Our first time here. Horrible service. We were completely ignored. We left after 10 minutes.

The Torta is amazing! I love it! I would change the tortillas, however. In my opinion, they are not good at all. Very thin and not much of a taste. The food inside of them is yummy though! The rice milk, forgot the name, is not always consistant with it‘s taste. I do like the barbacoa! The prices are reasonable too!

Great food. Pretty much everything on the menu is a great choice and probably the closet thing authentic Mexican food in the area. The only bad thing is that service can be inconsistent as I see in unrecognizable faces every time I visit, which results in poor waiting. Would recommend to friends.

I decided to give this place a try since I was new to the area and I was extremely impressed the carne guisada with cheese tacos were soooo good and the tortillas had a homemade taste. Very impressed I will go back again…

Beware! This place is habit forming! I had the breakfast tacos. You don’t have to buy them in threes. Maybe that’s just for take out? I had two bean and cheese and one egg and potato. My hubs had the carne asada burrito and my son had the pancakes, bacon and eggs again. All delicious. It was pretty packed when we arrived. Our bill was only $ 14 plus some change before tip. What an amazing deal! Honestly, this time I overindulged, I really should have had just two breakfast tacos. I just couldn’t help myself. I must say the complimentary salsa that came with the chips was really good this time around.

I looove El Jalisco. I honestly believe they have some of the best Tex-Mex in the area. This is the place that makes other hole in the wall Tex-Mex restaurants I try seem disappointing. El Jalisco is a perfect place for a week night dinner with the family. Prices are GREAT, especially if you can take advantage of the military discount. I usually end up tipping way more because of that, but I think they really deserve it! The owner and waitresses are always very friendly and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed everything I’ve ordered there. Lately I’ve been really into their Tacos Al Carbon though! Can’t go wrong with fresh cilantro, caramelized onions, grilled beef, and queso fresco on warm corn tortillas. If you haven’t already, give them a try.

Good food here, however, be aware that on larger orders, we’ve had the cashier charge us for 2 or three extra items on three separate occasions. I stopped going because of that and it JUST happened again this morning. It’s now a trend, not an accident. She charged me for 2 extra tacos and for 2 coffees because I asked for a to-go cup for the one I ordered. Bad business practice.

Nice place for a Sunday morning breakfast. Barbacoa is tender and lean. No gristle and fat. The menudo broth is a rich, spicy red Mexican nectar that is up there with the best I’ve had. Their coffee is also well above average. I had three refills that each came with a smile. A mariachi trio was even in the house playing Elvis songs. Skip the potatoes.

I’ve driven by this place a million times and never went in, probably because it doesn’t face the street. That has been my loss I can now say. The chips were good and the salsa was great. I had the ‘Schertz’ plate which had plenty of food. The two cheese enchiladas were very tasty; the refried beans actually had real favor(many restaurants’ don’t). The beef puffy taco was quite tasty, especially with with the pico! The been and cheese chalupa was also tasty. Amazingly, I actually liked the guacamole which is amazing because I very rarely ever have any that I like or will eat. The fresh tortillas were quite good as well. I will most definitely be back! The place itself is nothing fancy, but the staff were very friendly and the food arrived quickly after we ordered it. The prices are very reasonable as well! Glad I stopped in! Who knew?

The Best Breakfast Tacos in Schertz, Texas and the prices are the lowest I’ve seen. We usually call ahead of time on the weekends, because this place is always packed. Any combination is great, but I’m partial to their bacon, egg, potato, and cheese tacos. They always include plenty of their delicious green, and red salsa; neither are overly hot. My family likes to sleep in on the weekends; no problems ordering breakfast tacos for lunch here. Highly recommended!

When in doubt, order up some bean and cheese tacos. They’re delicious, and super cheap. And their tortillas are pretty damn good, way better than Taco Cabana’s or any other chain restaurant’s. Add their green salsa and BAM! So good. Even though the very same bean and cheese tacos I adore gave me food poisoning once, I still cannot help but love them. Everything else I’ve tried has been a’iight. Edible, but they gave me the ever-so-familiar Mexican food stomach ache. I’m a little weary to try anything else on the menu. I work across the street from this place, and my co-workers are never not eating El Jalisco tacos! hahah

Well we picked this on the fly buzzing 70mph down 35 on our way to the coast… Looking for some breakfast grub. And what a sweet little find this was… A bit off the highway, but well worth the drive… Customer service was something else. Near perfect… Quickly greeted at the door, with all smiles and quickly whisked away to our table… Place was jumping with business… Lots of 2-GO Orders… The greeter was even taking orders of people standing in line to get Food to Go. What a concept. All the rest of the staff was super friendly… Although early. wife wanted queso as well. This did fall short for us, but with some magic sauce out of the little red bottle, not bad at all… Chips and salsa was also tasty… For the price this place just cant be beat. At all.Wife had the Bacon and egg plate, not beans and Taters, and myself a Migas Plate and at $ 5 a plate… wow…everything was really good, hot and fresh… Both the green sauce and red sauce were packed with flavor and a nice touch drizzled on my Taco… made with the fresh tortillas that came with the meal… Good thing for us… Schertz is not that far… We will be back to try there lunch.

If you’re looking for Tex-Mex that’s a little more Mex, this is the place. Awesome barbacoa on the weekends and a mariachi band give it a little extra kick out of the ordinary. Just about everyone in here is speaking spanish, so you know they must be doing something right. The breakfast options include breakfast tacos either for here or to go, which is a nice addition you don’t see in a lot of places Yum!

You know it’s good real food when 99% of the patrons are from the same ethnicity as the foods being served. Pros: Very reasonable prices. «Barbacoa» melts in your mouth(reminiscent of brisket) Cons: strange entrance, easy to miss from the road. Not a place to bring on your first dates.

Has that hole in the wall charm. Not the place I would go for a fancy dining experience, but if you’re looking for the best Mexican food in the North East, El Jalisco wins hands down. Been a few times, my favorite is their Carne Asada. :) Their Tres Leches is also good.

I wish I could pick El Jalisco up and bring it up to Austin! There are great Mexican joints in Austin, but this place is as close to perfection as I have experienced. Whenever I am in the area, El Jalisco is a MUST! I have a difficult time straying away from their menudo. It has a rich peppery broth that is perfectly balanced savory goodness. It has a balance of salty and spicy and a great earthiness to it. The ratio of tripe to hominy is in favor of the tripe, which is just the way I like it. The tripe is tender and plentiful. After the addition of lime, cilantro, and onions… it transforms into a bowl of perfection. The tacos carbon are a great standout for me as well. Perfectly cooked, well seasoned beef. Moderate amount of topping allow the protein to take center stage. I realize I really need to expand and try the other items, like the barbacoa which I have heard so many great things about. But damn… that menudo just hits the spot every time! If you ever happen to find yourself in these neck of the woods, don’t miss out on a great meal!
