Had a disappointing time here! Ordered the fish filet and famous Texas wiener. The fish filet was just a breaded fish patty in a bun. Literally something that a 5 year old could make. No lettuce, no sauces, nothing! It was tasty and piping hot but I expected more. The Texas wiener I thought was pretty tasty. Best hot dog ever? Nooooooo but still good and cheap. My biggest complaint though was the fact that it took over 30 minutes to get my food. I don’t understand what the hold up was and the waitress was kind enough to keep apologizing but in 30 minutes I could’ve gone to the store, bought the ingredients, and cooked this meal myself! Must have been an off day. Would return but have to give 2 stars for today’s experience.

Tried them today. The food is pretty cheap. I had a texas style coney and cheese fries for less than $ 5. The fries were nothing special. The coney had a nice flavor to it given the chili and onions. From that alone I’d probably have rated it three to four stars. I ordered take out so I had the opportunity to sit at the counter and observe the staff. Eww. The cook stacked the hot dogs up his bare arm in order to put the buns on them. He had what looked like a rash on his other arm. That’s gross. Who knows if this is done elsewhere but I should not be seeing that. Second, some lady came into the place and talked to the cashier. The old man walked away and they started saying a lot of negative things about him, in front of me. The woman that came in, was not in any type of uniform but hopped up at some point and started working the fries. She didn’t have on gloves and had not washed her hands. They need to work on being sanitary and keeping it professional. If you don’t have an aversion to microbes, then this may be your place.

Food was ok and price reflects the quality. this is not a very sanitary place with all the staff touching your food with no gloves. i counted the grill cook, the bus boy helper and the waitress all fingering the same hotdog i ordered. just goto walmart buy canned chilli and make it home. its all mushy crap anyways.

The Texas weiner was delicious and you can’t beat the value. The inside is clean, the service is fast and friendly, and it’s just good. So good.

Five stars for the hot dog. Five stars for the fries with gravy. Five stars for the friendly service. Five stars for the retro setting. This is not a five star restaurant, though. No jacket required. Little counter/diner joint about a block from Steamtown. Hot dog is served split, with onions chili and mustard on horizontally sliced roll. Very different but very good. Fries had options for chili gravy and cheese. Loaded dog and loaded fries … Under $ 6. Check in Unilocal and save 10%, only 60 cents so I put in the tip. Also had birch beer instead of root beer. Nice touch.

Best hot dogs ever… came to this place out of the blue on vacation and was pleasantly surprised. It’s pretty much a diner but with really good food. I had a hotdog and couldn’t understand how it could be so good but then I saw they have a plaque that they won for third best hot dog in America(I believe it, it was sooo good, although I noticed food overall in Scranton was excellent). the staff is super nice and welcoming as soon as you walk in the door and even though I’m not a fan of diners, this was great.

We have an apartment in downtown scranton and this place is usually a quick lunch for us once every couple of weeks. Nice staff. I like the hotdogs with all the toppings. I wish the guy making these hot dogs believed in wearing gloves.

My girlfriend and I stopped in here for a quick bite on our way through Scranton. I ordered a standard burger and she got a tuna sandwich – and I have to say, it was one of the worst meals I have ever paid for in my life. The burger was tasteless, save for the shock of raw onions and mustard; the tuna sandwich was basically straight out of a can, slapped onto white bread. The two of us are usually big supporters of local places like this, but Coney Island Lunch was comically bad.

From the Steamtown site, you can take a pedestrian bridge over the rail yards to the shopping mall, then it’s a short stroll to Coney Island Lunch. Best chili dog I ever had, I was sorry I didn’t order two!

Great Place! Went there for the first time in a long time. Where just about everybody does their dogs and burgers on traditional buns this place has their own(custom made???) from National Bakery down the street. Fries are some of the best I’ve had in a long time, I also had a Texas Weiner and Burger and both were very, very good. Straight up simple good and cheap!

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a few years. It isn’t much more than I divey diner, specializing in basic hotdogs. It was exactly what I expected, no more no less. Quick service.

Classic Texas wiener joint with a few other options. Texas wiener and cheese fries were great. Kids and wife tried chicken fritters and fish sandwich; all good. Good soda selection. Burger had a meatloaf nature, but was delish smothered in chili sauce, cheese, onion, and mustard. Nothing fancy but hits the spot.

We had lunch in here today and I always enjoy the experience. It’s like stepping back in time and let’s face it, it’s an indulgence. I had the wieners with it all 2 each and the fries, look it is what it is — good old fashioned comfort food. The service is good, it’s clean and if you pay attention you get some local info or insights.

I am a huge fan. After seeing the Unilocal reviews, I told myself I had to go. The menu is pretty straight forward and simple but solid. The Texas weiner standard is chili and cheese. You can also order it however else you want like catsup and onions only for example. However, the best thing about this place are their cheese fries! No seriously, these things are awesome. It’s a big basket of fries with cheese sauce on top. It reminded me exactly of Boardwalk Fries which was an old little food court staple in Southern California malls. Man… did that take me back.

Made a detour cause I just had to try this place. It’s much larger inside than I thought. Plenty of booth tables. I sat at the counter and ordered 2 hot dogs with mustard and chili. The hot dog flavor was mild. The chili sauce was good. So were the buns. Overall, no flavor flamboyance here, just good.

Service was extremely fast and friendly. Above all, this diner serves the best hot dogs hands down! The Texas wiener I had was seasoned perfectly. In all honesty, I don’t think I’ve ever tasted a hot dog as good as the one I had here. Besides that, the diner is furnished really well with baseball memorabilia.
