We stopped in at the Old Town Tavern after our scavenger hunt in Tempe and Old Town Scottsdale. I have walked by this bar on countless occasions and never stopped in until last month. Great outdoor space, extensive drink list at reasonable prices and friendly service too.

I love this hidden spot. I love the patio facing the Scottsdale mall park. I sit here and it feels like I’m no longer in Arizona. Good happy hour prices too

I wish I could give this place 0 stars. One of the servers physically pushed my girlfriend out of her way. Called us rude ass customers when all we were doing is trying to get a drink. I’ve never seen an employee put their hands on a customer before. If I was the owner I would be very concerned with this girls behavior and what impact she has on his business. What a shame.

I’ve been here 6 times its been good and bad Sweet setup The Good side Nice view, scene & drink are always good The bad side is there’s always a crowd of loud obnoxious people not always but the last 2 visits weren’t great Had a run in with a individual in there who pushed me for no reason whatsoever All in all this place is on point with service, staff and beer

The Old Town Tavern is in the heart of old town Scottsdale and a perfect stop for any spring/summer day. I happened to swing by after a San Francisco Giants spring training game and the place was packed full of fans, vacationers and sun soaked locals. Downstairs the band was playing live jams which provided a great atmosphere for a Giant’s win against the San Diego Padres and everyone was in a great mood. There is a small table upstairs at the bar that overlooks the street and provides an epic birds eye view of the area. We were lucky as the table was open, and our beverages were nice and cold(I had one tequilla & soda with extra lime and it was nice and strong). It’s tough to actually critique the place because it’s a bit of a dive bar, so ambiance is the main reason I’m giving it 4 stars. Let’s be real here. It’s March, I’m in Scottsdale, it’s 85 degrees, the Giants just won, and it’s raining in San Francisco. Nothing at this point could put me in a bad mood. Just happy.

What can I say other than I love this bar! It’s very easy walking distance(too easy?} from my hotel(Hilton Garden Inn) but I would go here regardless. The staff is super friendly, the drinks are reasonably priced, the AC is cold on those super hot days but the doors are wide open on the nice days. They have«misters» on the patio to help on the hot, dry afternoons and evenings.

Super cute place that seems great for summer nights. The vibe is chill and you can seat yourself wherever you’d like. It’s great to have such a down to earth place in the heart of Scottsdale. I’ll be back.

I FINALLY stopped in this bar late afternoon on Parada Del Sol Saturday and really liked it. Honestly, other than the location, nothing really stands out about it. It’s right by the Civic Center part of Old Town so it seems to attract a different crowd than the bars a little further north(and that’s a good thing). It’s pretty small on the inside, but the patio is nice and there seems to be more seating outside. I honestly don’t remember anything that stood out about the alcohol selection, but a non-pretentious place to drink the basics isn’t bad at all. Like a lot of other people have mentioned, this place doesn’t serve food(solid form, anyway), but it’s close by to a large varieties of restaurants(from cheap to expensive) so I don’t think it’s all that big a deal.

Great location in one of the greatest parks in the world! It’s just steps to The Scottsdale Civic Center Mall and steps to the Heart of Old Town on Brown and Main Streets. Great selection of beers including lots of choices from Phoenix Ale Brewery. A ton of whisky and bourbons and some other great Top shelf spirits. Prices are good and very fair for this amazing location. NOFOOD and it almost cost them a star But heck they do every thing else right and there are a few other great options for excellent food near by. I would be tempted to bring a bag of corn chips and some salsa, or maybe some take out from Capriati’s, but I would check first. Service is always great!!! Super friendly with welcomes and goodbye’s every time!

Have you ever looked for a bar to have a drink and listen to music only to have some old fool throw a balled up wet napkin at your face? Well this is your kind of place if tgats what you like. And whats better is it was the owner or the manager. The place was packed so my wife and I found a place to stand off to the side. Having a good time talking with people I get hit right in the face with a wet ball of paper towel, I look up and this old goof is waving me away from where we were standing. I grabbed the wet towel and followed him off the property and returned the favor, he said he couldnt get my attention. Are you kidding, how about walk over to where we were and talk to me. I suggest going to any of the other bars in the area where the management acts like civilized humans in stead of poop slinging monkeys at the zoo.

Small lively place for some music and a drink. Highlights: — Fun spot to get your drink on — Had Deep Eddy vodka — Live music — Outdoor area out front with a few chairs and a bit upstairs Lowlights: — Super small inside the main area where the bar was playing. Loud and a bit challenging to get a drink as well as squeeze past the band for the restroom. Fun stop for a few drinks on a Saturday night in the area to hear some live tunes to get you into party mode.

The thing you need to pay attention to here is how they handle your credit that is required in order to run a tab. I allowed the waitress to make a copy of mine, but then decided to pay in cash. I could not find my server so I asked the doorman if I could leave payment with him. He accepted my cash, did not get a receipt. Then the amount of my bill showed up on my credit card. So if you decide to go there always pay as you are served and do not allow them your credit card as you may very well pay twice.

This place kinda sucks. No draught beer, music too loud for such a small place. No food! Kind of seedy for a Scottsdale bar.

First stop on a daytime bar hop thru old town. We arrived early, like at noon or whenever it was right when they were opening. At the early hour the other day drinkers seemed to be older regulars. The service was awesome and the selection surprisingly good for such a tiny little spot. It almost seemed like a nicer dive bar but the beer selection was good and the prices for cocktails were really low. If we weren’t trying to hit up a bunch of different places I would have been happy to hang here for a while. Even though it is technically in the main area you still have to look for the entrance because it is a little hidden out of the way.

