On my first visit, I was almost immediately pushed to apply for financing without even having a diamond or setting picked out(pushy AND assuming I don’t have the ability to pay in full). I then, on my 2nd trip, arrange to have a loose stone(Marquise) shipped in and was told it was a «very good» cut before giving my refundable deposit. While waiting for the diamond to come in, I do loads of research which is where I find out about GIA not assigning cut grades for fancy shapes(interesting). I find the desired L/W ratio, Depth %, Table %, and girdle range for the Marquise shape in my research. I also price checked Helzberg with several online retailers. I find an amazing loose diamond and platinum band at James Allen for considerably less than what Helzberg wanted to charge for what turned out to be an inferior diamond. I go back in to Helzberg to look at the stone as it could very well be what I am looking for(and better than what I found online) with regards to desired specs. I look at the GIA cert and almost immediately determine this is not the stone I want(too deep, table too large, girdle too thick). The store manager immediately becomes salty and asks for my desired specifications. I rattle these ranges off by memory and then she hands me off to a regular sales rep while she claims to go look online for what I want. Not to mention she had almost no idea about the key specs to which I was referring(she also misread the GIA certificate regarding depth% and table% — the sketch is not to the percentages/proportions listed but those numbers are indeed accurate). The sales lady I was handed off to asks more about what I found and where. She and another gentleman begin to discredit online jewelers(poor quality, lifetime warranty?, have to ship out the ring for work, Helzberg backed by Berkshire, she then displayed a ring bought online that lost a gem from the setting). They also claim to have very little, if any, knowledge of James Allen or Blue Nile which I find hard to believe in the year 2015. All they want is the sale. Every diamond is brilliant they claim. All their settings are of the highest quality they claim. I will see if they hold true to their policy and refund my deposit. If not, I am sure AMEX will gladly take care of the issue. In summary: 1) Do your research. Lumera is a great source of knowledge. So much more to a diamond than color and clarity. Use Google to verify the knowledge on Lumera. An educated consumer has power especially when shopping for diamonds. Have a specific shape in mind. It doesn’t take much effort to learn about a specific shape. 2) My experience at this location is that the sales people are just sales people and know little about their product much like car sales people. Every diamond is «brilliant» and as soon as the chance of a sale is gone, they move along to the next potential sale(or chat up a co-worker). 3) You will be robbing yourself if you don’t at least look at James Allen. I was skeptical about buying a diamond online but they have HD pics of the actual diamonds and you can filter by very specific characteristics(Depth %, Table %, Polish, Symmetry, L/W ratio, and more) as well as the usual 4 C’s and price range. They have a 30 day return policy and lifetime warranty as well to ease the consumer’s mind. Also look at Blue Nile and Ritani to compare. At the very least, this should give you a good idea of a fair price. 4) The lady that gets the ring will love it no matter what, provided it’s the shape she wants and it sparkles. The guy that buys the ring will(should) know all the details, imperfections, and true quality of the diamond. Speaking for myself, I need to know I am getting the best quality diamond for the price.

I’ve had mixed customer service at this place. The first time I visited I was looking for a diamond for my engagement ring. Of course, since we were spending a good amount of money they were very attentive and we had great service. Plus the salesperson was very helpful and got us 18 months of free financing instead of the original 12 months free financing my fiancé got when he signed up for the Helzberg credit card. We also bought a men’s wedding band that day and they really pushed the Lifetime Care Plan which I thought was kind of a rip-off. My fiancé was pretty insistent on it though since he is worried that he is going to scratch his ring. So we bought the care plan. As I was reading through the plan later though, I found out you need to take the ring in every 6 months to have it inspected or else the plan is voided. So that kind of stinks. Overall, I’d say that visit was mostly successful. The second time we visited this store was to get my fiancé’s wedding band in a smaller size. So I guess it is a good thing we bought the lifetime care plan. Though I am not exactly clear on the return and exchange policy. We were able to get his ring sent back in and have another ordered in a smaller size. Due to the material of the ring, they aren’t able to resize it. This visit we had to wait for an available salesperson as there were only two working that Sunday and they were both helping other customers when we walked in. That was fine that they were busy, but it would have been nice to be greeted when we walked in and told something along the lines of, «we will be with you shortly.» The third visit was when I stopped back in to pick up the new smaller size of the wedding band. Again this time I had to wait for an available salesperson and was ignored. I understand that they are busy but that is poor customer service. Thankfully we haven’t had any problems with the ring since so I hope I can avoid this store. Though I guess I will need to go back in 6 months to have the wedding band«inspected».

