Great portions, excellent taste, with a drink, and very friendly staff. Not so busy to prevent good, friendly service.

We don’t submit Unilocal comments that often, but feel like we should after reading the other reviews which brought us in to this restaurant. In summary, we were disappointed. Too bad our experience was much different than stated in the other reviews. We ordered the carnitas burrito and the carnitas plate. Unremarkable, bland, and not very generous. The price was high for what we got. Service was flat; no smiles; got one of our orders wrong and didn’t have the grilled onions that I wanted added to the burrito; chose not to wait for them to grill more. Cashier asked if my wife wanted guacamole, she said yes, and we were surprised that it was an extra $ 1.80 for a small plastic cup of guacamole. The food was luke warm. Nice clean place though, but we won’t return. The only thing that may have contributed to this was that we went in at 8:00 pm, but that’s not an excuse for the lack of quality.

I wrote my original review very near to when they first opened, five stars then, five stars now. This place has only gotten better since its original opening and it definitely shows. Between new recipes on the menu, a rotating weekend buffet, and just a general awesome atmosphere from the people working there makes Chilangus one of my favorite places to eat. I don’t even bother with competitors anymore because I feel like I missed out on going to Chilangus instead. I really love that in just under a year they have evolved so much from a place that was already great. You can tell they’ve been listening to customers and reflecting on the reviews they’ve gotten, which is extremely appreciated these days. Seriously folks, if you like quality Texmex /mexican food at a price that wont leave you broke, you need to check this place out. I highly recommend the family meal for 20 dollars. It’s enough food for my fiancé and I to have dinner and lunch the next day.

The food here is so good. It is not tex-mex food, it is more traditional Mexican and all the food is made from scratch. The spices are flavorful but not hot. I haven’t tried anything that failed. The service is a bit quirky. It is set up cafeteria style with plastic plates and utensils but the prices are very reasonable and people friendly. One problem I had though… the hours on Google were wrong for Saturday morning. Google said 8 but the door sign reads that they open at 10.

Fantastic rice. Very well cooked and perfectly seasoned. I had the street tacos(Al Pastor) and I can confidently say quality is one of their priorities, the meat was cooked correctly and all flavors were close to those of Mexico.

Very attentive staff and very clean customer area. Light colored tables with comfortable metal chairs. Convenient self serve refills of teas and sodas. Rolls of paper towels on the tables were great, especially with a messy eater for a daughter! We ordered four items: 1) cheese enchiladas with green sauce for my daughter. Although she was apprehensive about the green sauce because it was the mildest(she usually gets red); she liked the meal. I tried a bite and found them delicious! 2) beef street tacos: the meat was delicious, but I had to ask for limes, which usually automatically come with them… 3) beef fajita nachos: the cheese sauce was cold, so made for an odd meal, but the meat was great and it was nice to pick the toppings put on top. May ask for grated cheese melted next time. 4) chips and salsa: really good! The salsa was smokey chipotle but not too spicy. The chips were fresh, light and crunchy. We are every last crumb! All the food was good, but the refried beans really stood out. They were very flavorful without being too salty. Also, we could eat the chips all day and night!

Very good authentic Mexican food. Super friendly staff. Had the breakfast buffet. Nice variety. It took me a while to figure out that they did have options such as pancakes. Delicious food.

Thought we’d try it out. Got there ½ hour before closing. They’d already cleaned up and had no food to serve. Lost this customer.

Well, I would have taken a picture, but I couldn’t put it down. I had the green chili burrito. I literally couldn’t put it down. This place is very clean and has a great atmosphere! The staff was amazing too. Probably the best service I’ve received at a casual dining. It is a local place but runs and feels like a worldwide chain! Very smooth! Love it love it!

Good stuff. As truly authentic you can get as fast food. As mentioned, the subway of Mexican food. Order as you like it. Meat options are plenty and flavorful. Horchata also available.

