Great place! Gave the take-out a try after coming across a coupon, and enjoyed it so much I ordered catering for a business lunch the next week, to the delight of all my attendees. Delicious, fresh, made-to-order food and personalized service with a smile! Try it, you’ll like it — especially the paninis!

My sister and I went to Sandyes to grab some food while getting some work done on our laptops using their free wi-fi. Sadly, we found that Sandyes was not the type of place we wanted to hang around for long. The environment felt very lackluster and bland and, as the only customers there, we could easily overhear Sandye and her employee gossiping in the kitchen. The service was friendly and acquainting but overall unimpressive. The best part of Sandyes was definitely the food. My sister and I each got egg and cheese sandwiches with meat($ 5.95) and they were quite delicious. I opted out of getting the hashbrown for an extra 99 cents but received it anyway, which I was initially pleased about because she said I wouldn’t be charged for it, but was ultimately turned off by because it was as much grease as it was potato. I ordered a banana peanut butter smoothie as well. They don’t have a menu of smoothie flavors but rather will put together whatever you request if they have it. I was disappointed about the smoothie because rather than use fresh fruit they use artificially flavored syrup. Still tasted good, but didn’t make me feel good. The place seemed very disorganized — when we went to pay she was ready to charge me for the smoothie alone and not the breakfasts that we had finished about a half hour before(a mistake that would have been much more understandable if we hadn’t been the only customers in the café for 90% of our time there). When she rung up our food, we couldn’t tell if she added the cost of the hashbrowns or not and we did not receive a receipt breaking it down for us, which was a bit worriesome considering how disorganized they seemed to be. Put simply, Sandyes has good tasting food overall but some lacking in quality. It is not a great place to hang out, but perhaps worth stopping in for a quick bite or something to go. Prices aren’t bad but I won’t likely be returning after my unremarkable experience

This place should get together with Apostrophe in downtown Schenectady, because everytime I see it I think it’s the«Sand Yes» Café. In any event, Sandye with an ‘e’ is the proprietor, and superintends a friendly little breakfast and lunch place that has much to recommend it. There are only a few tables and three stools at the small counter, but it’s all very friendly and intimate if occasionally a bit crowded to get in and out of. This is the only real breakfast place in walking distance of the hospital(if you eat at the hospital cafeteria, you may run the risk of ending up in the hospital, IMHO) and does original if somewhat quotidian breakfast sandwiches/paninis. It’s more in the fast-casual than either fast or diner end of the spectrum — counter service and takeout — but it’s hearty and decent. Lunch sandwiches and wraps are a little more recommended as they tend to be of the ilk you can’t find in the vicinity — particularly wraps and salads. What the place lacks a bit in polish it makes up for in moxie. Better for sure than, say, Dennyes. Recommended for a stop by if not quite a destination.

The avocado veggie panini, with feta cheese, is very tasty. Good latte. Not the most efficient service, and at times overrun with HS students

It’s been a great spot to eat since it opened. I grab coffee the there in the morning daily, and it’s always hot and fresh. Their early hours allow for a nice shot of espresso before 7AM. I order my food ahead of time, typically and it’s always fresh when I since arrive. For someone in school, it’s a great way to grab a bite in the allotted half hour.

I pass by this breakfast and lunch spot quite often, but usually when I am in the area, it’s dinner time or later and Sandye’s is closed for the night, so I didn’t get to check this place out until recently. Sandye’s Café is located on Union Street, near Schenectady High School and Ellis Hospital, which is where I figure that they get most of their business from. There is a small dining area with a couple of high table, but I think that they do most of their business as a take out restaurant. Menu wise, they serve a lot of salads, baked goods, sandwiches, wraps and paninis, and in my case, I ordered a turkey cranberry wrap, which was tasty. The staff was also quite friendly, and clued me into various discounts that they offer, plus gave me a business card that also included small coupons for money off some of their menu items. I was pleasantly surprised by Sandye’s Café and it is definitely worth checking out.

Love the Buffalo wrap. Good cupcakes too. I only go for takeout though because it’s very small inside. I prefer that for lunch anyway so it’s perfect for me.

My mom and dad and I were in the area for a wedding and needed to grab a bite before the festivities. Sandye’s was perfect. The wraps and sandwiches were generous and tasty, and Sandye made me a very pleasant Caprese salad. Julia was our server, and her sharp-tongued humor was a hoot! She and my dad went back and forth for a while and it felt just like home. They even stayed open late just for us. Thanks, guys!
