This place made me feel like I was part of a factory just pumping out prescriptions with little customer service or care. The little service I did get was stopped abruptly when I informed the employee I would not be purchasing glasses or contacts. She dropped me like a hot potato and moved on to the next sucker in line even though I had follow up questions. I should have known better — it took(literally) 8 days of calling every day to get someone to answer the phone so I could make an appointment. I would normally give up, but this is one of only a few places that takes my insurance. The person who answered made the process incredibly difficult. I had to suggest multiple days and she refused to just tell me when the next appointment was available. Finally, after suggesting six different days I miraculously found an open time slot. The eye exam was the fasted one I have ever experienced. The doctor had very little interaction with me and was not particularly personable. I felt rushed and invisible. I would rather pay for my exam than use my insurance to come here again.

Now«VisionWorks,» this eye doc HOLDSYOURSCRIPTHOSTAGE for a week until you call to let them know that your new contacts fit. THEN they make you«come in for a check-up» before they release your script because they don’t want you buying contacts from someplace else. Pretty sure it’s illegal and my next post is a complaint to the attorney general.

The staff is so unprofessional. They doctor gave me an inaccurate prescription and made me feel really uncomfortable when I told him that he wasn’t right. Never going back to this place again — they’re not worth anyones time.

I’ve never had a worse experience at the eye doctor. I’m sincerely disappointed by the service and staff here. The assistants and doctors are not friendly or helpful in the least. When performing the glaucoma test one assistant had to try no less than thirty times to get the puff of air in my eye — and that was only the left eye. Since I was a new patient I had to come back for them to check my contacts after a week — even though I have been wearing the same contacts for six or more years. I was told over the phone I didn’t need an appointment — that the contact check would only take five minutes and I could pick up my contact order. «Just stop by» she said. I drove a half hour to get here only to be told they couldn’t see me because I needed an appointment. They were extremely rude about the miscommunication. Don’t go here. I will be finding somewhere else to go when I need more contacts.

I had a terrible experience at this Empire Vision. I went into the store to get my glasses adjusted. There were no other customers in the store. There was one guy behind the main desk and a lady sitting at a table to my right looking at a box of assorted glasses. I had been waiting 15 minutes when I asked if someone was before me. I was told it would only be a few more minutes. This woman was still looking at the box of glasses. After 5 more minutes she showed me to a table. I showed her my glasses which needed adjusting. She placed the glasses on the table and twisted them around and them handed the glasses back to me and said«here you go» and promptly got up and left. She never tried them on me to see if the adjustments she had made were correct. I guess she had no interest in helping me because I was buying anything.

I’m quite satisfied with Empire at Mohawk commons, which has provided quick free repairs and has given us two fairly good quick eye exams. When we were covered by vision insurance, everything was quick and painless… But…now that we’re not, it’s become a bit of a pain in the keister to use these guys. For some reason my «I’m going to pay for this out of my own pocket» status caused a trebling of the amount of time it took to do my paperwork — was this deliberate? And then the frame selection just isn’t to my taste. I give them plenty of credit for being friendly and attentive, and for doing good fast repair work, so I’m by no means disrecommending them, to coin a phrase. But I can’t really give a fourth star to a place I’m not going back to because it’s just too expensive for frames I don’t want. Consider this a warm three stars and you can(and will, usually) do a lot worse elsewhere.

Incompetent staff. Poor selection of frames to choose from. I would NOT recommend this place to any of my family and friends.

Counter people are very nice(now that Borst is gone) and the optometrists and the contact lens salesgirls are very thorough. However, the process of picking out frames that are in/out of your insurance network is very shady but it’s been like that for years. Obviously the chain buys these frames in bulk at wholesale and marks them up exponentially. I ask how much my insurance will pay toward the frames, one person tells me ~$ 100 and when its time to pay I’m told that they will pay $ 0. But its the only optometrist in my network so they have quote the monopoly. Also, the last pair of glass I bought here are half framed, and the shop buffed the edges making them shiny. The new glasses I bought(paying cash) they didn’t buff, which just makes them look cheap. See ya in 2 years, I’ll start saving up now.
