No better place to spend an afternoon than Harrigans. Great beer selection including many local and broader NJ breweries. If it’s your first trip you should try their famous Ruben with a side of homeade Cole slaw… A hearty meal… I usually skip dinner if I have had lunch in Harrigans. Great atmosphere, good place to watch a game or just relax and converse… Open rectangular bar has a real Irish neighbourly feel to it. Prices are very reasonable… You can’t go wrong.

I have been to Harrigans on several occasions & although I LOVE the atmosphere the food is pretty typical ‘pub’ food. They do have a few good draft beers, which is excellent & our waitress for dinner tonight, Kara, was excellent. Delightful as a matter of fact. I had the Dubliner which was basically a roast beef sandwich. Not bad, but pub food. I woulf love to give them a 3.5 if I had that option but alas I do not. I will continue to go here because it’s a cool place, but don’t expect gourmet food.

I’ve been going to Harrigans for years but the last few have been better as they have upped the craft beer selection considerably. Too often you go to alleged beer-centric bars where the wait staff have no clue about beer. Oft times you ask them about a beer and they tell you it’s dark or it’s light; but guess what, color has very little to do with flavor. I digress but this did not happen tonight. Kara our waitress had an educated opinion on a few beers I asked her about. She obviously has some experience in actually tasting what Harrigans pours. She is an excellent server. I had an Arrogant Bastard and a Six Point Bengali IPA she recommended. Both fresh and good tasting. They have tap takeovers occasionally and beer specials on Thursdays. Harrigan’s has pub food but they also have some decent dinners with the emphasis on Irish fare. Tonight I had a Roscommon Combo which was pastrami, turkey, russian dressing, with coleslaw on rye, which was good but would have been better if the rye bread were a little fresher. I’ve had it in the past and it was excellent. I’ve had fish entrees in the past and they were very good. Not a big place but has a very nice atmosphere with low ceilings with wood wainscoting and ceilings as well. It makes for a warm dining experience. The bar is oval and not too large so if you intend getting a seat at it, get there early as it is always crowded.

Just came back from Harrigan’s for dinner. Prime rib was loaded with stringy like rubber bands and the chicken pot pie was burnt on top and filling was pasty/dry. This was one of our top spots ! What happened? ??

Great spot for good Irish fare with a good beer selection. Service is always on point. Good price points and a great happy hour line up for drinks and food specials. Place can get crowded but it’s always a respectable turn out. The quintessential fish and chips Irish dish and the crab cake sandwich were our choices last go around with no complaints. My wife loves the steak fries that they serve with just about everything.

The waitress Theresa was extremely patient with us, a group of 11 people. Knowledgeable of beers and menu items we had questions about. Appetizers drinks and food all came out rapidly. The place has a personality to boot. The owner even came up to us and talked for awhile. If your traveling by or a local, u need to try this place out. 11⁄10 would come again

A group of friends and I came here for lunch after a charity walk we did. We called ahead of time to see if they would accommodate, the lady who answered the phone was actually pretty rude to my friend and seemed like they didn’t want the business. We went anyways because it was the closest place to where we were. When we went to the hostess she greeted us «do you see! It is a small place!» Mind you there were at least 6 empty tables and the bar had tons of spots. They split our group in two which we were actually okay with. Since it was a large group we wanted to make it quick for them. Once we knew our drink order we wanted to put in our food order as well. What was that for, when I told the waitress that we wanted to put our food order in as well she gave me such an attitude. To our surprise, the food was actually pretty good, everyone enjoyed what they ordered and considering we had a large group our food came out in a good amount of time. Service was not the greatest here but the food here is pretty good tho. Would I come back, absolutely not.

If you have read any of my past reviews, you could maybe figure out that I love brunch and bloody Mary. When I came here it was no different. After a LONG night at Leggit’s I needed my fix and was fully satisfied after coming here. At 2pm it was a little empty so my party of four grabbed a seat at the bar and ordered drinks right away. My bloody Mary was delicious!!! Perfectly made with lots of horseradish, black pepper, celery, and olive juice. Along with that I ordered the Jersey burger which is topped with Taylor Ham and cheese. I opted to add a fried egg on top and it rocked my world. It could also be that I was very hungover, but still it was glorious. The other ordered the sizzlin’ steak with onion crisps and fries which was also cooked very well. Too bad I live in North Jersey, or else I would be coming here every weekend!

For over 20 years We’ve made a ritual of stopping in for lunch at harrigans after a morning at the beach in spring lake. Outstanding food, tons of charm, great people… they really do ‘it’ right in every way. Will not be disappointed.

The sizzling steak and a beer flight($ 6 on Thursdays!) will make your week much better. Great wait staff, great bartenders(quickly attentive) and the food is fresh and good portions. It’s a laid back beach pub that you can wear flip flops to while eating a great meal at a good price. Worth it.

Just had a 11:2 inch veal chop Marsala for lunch w salad for $ 11. It was fantastic! That may be unusual but a filet mignon for that price at lunch isn’t. The food here ALWAYS is! A great neighbourhood place with craft beers lots of smiles and excellent food.

A few pints of Guinness at the bar and the sizzling steak while talking to people you don’t know. Heaven. Enough said. Only downside — before 7pm, it’s a much older crowd. Much more interesting, in my opinion. And the sizzling steak tastes just as good no matter the age of the person next to you. Listen closely… you might hear something amazing.

