Helpful staff, all veggie, tasty food. The samosa chat was tasty and filling~ the sweets I was okay with. I’m not used to the nut paste treats, but they were pretty good. I would go back again to further explore the menu; it didn’t stand out but it also didn’t fall short.

I’d have given Milan 3 stars. but the Sev Usal, Chole Bhature, and those little compressed cotton candy squares always save the day. The other dishes are are never consistent. And beware the Mango Lassi, I’d avoid it at all costs. Service is OK, I’ve had ridiculously long waits while people are chatting in the kitchen(though they can see that you’re waiting at the counter). A big red X in my book.

So I went over there yesterday for the first time. I did like the place. The samosa’s were great and so was the Dahi chat. The Dahi chat is definitely something great to try in summer. They also have a bar which does offer an assortment of different drinks which I was very pleasantly surprised. Now here is where things start going downhill. FYI, I am an Indian and I was talking to other non Indian customers about other restaurants in the area. Out of nowhere, the owner in the back, a lady starts screaming to us in Hindi about why we were talking about other restaurants at her place. Long story short, we had a big argument but in the end the owner apologized for her rudeness and comped us the meal !!. That was very nice on her but the I did not like the fact that my conversation(which actually I was complimenting the place) was being spied upon. I did like the food and the service and hence I am giving them 3 stars…

Bollywood music videos to move my head to… Service with a smile… Samosa chat with green peas… I always get an extra samosa… A dish so flavorful, spicy, unique, well-prepared… Belly-filling and mind-blowing… A whole meal for about $ 5 and some change… This is MY economic stimulus plan… What’s yours?

I first stopped in to Milan Chat while I was running around and needed a quick bite to eat. Not knowing there was a $ 15 credit card limit I also bought some tasty desserts. The lady at the counter was super friendly and let me try a slew of different desserts. I ended up ordering the Samosa Sandwich and bringing home a variety box of desserts, it was all super delicious. A friend of mine recommended a few other options to try for my next visit. Today I had the Mango Shake & the Masala Dosa — it’s a crêpe filled with potato and onions. Warning… The crêpe is huge! Not exaggerating, it was as big as my arm! I really enjoyed it, but the next time I order this dish I will have to split it with someone! ;) What I’ve tried so far: Samosa Sandwich — French Bread with Samosa, sweet sauce, and onions(a Samosa is deep fried potatoes & peas pastry) Masala Dosa — Crêpe filled with potato & onion Dahi Puri — Round Puri filled with potato, onion, sauces, & yogurt This is a small snack/fast food-like Indian restaurant. The people are always super friendly and helpful. And so far I have enjoyed everything I have tried. Try it!

WOW!!! How much a place can change in one year! And not in a «one bad experience» way — but really the overall quality of the food they provide now is really bad!!! This place has now become a pseudo hookah-bar and the food quality has gone down drastically! The aunty isn’t there anymore either and either her daughter, daughter-in-law or niece runs the place. The chaats are too watery and the food is stale and just not spiced right. They just put too much mirchi and not make it chat-pata, but rather just very jhaal! I was so disappointed because this used to be one of my favorite chaat-pav bhaji places in Chicago — and now it’s all watered away… =( :(

Do not go to this place. Here are a few reasons: 1) The menu prices are wrong. They charge you more and when u question it, they say the printers made a mistake on the prices. 2) Store is a little dirty. 3) I took an entertainment coupon(which is a well respected coupon) and I have used it thousands of places. But when i took it here, they did not want to honor it. Typical Desi’s! My wife and I left disgusted and told the lady who seemed to be the owner that they shouldnt do stuff like this, she started yelling and asking us to get out. She started using abusive language and told us not to come back. So basically, this is the type of shop this is. run by uneducated desi’s who bring a bad name. Go to Hot breads which has awesome food and is within 3 minute walking distance.

Come on guys.. .try the sweets! Indian sweets without the trip to Devon Avenue. The people were really very nice when I stopped in and offered to give me a taste– a lot of the sweets are an acquired taste– but give it a try– the cashew candy with the silver foil is wicked! And there is an orange looking concoction that should be illegal– it is really hard to stop eating.

Not really a restaurant — more like a café. Lots of quick options for a light meal. They have many different Indian snacks and sandwhiches. Some of their stuff is really spicy and tasty. Everything is usually always fresh and tastes pretty yummy!
