Best pizza EVER!!! Unique, affordable and delicious. I lived in PA, NC and FL. I still haven’t found any pizzas that comes close to Maroni’s.

While visiting the area with friends we heard about Old Forge style pizza. It’s square and is similar to Sicilian just not quite as thick. Doing a Unilocal search we landed at the highly rated Maroni’s which is in a residential neighborhood in Scranton. There would be no other reason to be around here unless this was your destination or visiting your grandmothers house. We were greeted by Carmine who has had the shop for 34 years and he gave a very detailed explanation of the Old Forge style pizza, they also have traditional round. We opted at his suggestion for a square pie half cheese and half of what they call Maroni’s experience which is a combination of different cheese and sauce of course and a more traditional round pie. Wow is about the only way to explain Maroni’s experience! The crust was outstanding and cooked all the way through with outstanding sauce and a mixture of cheeses that just explode your tastebuds when it enters your mouth! The cheese in spots turns crispy on top from the baking and the rich taste of crated Parmesan and or Pecorino Romano really sets it off. The round traditional pie was excellent but if your able to get to Maroni’s it’s the Old Forge style Maroni’s experience that is a must! While we were there in the family style older looking pizza shop we couldn’t help but notice customers coming in and picking up 4 and 5 pies at a time. We can’t wait to be back in this area to hit Maroni’s again!

Best pizza in Scranton. I looked on Unilocal for suggestions on where to eat and came across this gem. We are from New Jersey so the pizza was different but great. Looking forward to coming back to Scranton so I can eat here again. owners were very nice. Thanks again for my slice of pizza

It’s difficult to believe that anybody could review Maroni’s and not give it a five-star review, because it’s the best pizza in the world, probably including Italy and definitely Old Forge. I know, I know, it’s a subjective thing, but this is the pizza I was raised on. I’ve been eating it for 45 years and I never get tired of it and never will. My personal favorite is the standard square tray. If you like more cheese, ask for it, but personally I find the straight-up regular tray fantastic: dough, sauce, and cheese.(Naturally you can order any of the usual toppings if you fancy them.) If you ever find yourself in the neighborhood(West Side, bottom of St. Ann’s St.) then you’re missing out by not stopping in or picking one up to go. Prices are beyond reasonable and the place has not changed since I can remember, and that’s for the best. An easy five stars. Best pizza in the world.

Although the pizza is great, the service is terrible and makes it not worth going to. The cashier is unfriendly. Also they are never honest with their wait times. For example, tonight I ordered and she said it would be 45 minutes. One hour and 15 minutes later it was ready. I am sure it is only a way to keep the person from canceling their order. I don’t recommend this place

Do yourself a favor and do not waste your money! Every time I order a tray with extra cheese it seems like they do not put extra cheese on it but they sure as hell charge me for extra cheese! It’s never juicy always dry the lack of quality shows in the final product the cardboard box has more juice!

A NEPA staple for years, one of the best pizzas around. Been going here since I was a kid, and hit it up anytime I come back to the area.

My favorite pizza place in Scranton. Moving to the Mid-Valley area has made it more of a pain to get Maroni’s, but now only having it a couple of times a year, it makes it that much better!

In a time when family owned businesses are not lasting and going under, this one stands tall. The pizza that comes from this place is amazing and always has been. I lived in West Side my while life and getting Maronis pizza is such a treat. Sometimes on the weekend’s(Fri night — Sun) it takes a while to get your food but that’s because they are very busy. If you are not from the area and are looking for a good take out pizza you can never go wrong here. It is well worth the money and the drive to pick it up because they do not deliver. Recommended highly.

My cousin went to visit some friends down near Scranton and he picked up 4 pizzas to bring back to Honesdale. He grabbed a plain cheese, a sausage, a pepperoni and a mushroom. When me and my brother got back from Dickson City, the pizza was out on the counter. I heated up a few slices in the oven and was pretty impressed. For the most part, this pizza is «Old Forge Style» pizza. Its square in shape, cooked in a cookie sheet type pan, almost like a Sicilian style, and they use a blend of cheeses instead of just straight up mozzarella. Some people refer to this as a «grandma pie». Whatever you want to call it, it was damn delicious! My favorite was the sausage! If I lived in the Scranton area, I could definitely see myself coming back often. Totally different than a typical round pizza that people are used to, but still a great style of pizza that you have to try before you die! It was good stuff!

Driving down St. Anns, you almost miss it. It’s located in a small little house-type building — speakeasy style. The owners are every friendly, and we got into a discussion with them about the pizza they make. He told us the secret… the cheese«doesn’t have a drop of mozzarella in it!» This pizza is a bit different than most pizzas, but has an amazing flavor produced by their specialty cheeses and the amazing way it combines with the sauce. The pepperoni is a thicker style than average, and is applied liberally. Maroni’s is now our go-to pizza parlor in Scranton — a welcome, homey place.

There is no comparison between Maroni’s and other pizza places. Maroni’s is THEBEST, hands down Whenever I visit Philadelphia, I bring a few«trays» of parbaked and no one can get over the taste and quality!

I’ve never tasted a pizza like Maroni’s. It is by far my favorite I’ve ever tried. The square and round are both to die for, mainly because the cheese melts right into the sauce and is cooked to perfection. I also love the workers, and I’m there often enough that they love me too! The service is great, just be ready for a long wait on Friday and Saturday nights, since it’s definitely the best pizza around.

I liked this infamous local west side pizza but I hate to say it… I like others a lot better. The crust was awesome but I wish I had gotten more cheese. I’ll try it again sometime with extra cheese since it was pretty good… Just not my style. If you like more of a saucy pizza, give it a shot for sure.