I wish I could give this establishment 0 stars. I suppose my boyfriend and I are too«alternative» for this place. Yet, we live 2 blocks away. Walked in the bar and immediately received dirty looks from the other patrons because we were not dressed in Easter pastel colored polo shirts. We ordered 2 beers and were completely ignored afterwards. Horrible place. Do not come here unless you are wearing a mint green Lacoste polo shirt and have zero tattoos(not counting a Celtic knot). If you make under 100k a year, somehow everyone knows.

Harridans is consistently the best food in the area. I love their flounder francaise or piccata. It can be loud but. We like the quiet corner behind the bar

To me it’s ordinary Irish Pub. The sizzling steak dish, a specialty of there’s is above average. My boyfriend had the Reuben sizzler and he just said it’s ok, too much butter. The Manhattan Clam chowder is really good. Sat at the bar both times and my only complaint is it’s so busy on a Friday or Saturday night that it’s annoying having people order drinks next to while your trying to eat. The service is friendly and good.

Let me first say that I am a huge fan of supporting local business in the Jersey Shore area and I am extremely disappointed with my short-lived experience at Harrigan’s. By short-lived, I mean that I didn’t even get to try the food or the Harpoon UFO pumpkin ale that I was planning on ordering once I sat down… Because we decided to leave once we were skipped for being seated TWICE! My boyfriend and I have never been to Harrigans have heard great things about the place, so we were very excited to go and have a nice dinner. We walked in about 7pm on a Wednesday night and it was surprisingly packed so we were even more excited to see what all the fuss was about. It looked like there was a little bit of a wait and we were starving but it was OK because it didn’t look like there was a long wait list. So a few tables get up and the only party that was waiting before us was sat. We thought ok great, were next! Then, some older man(might have been the owner) grabbed the couple that walked in AFTER us, winked at them and gave them a table! Mind you, they don’t take reservations. So my boyfriend was pissed and told me we were skipped twice, and I thought it was some kind of mistake. They didn’t have reservations because once again, they don’t take reservations or call aheads. And the same thing with another couple happened a minute later… pulled the couple and winked… We were standing for about atleast 25 minutes to a half hour tops. And they were there just about 10 minutes… I mean I get that you want to be good to your regulars… But when you’re skipping new customers you won’t ever get them back… First impression is everything! As I know there will not be many reviews saying bad, I regret that I couldn’t be one to give a five star being as this restaurant is right down the road from our house and we were likely to be returning customers. My suggestion to the owner… In the khaki shorts and white polo shirt with nice hair… Is to stop winking at very thankful regulars when you have possible fresh ones that may turn into regulars. And if not, then at least get a nice bench for us to sit at while we repeatedly get skipped. Rude. Never going back.

Great staff, great bartenders. Owner should fix happy hour signs on bar to say excluding weekends. It says(except holidays) = pretty annoying when you come in on Saturday or Sunday. Why annoy your customers? Why put your bartenders in an awkward position?

Harrigans is the type of place that you want to eat at the bar, talk to strangers and watch a game or a band on a Saturday night. 16 beers on tap and they rotate local and seasonal beer. Best Bloody Mary around ! Great spot and a great owner.

NODESSERT; GIVEMETHECHECK… Thank you… goodby. Inasmuch as I wanted to give Harrigan’s Pub 3 or 4 stars, in the end, I could not. After a great day at the beach in Belmar, we headed out for dinner. Hungry, with visions of either Spikes in Pt. Pleasant, or, Klein’s in Belmar, we opted to give Harrigan’s Pub a try instead, as we’re always open for new dining experiences. The exterior of Harrigan’s seemed appealing as well as the aroma of broiled steak as we exited the car. Anticipations for a great dinner soon ended after we were seated and our drinks and food were served. Regulars filled the bar area and a somewhat«old money» crowd began being seated in the dining areas. Our drink orders were filled quickly. Interestingly, they tasted a bit«off» which was odd considering the importance the bar plays at Harrigan’s. Bread and butter were then brought to our table which brings me to this next segment of the review. I’m a bread and butter guy, before dinner. We know of many restaurants where their bread basket is an important part of the meal. This was not one of them. The bread was beyond tasteless. The size of the«loaf» was inconsistent with the pub. Not wanting to dwell on the bread, my score card was already bearing negatives. My wife ordered the blue cheese burger, minimal garnishing at best; flounder stuffed with crab meat for me. The presentation was acceptable. However, the veggies were undercooked. Knowing that I would not return, I elected not to have my dish sent back to the kitchen. I asked for tartar sauce. A good quantity was provided, yet I had to use my fork to transfer it onto my flounder as no spoon was furnished to do this. Small oversights like this annoy me to no end as I am reluctant to wave over our server for every little thing. For reference, Harrigan’s website has their food and drink looking very appealing. Do not be fooled; their fare does not come out of the kitchen like the photos. Frankly, I believe there is much more potential for Harrigan’s to be a destination Pub restaurant, yet they need to see how we serve it up in a Pub /Steak & Seafood restaurant in northern NJ to get it right! Next time: Spikes, Klein’s, or even Avenue for sure!
