I had the black and white cupcake last weekend and I never had a cupcake so delicious in my life! I wish they had another shop in Phoenix because it’s a hike for me to get a cupcake there… but if I’m in the area, I’ll be stopping back.

I love how cute the store is. I believe the owner was the person helping me and she was very nice! I came in on a Monday and was hoping to taste their macarons. Unfortunately, she says they don’t serve it until later in the week. So I ordered half a dozen of cupcakes instead. They all looked so pretty, I love how they all looked — It was hard for me to pick which flavors to get. I would have to say the icing was pretty good, very smooth and just the right amount of sweetness! I could just eat that. But unfortunately the cake was dry. I barely ate it, the crumbs kept on falling all over and the cupcake itself was falling apart. I’d come back to try their macarons though.

Best cupcake place I have been to in the area. They are very good about allergies for anyone that has any. They never cross contaminate and always ask before boxing multiple cupcakes together! Not only are they attentive and friendly but the cupcakes themselves are phenomenal! Perfectly moist and excellent frosting. I have tried all their flavors! All are impeccable!

Quite possibly the best cupcake I’ve ever eaten. My fiancé picked up a couple as a surprise yesterday, and I had the sea salt caramel and chocolate cupcake. Omg… It was heavenly and sinful all at the same time. The only thing I would say that wasn’t completely 5 star-worthy was the packaging — here me out, I know that sounds weird. The cupcakes don’t come in a normal cupcake wrapper, they come in a very pretty, more artistic kind of wrapper. So they look awesome, but a significant amount of the cake stuck to the wrapper when I was eating it; I would say about 10−15% of the total cupcake was left on the wrapper. Other than that, if you’re looking for an awesome cupcake, this place is ahhhhmazing! My advice for the owners is to wrap them in something a little less artsy and a little more cupcake-friendly.

From a fellow Pastry Chef, this place has unbelievable cupcakes! But wait, you’ll also find the VERYBEST Double Chocolate Cherry brownies. They are to die for! As a chef, I don’t give food based reviews so freely. You have to be really unique or really amazing at what you do. I’ll definitely be back for more of those brownies!!!

We are from out of town and ordered a gender revealing cake to surprise my folks who live in Scottsdale. We stopped by 21 on the way in from our drive from LA. To our surprise, the cake didn’t get made and they couldn’t find the order. Even before we showed the receipt that we were charged they apologized and offered to go bake a cake which could be ready in an hour or so. They gave us back our money, pumped blue frosting into 8 cup cakes to replace the cake and gave our two dogs water and biscuits… oh and didn’t charge us for the cup cakes. While we waited for our cupcakes we ate two cupcakes and both were great. What could’ve been a not so good experience, turned out to be a very nice experience. Mistakes happen, it’s how you respond to your mistake and 21 responded great. Thank you for our cupcakes!

A delightful little place to pick up a cupcake for a quick sweet treat. Very clean and welcoming atmosphere. Staff is friendly. Cupcakes are light and flavorful.

Stopped back for a cupcake, but Linda is not baking too many choices these days. New places are opening with 20 or so flavors and crazy combinations, but this place is just putting out the standards and getting lazy in terms of creativity. The most exciting of the nine or so cupcake varieties available was snickerdoodle and the better of the two we picked was German chocolate cake. It is either $ 3,50 or $ 4 for a cupcake and they are bigger than normal, but not as exciting as possible.

0 stars, if you want to be taken for your money and disrespected by the owner go here. Only reason this place is still in biz is because of the location and because people in Scottsdale are willing to pay 5 dollars for a cupcake that is sub pair to most any large chain cupcake store. Wow you use only real butter congratulations on the BS reason to eat your brand. If you had to rely on quality personality to run a biz then this place would be out of biz already.

This is a gorgeous little place with über cute décor. Unfortunately though, out of the 3 items I purchased, only one tasted good. The plain shortbread cookie gets a big thumbs up from me. Nice flavor & very light texture. However the cranberry orange shortbread cookie was A CULINARYABOMINATION along with the pink champagne cupcake. They were very, very sweet and really had an unpleasant taste I can’t fully describe. With regard to the cupcake, both the batter AND the frosting were offensively bad. This is a rare & spectacular failure. In my experience, it’s usually either the batter OR the frosting that’s icky. In this case it was BOTH! Ick and yikes! I am someone who has almost NEVER met a dessert/baked good I couldn’t finish. I am a sugar aficionado to my core. I can choke down even the most mediocre of cupcakes. Because sugar = life. So the fact that I took a bite of each of these items and then promptly tossed them in the trash surprised even me. Also it’s mega overpriced. $ 4 for this repugnant cupcake? This place needs to pick a struggle– crappy taste AND expensive? In what universe does that fly?!

The seasonal pumpkin is absolutely the best. The cake is super moist and delicious and the cream cheese frosting sets it off! I thought I had exaggerated my memories of how delicious this was but I got one the other day and my husband agreed. Delicious!

Much better than sprinkles cupcakes. The salted caramel is delicious and you can get it everyday not just certain days like sprinkles has. The cashier wasn’t all that friendly but the cupcakes were the best I’ve had in a very long time.