I have had the pleasure of dining here twice, and have been impressed both times. The first time, the boyfriend and I had NO idea what we were going to order, and we were greeted by who I assume, were the owners. VERY nice, VERY patient, offered us different samples, so we could decide. The boyfriend got the meat plate with the pork, and he has raved about it ever since. I was sick, so I got the tortilla soup and a crispy chicken taco. Both were amazing. We visited again on Tuesday, and once again, the boyfriend got the pork, this time with their Tuesday Chile Relleno special, and a shrimp taco. He INHALED his food, and loved it. I got a burrito bowl with their shredded chicken, which I LOVE. I like that I am able to choose what I want, versus having to say, NO this or that. I am definitely a fan and will be back! Staff is very helpful, and the food is FRESHFRESHFRESH!

I really love this place. It’s family owned and the owners are really nice. The food is great and the prices are just right. They are very accommodating when comes to building your own taco or burrito. I eat there at least three times a week.

Well, the food tasted good and seemed fresh, but between the employees having trouble explaining the options and the overall speed of the process, we felt like everything was moving in Slllooowww mmmmoootionnnnn. Not worth the 7 min detour on our way to San Antonio.

We were looking for a more«sit down and order place», but it really surprised us how friendly the owner was and also his staff. They«reeled» us in by asking what we wanted and gave us options that worked! The owner also came from behind the counter and made sure we were great! The food was awesome! It was quick and easy! For lunch, it would be great!

Great service and great tasting food!!! Owner was very friendly and gave us samples of the different meats before we ordered. Pork burrito was loaded and very tasteful. I will definitely be back to Chilangus.

Atmosphere is nice and has a Chipotle style theme. You walk up to counter and build a burrito or tacos just like some of the more popular burrito chains. Food tasted fresh and burrito with barbacoa was super tasty. This is an awesome place to have in the area and I will be coming back again.

I went for breakfast. All they serve is tacos or empenadas. No breakfast plates like Huevos Rancheros. I will not go back for breakfast. I like my Huevos Rancheros. I am excited however to try this place out for lunch or dinner. If I understand correctly, unless the lady with a heavy Mexican accent did not understand me… she nodded yes when I asked and confirmed that their beef was grass fed and chicken antibiotic free. If this is the case, I am sold. We need an all natural restaurant around here. She said they even make their own Barbacoa. O and she said the flour tortillas are homeade. Altho they looked packaged. Very thin and perfectly too round if you ask me. If you want a tex-mex restaurant stick with Jaliscos up the road. This is NOT it.

Stop by with my babies. Ordered 2 burrito specials and 2 shrimp tacos. Service was great. I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door. It was not busy during lunch. I know when people find this place it sure will be packed. We had a Asada burrito with everything in it. The burrito was so huge it couldn’t close. You do have to pay extra for guacamole. One burrito was enough for my daughter and I to share. Everything is served like my favorite burrito place outside of UCB campus. You can watch them build your buritto. We ended up taking the second burrito home for my husband. The kids enjoyed the shrimp taco. They said it was the best. :) We ordered a side of chips and salsa. They had flour and corn tortilla chips mixed with a side of fresh salsa. The food was delicious. 1 star for facilities 1 star for food 1 star for service 1 star overall expiriance –star for restrooms because we didn’t go to the restrooms.

Recommended!!! I’ve eaten here twice and I will definitely be going back for more. The food there is very good. The first time I went I had the 3 taco plate with barbacoa. The barbacoa was so good, and the Guacamole was just as tasty. For the 3 taco plate, with guacamole plus a water cup(which I assume was free) my meal was 10 $. The only reason I didn’t give this place 5 stars is because the portions are a bit on the smaller size. For the price I paid I expected to be able to stuff my face with all the food, but it was just enough food to hold me over to my next meal.

Tiny portions for the price. Tried 3 tacos– shrimp, fish and pork with green Chile. The portions were realllly small. I was disappointed as soon as I saw him drop the food onto the grill. Plus, the shrimp wasn’t even whole shrimp — but random bits and pieces. The fish was passable, but noting to brag about(it was also small pieces of unidentifiable fish), the shrimp had a good flavor, as did the pork. The guacamole was pretty bland and tasteless. BUT — after eating 3 tacos and half an order of guacamole and chips — I WASSTILLHUNGRY — and ended up going to another restaurant to eat again! I’m a normal size guy, 6ft tall and in shape, so I wasn’t looking for a huge meal — just something satisfying. For the prices they charge, the portions should be much larger. Won’t be going back. * BTW –Not sure who wrote the introduction/“From the business” for the restaurant, but the«English» was on about a 5th grade level.