The center stone just came loose again! I’m leaving for our destination wedding on Saturday and the store manager said their repair person is out of town and it will have to wait until we return to fix or exchange. Unacceptable, sorry. I don’t want a different ring when this could’ve been properly fixed, and I don’t want him/her touching my ring again. This shouldn’t have happened. I can see once, maybe twice, but 3 times in only a few months?! I took it to a local jewelers that I know does good work from previous experience and I’m contacting Helzberg corporate for a refund on the $ 100 lifetime care plan because their craftsmanship/repair is terrible! This ring isn’t even a year old. Now we have to pay $ 150 to get these stones tightened correctly on rush, and have the 3 stones aligned that Helzberg left crooked. Steer clear from chain jewelers!!!

I don’t normally give bad reviews but this really bothered me. There were 2 employees working and were with customers when I walked in. 2 people waiting at the counter. I understand that they needed to tend to rhe customers they were with but not one looked up and acknowledged us coming in or the 3 other people that followed in after. Common courtesy people!!! «I will be with you as soon as I can», «Sorry, we’re short staffed»…Hell! Smile! One lady came up to ring up her customer, didn’t smile the entire time and didn’t acknowledge anyone waiting. If you don’t have common customer service skills, get another job!

Employees are motivated by sales only. They don’t care about your personal taste in a ring… all they do is push the highest price tag… And if you’re not interested in the higher price tag… your service goes down the toilet… Go. Somewhere. Else.

Had a Movado fixed for $ 250, and two months later the battery died again. Warranty work is fairly smooth here but hoping we don’t have to go back a third time.

I love my Helzberg engagement and wedding ring, however, I do not love all the Helzberg Diamonds stores. This one is convenient for me to go to but I wish it wasn’t. I’d like to go elsewhere but other locations are just too far of a drive for me, but maybe I’ll suck it up for better service. I just feel like you’re not taken care of at this location, whereas at the Old Orchard location you always feel welcome there. I’ve taken my rings in to get them inspected and cleaned here a couple of times and this past time(which was last month), I felt like the sales person was rushing. I actually had to send my engagement ring back because there was still gunk on it. We have been remodeling our house and I shouldn’t have had my ring on, but I did. It was time for my ring to be inspected and cleaned anyway so I didn’t think it’d be a big deal. When she brought it back it didn’t even look like it had been cleaned, so I sent it back after showing her that there was still stuff under the diamond. When she brought it back, I just put it on and left. My ring shines no matter what but I feel like in the past when I’ve had it cleaned, it’s been really clean and shiny. I’d notice and be all, «wow.» I didn’t get that this time and I really feel it is because the employee rushed. She seemed to be in a hurry to get us in and out of there when the store was completely empty. In the past, my husband and I have not had pleasant experiences here and more and more I am contemplating going to another location.

BEWARE!!! They ruined my engagement ring. We came to this store to have the prongs on my ring shortened because they were a mm too long. They assured us that they knew how to do it and it wouldnt have been a problem. When we picked up the ring i notice the prongs just didnt look right. They were all different sizes and squared off on the top. Im not going to go into detail because i dont know all the correct jewler terminology. The ring just did not look right. We brought it to the sales womans attention and she gave us attitude said it looks fine to me. We showed her pictures of how it looked before and then showed her the ring she rolled her eyes and walked away. My fiancé and I felt like we were being attacked by their 4 salesmen. Stating we had no clue what we were talking about and i was just being a perfectionist??? Perfectionist!!! really ?? We now have to take our ring else where to fix it before our wedding which is next month. What a complete nightmare. All I have to say is DO not i repeat do not have any jewelry repairs done at this store. These people are horrible.

Let’s start by saying that I’m intimidated by jewelry stores. I brought in three pieces to get repaired under my warranty and I did not get the customer service that I usually do. The employee that helped me seemed to be very annoyed by me needing assistance. Mind you, the entire store was DEAD. Not a soul in there except me and the employees. I really don’t appreciate being made to feel like I putting someone out because they’re doing their job! After this past experience, I’m to take my business to another Helzberg.

to be honest, i wasn’t too impressed with this store. they had a pretty limited selection of diamonds, and the ones that they had weren’t that good. if you’re looking for an imperfect or not well-cut diamond(for a kid or something), go here. if you’re looking for something of better quality, there are other jewelry stores down the street that are better(see my other reviews)

They have quality diamonds and have good deals during thanksgiving and x-mas.
