In most cities I’ve lived in there are usually 2 huge chains of grocery stores. Like St. Louis there was Dierbergs and Schnucks. (Dierbergs was my choice for their fresh foods to go and produce). In South Florida people pick Publix or Winn Dixie. I’ve been a bigger fan for Publix for the same reason I liked Dierbergs it was always fresher. Well welcome to Texas where everything is bigger in Texas. No room for a #2 store in San Antonio when you have a HEB. This place has everything from garden stuff, jewelry a few small toys, employees cooking or doing the wine area, free sushi samples (most of the time), huge area of fresh meats, veggies, cheese, and wines.
The company really has thought out convenience. They have cup holders on the carts, disinfectant wipes in the cart area, a restaurant at this location, the meat department is awesome and fast.
Best part of my trip when I bring my daughter is HEB bucks. They give your child a few pieces of fake money to put in the wheel to spin (think Wheel of Fortune) and they get points to go towards a prize. I’m not above telling my daughter if she’s a hot mess in the store, she isn’t getting her HEB bucks.
So yes HEB you rock. I’m a huge fan and if I have to ever move again the other stores have big shoes to fill like the size of Texas.

If you want to shop in peace, without shopping «tourist» (those who park their carts in the middle of the isles and block the isles with their body, staring at the ceiling!!) OR folks who let their kids RUN freely… go very early in the morning… like when it first opens!

This is an incredible grocery store. It has everything and their prices are very, very reasonable.

I spoke with Willie about possibly ordering whole dungeness crab. He was super helpful and courteous. It’s so nice to call a business where the employees are so eager to help!
Their produce dept is really nice and has a lot to offer. The bakery dept also impressive. Fresh breads and donuts. They even have macarons here! I’m still exploring this place. It is huge.

Love the layout… Very convenient. I could do without the shops in the middle. Staff are friendly and helpful. Store is clean. They always have great samples. Only complaint is the parking is awful! I’ve given up on shopping here a few times because I can’t find parking.

Deli trays are always tasty… Meat selection is very good. Produce department needs work. This being TX I would expect a larger selection of chile peppers. They’ve never heard of a Fresno chile even though Central Market has them… I also don’t like that the dairy is right next to dog food. Not a good flow to the store and the aisles are too tight. Convoluted set up next to seafood area and bananas are either very green or completely gone.
I can get in and out of Walmart faster because I’m not stuck in aisle traffic jams. But they discount wine, so that’s the 2^nd star.

I love my local HEB store. Has almost everything you need in one place and the prices are good too.
Service is very friendly and if you look lost like I do often a partner will come up to you and ask if you need help lol.

Ok I love this super store but 4 stars since parking and trying to exit can be a nightmare. Guess they can’t help being popular. I’m still trying to find fried won ton toppers for salad – can’t find anywhere!

It was telling that EMS had pulled up just as I arrived, probably to collect the most recent customer to succumb to this store’s apathy.
Cosmetically, it’s a nice store, but, as I have found to be the case with the Plus store in Kyle, it has no soul or character. I think at some point, these stores get too big and lose their sense of HEB identity and community. For some inexplicable reason, the Plus stores seem to always be reduced to vast wastelands of mass-​merchandise serviced by uncaring and disinterested staff who can’t be bothered to be customer-​friendly (i.e. Walmart).
The abysmal service I received at their pharmacy desk early one Saturday morning is a great case-​in-​point. Staff minimally complied with my simple request, without stating why they won’t fully comply – one that another location honored just two days before. The pharmacist-​on-​duty when I was there early Saturday morning (an older blonde female) was perfectly content to shelter in place behind her pharmacy helm so as not to interact with customers. Instead she let the technicians deliver the puzzling verdict to the customer.
[Op. Ed. I’m not sure why one becomes a pharmacist if it’s not to help people. Cranky has no place in healthcare.]
The pharmacy staff’s blasé attitude extends to other departments. This isn’t a matter of a staff shortage, mind you, since staff members can be all around you stocking, yet still fail to offer help. I finally found one staff member stocking snacks across from the frozen food section who broke a smile in response to mine – but no offer of assistance. Ultimately, the finger has to point at impoverished unit management for not motivating the staff to excel.
Sadly, the attitude of the staff is mirrored in the attitude of the customers. Of the dozens I saw, only one who appeared cheerful. To put it bluntly, I’ve seen zombies with more zest for life.
So I concluded this must just be an unhappy area of metropolitan San Antonio, likely inhabited by nouveau riche in debt up to their eyeballs. Either that, or hayseeds who never have recovered from losing their triple-​tin-​shed «flagship» Garden Ridge store across the highway.
Otherwise, come here to load up your groceries, and carry on. As for me, I’m done.