If you’re a big fan of Moscow Mules like me, OTT makes a mean one! I love coming to OTT for a casual Friday night drink with friends. They have live music on weekends and their cozy rooftop patio makes a great celebration spot! They don’t serve food though so definitely eat beforehand! My friends threw me a surprise birthday celebration on the rooftop patio and they brought pizza & cake so that’s always an option!

This place is nice if you can find a seat. To a Midwesterner, this place is nothing special, normal bar with occasional live music. You can actually have conversation with ppl your there with. This place gets to stand out bc the area that it’s in doesn’t have many«regular bars» as there’s many clubs and trendy up scale lounges. I like the place, it’s just hard to find a seat during peek hours and the alternative of standing sucks bc you all ways feel you’re in someone’s way bc it’s such a small bar

Nothing but great times at this Tavern. This place seems tucked away which makes it all the more fun. Bar tenders were excellent and the music was fun and lively. Gave the band a big tip and they played a whole extra set so that fun could continue. Recommend for anyone who wants to drink, kickback and have fun. Did not try the food so no comment on food.

I used to love visiting this locals only place in Old Town in the early 2000’s when it was J Chews since well as long as I can remember. It was sold &(I think) sold again & is now Old Town Tavern. The set up is the same with some updates so it’s recognizable to a reg patron which is nice. The prices are a little more & the staff long, long gone but the vibe is the same chill. there are some younger kids running about these days because they’ve moved the live music to the patio & have more than a man & keyboard or lounge act which is also very cool. I hope they can keep afloat & are around for as many years as the old J Chew’s.

I was a bit confused as to what type of crowd this was… From the outside it looked super busy and younger crowd… well more dudes than girls. When you walk in you see a lot of older folks(or at least when we went– Friday night). I must say there were definitely A LOT of cougars and mother-like ladies… getting hit on by the younger guys. It was too funny and those cougars definitely love the attention. A good bar to chill and listen to live music. All their craft beers were in bottles, and of course you won’t see a big selection like SD, but it’s a good selection for the area. We thought it was cheap(we’re from SD, Cali) and usually pay like $ 7-$ 12 for a beer. As for the night we went, everybody and their mothers were out that night partying it up here

I’m torn. We went to see a favorite local band and it’s a fun place to listen to great tunes. BUT the owners were rude. The lack of food is bad enough(the website says you can order from Park Place but we were asked to walk over there to get food do they could save the styrofoam!) I guess if that’s how they feel, I won’t feel bad ordering a pizza next time we go to watch the band.

We were on a little anniversary get-away and saw this little bar on Unilocal as we were looking fora place with live music. It’s a really small place but they have outdoor seating as well as a patio upstairs. The place was packed but we were able to find a spot outside. There could be waitresses coming out to take your order — that would be my only complaint. Oh and the smoking outside all around us but we dealt with that. Overall we had fun!

A fun place for listening to live music. The tavern borders a nice square and they have inside and outdoor seating. They make nice drinks here and the service is very good. Lots of locals hang out here to listen to the good music.

Dirty, local drunks and heavy smoking. Nice enough staff but really kind of disappointing. Not a place that tourists would like.

Too bad, they have a great location in Old Town. Small patio, that is filled with smokers, small inside bar, but first you have to get past those smokers. Beers were warm, kept in a small fridge, constantly being opened. Live music inside, too loud for such a small space. Oh, BTW, did I mention the smoke?

I stop here all the time and never think to review it. Found my way here again. This is like that fave hole in the wall you can’t stop going to. Mainly locals because tourists cant figure out how to get in… Super busy bar and very capable bartenders(ESPBARB), Eat first, find a seat if you are lucky, and watch the magic happen. People will talk to you, it’s a FRIENDLY bar. Bring doggie, dip them illegally in the fountains outside, and come cool yourself off. And to sober up, walk around the park and get in the way of all the tourist photogs trying to get their pic alone in front of the statues and carriages. Now that is a fun day!!! Oh, and $ 3 beers, no problem here.

How have I *not* done a review for this place? How is that possible? This is my second favorite place in Old town. I get a lot of grief when I tell people that I live in Old Town(whatever…). But this is one of those places that helps void those«Old Town dwellers are all douchebag/skanky club goers». it’s not true!!! This is a tiny joint, yes it’s a joint, where you can roll in with your flip flops, t shirts, gym clothes, whatever. There is usually always live music and the service is prompt and the beers are cheap. Now they don’t always have food on board, sometimes they offer meatball sliders and such but they don’t mind if you order food in. The balcony has great views of the street below, they have a wrap around lower level patio where you can watch the tourists meander. In all this is a great little gem right smack in the heart of old town. Pay particular attention to the really old guy in the walker who ALWAYS gets up to dance with the live music. He’s absolutely incredibly adorable and makes me smile every time! EVeryone literally knows everyone here and I love it!

What can be better than sitting in an open air bar on a beautiful Spring afternoon, sipping on a freezing cold Moscow Mule while listening to live music? Answer: not much. I had a really great time at this bar. It was packed with Spring Training out of towners, locals both young and old and just all around good people. The vibe is super chill and down-to-earth. The bartenders are busy, but friendly. They always have live music here, but it’s never too loud to down out your conversation. I loved the Moscow Mule and the cool copper mug it comes in($ 15 if you don’t return it!), but the margarita on the rocks was not too good. Stick to what a dive is good at: beer and the occasional house cocktail. Will definitely return.
