what do you want to eat» at this point I was getting upset. She didn’t even try to hide the fact that she didn’t want to be there. We gave her our food orders and she walked away. I didn’t like the way things were going and simply didn’t want to put myself through anymore of her shitty attitude, so we decided to leave. Anyway this review is pretty old I think a few months ago but I will never forget and haven’t been back since.

My wife and I are regulars and we love the food and drinks. The menu recently changed which hasn’t change our minds about the food or service, love it! We did find Jalapeño’s on Skidaway(I think) to be slightly better.

This was by far the best fajita I have had the opportunity to try. We will be coming back whenever in Savannah.

I am a regular here and that says a lot as I am very particular in where I frequent. That being said, you have to try the Avocado Chicken Wrap! This has to be one of the best meals in the place. Fresh and more than you can hold in one hand! The chips and salsa taste very fresh and the salsa can sometimes give you a little kick. LOL Wash it down with a large beer(very reasonable) or one of the«Texas» Margaritas!!! If you want a «little» less kick, ask Hector for the«Arizona» Margarita. He will know what you want even if it isn’t on the menu. We try to get there early to beat the usual loud and annoying group that seems to come about half way through Happy Hour during the week. Fernando, Hector and the usual staff are very friendly and always make sure to make our stay pleasant and occasionally ask us to try something new on the menu. Being a regular and unknown to them I am a chef(shhh don’t tell them); I am glad to offer my honest opinion which they seem to appreciate. For those that like something a little less spicy, try the grilled flounder. My father in law raves over it and orders it every time he is in town.

Not a bad place. Very busy yet we didn’t have to wait for anything. They were definitely staffed according to the busy time. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Pleasant to be there even considering there were kids that made a mess right across from us. We got served quickly. We got drinks quickly. We ate quickly which was exactly what we were looking for off the freeway.

Food is so-so on a good day. Service is hit or miss, if you sit in the back where the servers congregate then all you hear is trash talking about the crappy customers! By far by biggest problem with them is now the last straw… THEYCHARGEDMYCREDITCARD A 10% TIPFOR A TAKEOUTORDERAFTER I SIGNEDTHEFORMGAVETHEM $ 2CASH !!! I love Americanized Mexican food and I’m not ashamed! Didn’t really care for the«real» or «Tex Mex» stuff when I lived in Texas. Americanized Mexican food was one of the things I missed most about Georgia. We frequent this Jalapeño’s once every few months and we’ve never had a bad experience. We are always seated immediately, the food is always great, and the wait staff friendly and helpful. The husband and I did make the mistake of bringing the toddler once later in the evening(around 9ish) and there was a raucous crowd of women who’d had too much to drink and were obnoxiously loud so I wouldn’t suggest taking children there past 7 or 8 on the weekends since many people do come here to drink.

I love going to Jalapeño’s. Delicious food, quality service, and reasonable prices. They got a large selection of combination plates on the menu so if you bring a large party, you should find something for everyone(as long as they like Mexican).

Good Mexican food and cheap! When my husband & I go we split the Texas fajitas… I think our bill turns out to be around $ 15, can’t beat that!

American mexican food, not great. I’d rather go to Cancún Mexican Rest for authentic mexican food. Their margaritas are pretty good!

Since this place is next door to our church we decided to go for lunch on Mother’s day. We got there right at noon and it people were just starting to come in so it wasn’t crowded at all. We were seated immediately and our waiter took our drink orders right away. He was very polite and so was the person that brought us chips and salsa. The salsa looked and tasted freshly made and not poured out of a store bought jar. Our food came out quickly and was just what we ordered. My husband got the mixed fajitas with chorizo added for $ 1. He was very impressed with the number or tortillas that came with hi fajitas because most places never get enough. I got the Guadalajara cheese steak and it was tasty. Without even asking we were brought a fresh basket of chips and bowl of salsa. Our waiter came by several times to make sure everything was right and our drinks were filled. I’ve been here a hand full of times before and it was okay just your basic Mexican restaurant but this time the service was really great!

Service turned out to be better than it has in a long time. We stopped by on a Sunday night and the place was about ¾ full. We were seated right away. My margarita was excellent. Chips and salsa were fresh and also very tasty. The meal was great and the price was reasonable. Don’t write this place off. It’s worth another shot.

Oh no! I loved Jalapeño’s years ago. It has sadly taken a turn for the worst. I ordered a Michelada. Ten minuets later., it finally came to me.(I was at the bar.) Then they couldn’t even make me a proper one. It was too salty and inedible. Also unfit for human consumption is how I would describe my meal that came over half an hour after I ordered it. I didn’t even finish my rice or beans do to the levels of salt. The meat from the taco smelled rancid, and everything was cold. It was just awful. I am sad to say I will not eat here again any time soon. If you go, stick to the margaritas, chips and salsa.

I made a recent visit to Jalapeño’s when I was inspired by a hunger for Mexican food and an article in Connect Savannah. According to Connect, Jalapeño’s was the winner in two categories quite close to my heart: Best Mexican and also Best Cheap Meal. How could one possibly resist? I don’t know what it was about that day but it was as if the muse of greasy meat and salsa(we’ll call her Guacamolia) had whispered in my ear. One word. Three syllables. «Burrito,» said Guacamolia, her sultry voice playing a tympanic symphony on my ear drums. «Burrito,» was my reply, as I pointed the nose of my car south on Abercorn. «What did you just say?» inquired my passenger. «Nothing!» I shouted, embarrassed. So we walked into Jalapeño’s and were seated immediately. Our waitress took our drink orders(coke para mi, tea para mi esposa, nada para Guacamolia) and perused the menu. We ordered a plate of tamales and two lunch specials both reasonably priced. We chatted for a short time while munching on chips and salsa and downing our drinks. The meals arrived, all of them hot and with minimal wait. The first positive note was the portion size. For lunch portions these were quite large. The second was the taste. Having recently been to Mexico, I can honestly say that no. I wouldn’t call this«authentic» but then I wouldn’t call any Mexican dish I’ve ever tasted in the states authentic either. That includes the places I’ve been to in Texas and other border states. It tasted good but not the same as what you’d get if you went to a taqueria. Why should that bother anyone? The truth is, I don’t think authentic Mexican would do terribly well in America. It’s a lot spicier than most Americans prefer and involves a lot of ingredients that our general populace would think strange. Anyway, enough ranting. I was satisfied with the meal, service, and prices at Jalapenos. The only thing I didn’t care for were the tamales, which arrived unwrapped. Really though, not the best Mexican. I don’t know of any restaurant in the area that serves truly great Mexican dishes.
