I’ll start by saying that this is actually the worst Breakfast I’ve ever had. Well I guess I don’t get it. I had a car across the street getting work done so I came in here after reading reviews about a mom n pop southern diner, etc. They only use margarine… which I didn’t expect, but also I don’t like margarine so I guess that’s my problem. The grits(the best part) were like plain cream of wheat… no cheese or butter or salt. The omelette had what seemed to be day old bacon and American cheese. And the biscuits were so obviously butterless and made from a mix they could have passed as dog biscuits rather than those of a southern diner. The hash browns were beyond words. I doubt they were made out of potato… they actually had the texture of ramen noodles and were served in a little bowl. I literally had one bite from each thing and no more. The waitress was great, which was problematic actually because it made me feel like a complete snob(and I normally like divey diners). Upon paying the manager was completely unapologetic, asked if I tipped properly, and sorta shooed me away. Don’t go here.

Their chicken and dumplings was perfect! They are only open for breakfast and lunch and their entrees change daily. They come with your choice of three homemade sides, biscuits or cornbread all for just under $ 10, and that included coffee or tea. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Savannah with a car that wants good home cooking.

Nothing wonderful, but decent food for what appears to be a local hangout. Hubby had pork chop lunch with three sides and I only had BLT. He enjoyed the pork chop but it really was nothing to write home about.

This is a good, local mom-and-pop diner with great food, good service, and a casual atmosphere. You can tell that this is where the locals go, and it is the biggest reason that I will not think twice about going back. The prices are inexpensive, which makes the decision to dine in that much easier.

I haven’t been here in years, but decided to stop in for breakfast while visiting this time. Their breakfast selection isn’t overwhelming like some places can be. It was a single page, but still offered enough options. I had the western omelete with hashbrowns and it was amazing. Their lunch menu looked really good as well. I will have to make a stop in for lunch on my next visit.

I went in for a quick sandwich, I ordered the Tuna Fish Salad, a side of potato salad, and a glass of tea. The sandwich and potato salad was good, but the price was ridiculous, almost TEN dollars for a tuna fish sandwich and a small bowl of potato salad and the tiny glass of tea,(which the waitress NEVER did refill), is a bit out of reach for a lunch. TENDOLLARS! for a TUNA sandwich! good grief

Had a great breakfast here this morning. Nice, quiet restaurant with great food. Not well known enough due to lack of a web presence. About $ 5 for two large pancakes and three strips of bacon(extra crispy as asked!). Quick service, great people.

My wife’s family has been going to Larry’s for many many years. It is a diner style restaurant that is open for breakfast and lunch only. I think it is only open on weekdays but I am not positive on that. It is super casual and the food is great. The wait staff are always very friendly and fast. The crowd is a little on the older side, but you can tell everyone that eats here is a regular and has been coming for a long time. Some of the staff and Larry can remember my wife from when she was a little kid and used to eat there with her grandfather, which is pretty neat. I’ve only eaten breakfast here but I definitely need to try the lunch here based on the reviews. Everything I have tried has been good… omelets, pancakes, corned beef hash, biscuits and gravy, etc. If you live in Savannah or are in the area I would highly recommend checking it out. You will have great food and service in a comfortable casual environment which is much better than any chain diner.

This place has a country feel to it and really nice people. It was the owners birthday when we went and he was a nice fellow. I got the pancakes for lunch and they were awesome. You have to stop by and grab some good comfort food if your in the Savannah area.

If you come to Savannah and don’t eat at Larry’s, you’re selling yourself short. The best southern food in the city, no questions asked.

The servers are so friendly and the food is all homemade. Great casual diner for breakfast and lunch. Say hi to Beth if you go!

Wow. Anything less than a four-star review of Larry’s is just crazy! This is delicious, Southern cooking at it’s absolute best, and *without* the massive lines and overpriced hoopla you’d get at certain places downtown that are more well-known. Larry’s Restaurant is hot, fresh, fast, and has portion sizes that really satisfy. The waitresses are friendly, and Larry himself will come by and talk to you. It’s like eating at my grandma’s house, only her food isn’t this tasty or addictive, and her dining room can’t accommodate nearly as many people.

Larry’s is a fairly typical diner on the east side. I really didn’t feel there was anything on my plate to write home about. The menu had all the diner standards and prices were about average for the fare. Everything was well overly salted for my taste. It wasn’t terrible by any stretch but I really can’t see myself returning with so many better options, even in a two mile area.

A Savannah staple, Larry’s is the place you go when you’re looking for basic, homestyle cooking and good company. The liver and onions is some of the best I’ve ever had their fried chicken is known throughout the city. I love that they don’t try to be anything more than what they are. Open for breakfast and lunch only, the crowd tends to be on the older side and many of them have been regulars for more than 20 years.

Larry’s is absolutely nothing fancy but is a Savannah staple. The food is very basic, homestyle, down-south cooking. All of the vegetables come out of a can and there is probably more sodium in each meal than I care to think about. That said, if you want meatloaf or fried catfish or a chopped sirloin steak with three sides and a biscuit, this is your place. No frills, nothing fancy. They don’t claim to be anything more than they are and I can respect that. I absolutely LOVE their meatloaf, apple and cheddar casserole, tomatoes & okra, and greens. The price is right, the portions are huge and they have great sweet tea.