The 21 Cakes team did a great job with my baby gender reveal cake. All my wife and I knew was that we wanted blue or pink MMs to pour out of the cake when we cut it. However, since we are the two most un-creative people on the planet, we left it to 21 Cakes to help us with the rest. They had tons of great ideas and designed an awesome cake. It looked great, tasted great, was reasonably priced, and was done ahead of schedule. Most importantly, we had no idea what was going to come out of the cake until we cut it because they left no trace or clue. I would definitely use them again for any event that requires cakes or cupcakes! BTW…It’s a boy!!!

The owner was working when we stopped by to try a treat with our family. I asked her for her recommendation between two cupcakes that I couldn’t decide between. She responded very pretentiously that she made the cupcakes & that she’s been making them for years both were made perfectly. She was rude & very snobby. I’m pretty laid back, and I can’t handle arrogance like that. The cupcake was double chocolate, and it was good. My husband got a lemon cookie, and he didn’t like it. It was dry & didn’t have much flavor. Also, there were around six cupcake flavors to choose from. I love supporting local businesses, but I won’t be back, mostly due to the owners«better than you» attitude.

Wildflower was too crowded for lunch so I decided to to have a cupcake instead — don’t judge me. It was difficult to decide as there so many different things to try. I decided on the Salted Caramel and it was fantastic! I love a cupcake with lots of frosting(I still think it was one of my happiest days finding out that Sprinkles has frosting shots.). This salted caramel had a lot of frosting but did not overwhelm the cupcake. The cupcake was surprisingly tinder and certainly moist. I actually ate the cupcake when I usually just eat the frosting. The owner was there and she is friendly, warm and certainly knows what she’s doing. She talked about the special ingredients of the cupcake, her shop. It’s nice to see an owner take such pride in her business. And you can see the kitchen and it was spotless! Skip the mass made flavorless desserts at Wildflower and instead, get a great dessert here.

CuPIEcakes? Yes! Was in the neighborhood for a meeting and saw that one of my bookmarked spots was close by– 21 Cakes. The shop is very nice and is across from the railroad park, on the far right side despite what your nav system might say. I took an order of their cupcake in a jar, an assortment of their cupcakes and macaroons, and two of their cupcake pie concoctions. First, the cupcake pie things– I henceforth name them cuPIEcakes!– are A-MAY-ZING! Perfect crust, just the right size, and the fruit gives a wonderful balance of sweetness. My wife and I had the apple and the cherry. Both were stellar and elicited many«ooooh“s and«aaahh“s. The traditional cupcakes were very good to my tastes. That said, my wife has named 21 Cakes her new fave for cupcakes based on their Vanilla Salted Carmel. They unseated Happy Cakes in Denver, which I never thought could be done! Macaroons were also yummy. However, they are expensive for what you get. My wife and little girl said they’ll just make those and to take any savings to put towards more cuPIEcakes and Salted Carmel cupcakes. :o)

Stopped in after eating lunch at Wildflower Bread Co. for a cupcake and cookie. My son got a cookie that was hard and I got a Samoa cupcake. The cupcake was cute, packaging was ok. Chocolate cake was decent but the frosting was way too sweet and tons of it. I would not go back here again.

They have done wonderful cakes for parties in the past! Today the completed a very complicated custom recipe cake sample for a big 50th birthday coming up… It was beautiful and amazing as expected. We love this place and recommend them highly! Just sampled the cake, a Reeces Peanut Butter Cup! It is fantastic! Ordering one to feed 100 now!

Review is for the cupcakes only. I stopped in at dusk for a post workout treat. The interior is beautiful and upscale décor. It kind of reminds me of a set from David Tuterra’s «My Fabulous Whatever Wedding». I took a gander at the available cupcakes. Pretty traditional flavors with a few that sounded amazing(Chocolate cupcake with Salted Caramel Frosting!). Because I’d heard a ton of «meh» in the reviews I decided to go with 2 staples. I figure you can tell a ton about quality by the way a cupcake shop does a standard Vanilla-vanilla or Chocolate-chocolate. The Vanilla-vanilla was really good. The cupcake itself was beautifully rich, real vanilla bean in the cake(such a rarity) and held together really well considering its size. Speaking of size, it’s almost like the cupcakes are overcompensating ;) They are easily twice the size of other cupcake shops. But, and I’m sorry to burst a bubble, size really doesn’t matter in cupcakes. I’ll take a delicious mini over a so-so giant any day. I digress. The frosting was vanilla in flavor and VERY sweet. Almost cloying. Just the cupcake was delicious, with the frosting it was overly sweet and my teeth actually started to hurt. I tried the Chocolate-chocolate the next day and, most unfortunately, was not impressed. I really wanted to like these cupcakes. They were so pretty and enormous. But, and I’m totally violating my own First Commandment in saying this(There’s no such thing as too much chocolate), but the chocolate was OVERPOWERING. All I could taste was very dark, bitter chocolate. The frosting was the same. Unless you have a gallon of milk handy these are just too much. Honestly, if you are going to charge this much for cupcakes they have to be spectacular. Kreative Kupcakes and Urban Cookies are so much better without the glitzy spectacle. Sorry Scottsdale, these just don’t make the grade.

Walked by after eating at Burger 21 and had to give it a try. Great display of cupcakes, but had only one flavor of macaroons — strawberry. Ended up buying some macaroons and a variety of cupcakes. They were fresh and moist with prices about on the average to high side but considering the location it was about right. Probably will come back but not easy to pick out from the street.