This used to be a great store. I went almost every day. Since the «upgrade,» I avoid it as much as possible. Just getting through the parking lot is hazardous. The store is poorly laid out (who puts canned goods and baking supplies on the same aisle and the rest of the baking goods on another aisle?). Customer service, which was one of the best things about the store, has all but completely disappeared. People now come from other cities to go to this store. I now go to HEBs in other cities.

better than shopping at Wal-​Mart. Recently transformed into Plus, and has a restaurant with a STACKED menu. hell, they’re food isn’t just MUTHAFUCKIN DELICIOUS, it’s not deep fried laxatives like at Walmart.

Contrary to some of the other commenters regarding the Deli, I love the Deli staff. I never feel rushed even though I order small amounts of several cold cuts & cheeses. I go back more than twice a week to purchase deli because the brand I use goes bad fast & my kids don‘t always eat the cuts right away. The staff may not always greet me. But hey, I‘m not in a restaurant. If I need help & nobody is at the counter, I simply say, excuse me, & someone gives me their attention. If I forget to take a #tag & get helped after another person whose arrived after me, well too bad for me. The service is not the fastest, however, the manner in which they wrap up what they have just sliced is important. I appreciate their efforts in attempting to keep the items fresh. Perhaps they need to hire more people. Employees are human. We cannot expect perfection. Perhaps people in a rush need to realize not everyone is in a rush & is not going to slack off or pause their plans for them. I do not care for the parking lo & the fact that drivers speed through the lanes like they have an emergency, ALL THE TIME. I think good amount of a speed bump would help a lot!
I don‘t give 5 stars because not every place or person is perfect! Remember that when you are in the deli or the meat market or sushi area or bakery. Keep in mind you are shopping in a public place that is busy & employees should not have to rush or have sore jaws from fake smiling. You never know what someone else is going through. Sick child with cancer, sick child, loss of a family member or friend, divorce, abusive spouse or boyfriend, debt! You just never know what might be on someone‘s mind. Whether they work in public place or not, they are human, like you.
HEB corporate office, know that you do have customers who appreciate the hard work your employees put forth. I cannot understand why people are complaining about the Deli employees. However, I can understand people make mistakes & cannot always be as cheerful as Chick Fil A employees.

The only reason in giving them 4 stars is because the parking lot is always full and it’s a hassle to park. They recently converted this store into an HEB plus. It was kind of annoying to shop there during the construction because things were always being moved around… But that’s understandable so I’m not taking it into consideration when rating them. Since its conversion the wait time at check out has drastically improved. The service is usually friendly and courteous. Before the conversion I would always have produce items rung up incorrectly and snotty cashiers but since they expanded I have seen lots of improvement. Since I have a 5 year old I am occasionally having to run I to their restroom and there has not been a time where its been messy. It’s ALWAYS been clean and neat… Also the soap dispenser is always full.

After going in for a consolation for wedding flowers it wasn’t until 4 weeks later that I had to make a call & ask about the price.
The lady who helped us told me THEY would get back with me in about 5 days.
When I called them to ask about it, she told me they had been so busy with Mother’s Day and prom. But I had had my consultation 4 weeks before all of that. So that’s why I am giving 1 star. Poor service and slow at getting back to you.
Excited to use a different florist, who got back with me in 3 days.

Excellent friendly service with a smile. A definate must try for anyone in the area. Worth a drive even if not local. Great tap beer selection for this type venu

This is a nice door. One thing they could do to make it a great store is is to have employees park in the back of the parking lot. Everybody I know in Schertz hates coming here because of the parking. Here it is 5:45 AM the store is not open, all these cars belong to the employees. Come 8 o’clock when the stores is busy there’s no parking for customers.

This store is the worst. I drove thru parking lot while they force us to pass thru construction area where workers have left out trash that damaged my vehicle HEB took no effort to clean up mess and said they were not liable for the trash there construction team left out. I am now having to sue them in Small Claims court.

Parking lot still crap, busiest traffic corner in the area, prices highest even though they claim low! Car wash is awfull, the don’t seem to realize that spot free since is low pressure and there is no wax??? Valero next door is much better! All in all, HEB is steeling compared to brand name items at Walmart and Target! In the time that HEB started this expansion in an small corner destroying any sense of spatial awareness, Walmart has planned and built another store 2 miles away!

My review is simply for the wonderful florist at this HEB Blooms. I had my wedding flowers done here as it was the closest HEB to my venue and the women in the florist shop were an absolute delight. From the very first meeting about my design concepts all the way to the delivery the day of my wedding! I was kept in the loop if anything changed, and they were always so friendly. Also, they had tons of ideas and creative ideas to bring to the table. I was very pleased! :) Thank you so much!

The produce and meat dept are far fresher than their competitors. The yellow coupons hanging all over the place and are easy to find. My wife clips coupons from the Sunday paper but often finds a better coupon hang right there with the item she’s looking for. They are a Texas based company and very supportive if the community they are in. We love EVERYTHING about them!
