Ordered and eating a large Italian Alfredo Pizza. It is really tasty but the cook didn’t put very much meat on it at all. Far better than papa johns or little caesars for sure. I probably would give this place a higher rating, but… 1. when I initially called to have a pizza delivered to my hotel room(actually this appears to be the ONLY restaurant in town that delivers) I was told i could only pay in cash. 2. after getting ready, driving to the atm and then going inside to pick up my order I still had to wait a little longer than necessary to get it and pay. 3. nobody seemed to be in a big hurry and there were only about 5 tables seated and ample staff. 4. the pizza crust seemed less fresh than dominos or pizza hut. Overall, I’d give the place another try and order something besides the pizza to see what else they are good at.

Stopped in here on the way to San Antonio. People were really nice, but we ordered a small pizza and fried pickles and it took an hour and a half… on a Wednesday night… In the bustling town of Schulenberg population all of 36… And the place was not that busy. When the food finally came it was just okay, nothing special. Worst of all, I asked the waitress about 45 minutes into our wait if it was almost ready and she assured me that it was very close. 45 minutes after that when we were standing up to leave she comes running out with the mediocre food. Yeah she flat out lied. What a shame because the people and place had great small town flair. Too bad the food and wait time did not.

If you’re thinking about stopping here for lunch, you better check their new hours. According to their website the restaurant is open for lunch on Saturdays only. I guess we’ll find another place for a stop on our way to the hill country. Doesn’t look good for this place.

The food we ordered was absolutely delicious, but it’s best if you don’t show up hungry. It takes forever to get your food. There aren’t very many small tables. They had a small amount of people and only two waitresses. Service wasn’t the best. The wait for our food was very long and we had a very simple order. Fried pickles, Nacho fries, and Small Cesar salad. After waiting to be able to order, it took us 45 minutes to get our food. The two waitresses working spent most of their time sitting at the bar and chatting with people they knew. A chef from the kitchen actually came out and sat at a table the entire time they ate their meal. The food is excellent, but the people working aren’t the best.

I needed a decent place to eat before a half marathon the next morning in Shiner, so I was glad to find Momma’s. The Cajun fish was excellent, and the side vegetables were tasty, too. The chocolate pie… oh my. Service was great, and the ambiance was cool.

The service here is a complete joke! Waited for over 30 minutes to get our drinks, which only happened after we got up and got them ourselves. After another 10 minutes the waiter came to collect our order but instructed us the menu was limited this evening due to a large group coming in, that was fine, we all ordered hamburgers. After 30 minutes the waiter came back and told us he wasn’t able to get our order in before the kitchen closed to prepare for the large group that had come in and that the kitchen wouldn’t reopen for another 1 hour. He asked if we’d like to WAIT? I’ll let you guess the answer to that question!

Great place to dine, relax, have some drinks & fun. The food is never disappointing. No matter what you may be hungry for, great juicy burger, my favorite is the Cowboy Burger(onion rings & bacon). Fantastic pizza, hand made to your likings, family recipe handed down by his Mother who was known for the best pizza in town :-) Yummy Schnitzel, German potatoes & Sausage. Roast beef, fried fish, that’s just naming things I’ve tried. The staff & atmosphere are the best, I can promise you WILLNOT be disappointed. If you need catering for a special event they go above & beyond, their presentation & menu is the best I’ve ever seen. I can’t say enough great things about Senglemann’s, you just have to try them for yourself!

Cowboy Burger was delicious! Also had the Fried Pickles which were also great. Good service. Will have to try this place again one day and get something else. Recommended if you’re in the area.

We usually hit Schulenburg as our halfway mark from Houston to San Antonio. Franks is the spot most people see from the freeway, but it leaves a cafeteria impression in my mind. I convinced my mom to try Sengelmann Hall on a Saturday for lunch. The place is very antique looking with hardwood floors. The tables sit large groups and it is very reminiscent of days past, when eating was communal. Everything we ordered from schnitzel, to a cheeseburger, to pizza was very tasty. I got the Cowboy Burger and didn’t leave a bite to share. The yam fries were particularly great. Where the regular fries although fresh cut, needed some seasoning. This will certainly be our new stop, if they happen to be open when we roll through town. We left quite satisfied. 4 stars only because more gravy was an up charge.
