This place is absolutely terrible. Yeah they give okay massages and it’s pretty cheap, but they lied about opening two locations just to get me to sign up for a membership. Then when I tried to cancel my membership WITH A NOTEFROMMYDOCTOR saying it was unsafe for me to receive massages, they give me a hard time. Terrible employees and terrible management. Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone looking for a «relaxing» experience.

I just had the best experience here! Everyone was so friendly and accommodating to my needs. My massage therapist was Jamie and she was super friendly! She worked out all my needs and focused on what I wanted. I would reccomend get to anyone! I had the best experience for my first massage. I will definitely be back.

Terrible! Terrible massage with no pressure and terrible facial, no extractions and layed there with a mask on that was starting to drip into my eyes as the girl was writing in the recommendations packet what she used on me. I heard about the products the whole time and never relaxed. The girl asked if needed more pressure and I said yes and never got it. The big kicker is this: Got the whole speal(I was prepared as I had a previous massage) about joining, etc… THEN… I went to pay using my gift card that my daughter purchased for me months in advance two cards, one for a facial and one for a massage and they told me because I already visited(the massage) I was now a non-member and would have to make up the difference. The card for the massage is $ 49.99. I had to pay another $ 40 to make up the difference. My daughter was NEVER told this when she purchased both cards at the same time. Never! I paid the amount and left. I called my daughter and she was so upset. I have since put a call into speak to management. The girl who answered said management was available but wanted to know the issue. After explaining, she put me on hold to speak to so called management. Then she came back on the phone and said someone would get back to me in a few days. I asked why in a few days and she said no one was there to speak to. This place is so UNPROFESSIONAL. Save your money and get a massage from Jessah or Dustin at Bears in Guilderland!!!

My rating may seem unfair here, because it’s not anything about the massage. Massage Envy, from what I have experienced, hires great LMTs. I would recommend them if you know in advance you want to become a «member’, which could be affordable and reasonable. But they corner you when vulnerable — ask you immediately following the massage whether you want to be a member now. Then they saturate you with multiple payment and member options, and recommendations for future up sells, in other words, with the money you save on your member rate, you can spend on these recommendations. And they do this all at once, so your calm head is now swimming with options, unless maybe you immediately say to them«I’d like to just check out». They do sidestep this possibility, of course, by telling you as you walk out of the massage that they want to «review your recommendations with you». Hit ‘em when vulnerable. In my case I hadn’t intended to even return, after my first experience where this same thing happened. But I had $ 11.00 left on a gift card. Incidentally, this is only because of an error on their part months ago, when I received only a 1 hour massage after telephone booking a 1.5 hour massage. I thought I’d be saving money on a massage with the remainder. But there is a $ 30 differential between«member» and«non-member» costs($ 49 vs $ 79 for 1 hour), so instead I felt bled dry — I’d already used up the«introductory rate»(which is a member rate you get on your first visit) — and stung with my defenses down. Isn’t the intent of a massage to help lower your defenses and relax, Massage Envy? Oh right, you know that. But quickly, I will say this: My massage itself was great. Very responsive, respectful and skilled LMT. And I don’t blame the desk staff for their business practices. ME certainly trains them in these practices. I guess this is what can happen when a wellness business gets into corporate/chain store hands. There are plenty of great practitioners in the area. I’ll stay local with my massages from now on.

This was a spur of the moment massage and it was wonderful!!! Very clean and friendly! Tim was very thorough with advising me what he was doing and listened to what my pain levels were. I was very impressed!

Great experience and service. My partner and I booked a couples room massage and we were both happy with the experience, service, and massages. My first time visiting a Massage Envy location and I hope they are all this well run and with the same level of professional staff.

Don’t be lured by promotional introductory pricing. This is a high pressure contract driven outfit that you should avoid. Turnover in both management and staff is horrendous. Most massage therapists are inexperienced and don’t provide satisfactory sessions. Contracts they try to force on you are very onerous and they will not let you out based on their poor service.

While visiting relatives in Schenectady, my wife badly needed work on her shoulder. As a Massage Envy member in Virginia, she tried the Balltown Road outlet. She was very pleased with the results and definitely recommends Kim, who worked on her.

I am a frequent spa goer and received a gift card from a co-worker to this establishment. I called and gave my credit card number over the phone as I was told this is required in order to hold an appointment and it will be charged if I am late or a no show. I was advised to arrive 15 minutes early as I did, and filled out the required paperwork. I was then informed that my aesthetician that I was originally booked with was«running late to work»(I was the first client of the day). So I was given Sara. She was very nice as a person, however her work was not. I received a facial and could barely feel anything. I asked if she could apply more pressure and she did not recommend that stating that«it is not good» I was laying there thinking what a waste of time and that I was bored. Next was the extraction process, I was surprised that she used her bare hands using her fingernails and a tissue to remove blackheads! She informed me this was the«policy of the salon as needles and lancer tools can cause scarring and lawsuits if someone is injured». This was the longest hour ever, this was not relaxing or enjoyable at all. Upon leaving I paid using my giftcard and tip in cash, the associate Meghan G. forgot to enter in my giftcard and told me the total. I explained to her I had handed it to her, and she had a look of confusion on her face, and then realized it was in her hand. Meghan then said that I needed to call the number on the back of my giftcard to get the balance, and they could not get that information. Luckily another girl overheard and came to help, she said there was a way to do it, but wasn’t exactly sure how to. So I waited almost 10 minutes for them to figure it out. Finally I was able to leave. When I arrived home, all of my blackheads were still present and my face did not have that usual spa glow that I get. I am so glad I did not have to fully pay for this visit as it was a complete waste of my time. There are many other Spas that charge less that have exceptional service. I highly recommend NOT going to this one.
