Great meat market! Good BBQ next store, get the BBQ meats only the sides need some work.

Dave I am giving you a «5» for the meat market as i have been a long time customer and everything is tops. BUT you really need to step it up on the eat in BBQ side. Seriously, you have amazing meat products but you need the whole package. Your sides are terrible and i realize you have a small kitchen and probably not the staff or time to prepare top notch sides but i really think you could do better. You are such a great business in our community i just wish i could eat in house and bring my family and recommend our friends. I do recommend your meat market products and i will continue to be a loyal customer i just hope for more from the BBQ. With your meat products and your knowledge of BBQ it could be great with improvement to your side dishes. The beans seem to come straight from a can with some sauce and meat added and the potato salad seems store bought. Other sides are not much better but you make a mean piece of Texas Toast. Loyal customer who hopes for more.

This has now become my favorite place to eat. I’ve never had anything bad here. I now go in and trust Miss Crystal and Miss Macy to choose something different everyday. It’s even more enjoyable since management got rid of the old counter help after Christmas. I recommend this place to everyone I know now. Also the meat market is hands down the best place to buy fresh cut meat. Everyone is unbelievably helpful and there is rarely a wait because Mr Dave keeps it well staffed at all times.

Unknown how this place rates so highly – friend and I ate lunch there last Friday, each had two meat plate so got to try four different meats. Sliced brisket was dry, pulled pork even more dry, sausage was like rubber – literally the worst either of us had ever eaten. The spare ribs, however, were the only bright spot – they were done just right and moist. Sides were unremarkable, and we both swore that the beans were straight out of a can with a piece or two of rubber sausage tossed in, tiny little beans. Maybe we caught it on a bad day, but BBQ is ubiquitous in Texas and shouldn’t be that inconsistent. There are literally hundreds of BBQ opportunities around here, I won’t be going back to this one.

Live down the street. Locals seem to love this place for some reason beyond me, foods gross. We’ve tried several items from the meat market and can’t recommend any of it. I mean how do you screw up bacon? Brisket is always dry and taste like fake smoke. Beef sandwiches are just as nasty. The pickles are good though.

Dave’s Smokehouse and Meat Market is almost a hole-in-the-wall Bar-B-Q joint. In spite of that, it’s a nice place. The employee that took my order was a little brisk, understandable as they were busy at the time, but still not an appealing quality. The food was delivered hot though and the experience was excellent. The Food: I had the sliced beef sandwich with pickles and onions, which honesty could have used another couple of slices of beef. The bread to meat ratio was just a little off. The beef had a great flavor though and was very nicely smoked. The BBQ sauce was sweet and tangy and almost literally the icing on the cake. The onion rings were unique and had a good flavor, however they were overcooked and too crunchy. The Verdict: I’ll definitely return to Dave’s in the future. There is still so much here that I wasn’t able to try on this visit.

This place is part of Bay Area Meat Market. If you want you can go in the meat market, choose your steak and they’ll take it to the kitchen. They have good steaks and a pulled pork sandwich to die for. They and T-Bone Tom’s have the best chicken fried steaks in the Clear Lake Area. I can’t remember getting BBQ here(other than the pork sandwich) so I don’t know about that but since all the meat is good. .. Our local BBQ place it Tony’s. The ambiance is country cookhouse. It’s sort of dark and seems dingy. You«dine» on picnic tables. The walls are covered with an eclectic collection of old time memorabilia. Don’t miss the Thompson Sub-Machine Gun, but you wouldn’t have caught Al Capon eating here. If you’re looking for Hemingway’s «Clean, Well-Lighted Place» you may not want to come here. If I were rating the ambiance I’d give it two stars. They do a big BBQ take-out business. My guess is it’s because people love the food but don’t want to eat here. We eat here about once a month, sometimes more often. ___ We’ve Eaten Out Every Meal for more than 25 years

Great little shop. I got the Friday pork rib special: $ 5.99 for two to three ribs with two sides. Can’t beat that! The ribs weren’t overly seasoned, but were well done and juicy. Turnaround time from order to eating was less than four minutes.

*Note: Dave’s is closed on Sundays and Mondays! You know your bbq is going to be high quality when the joint is connected to a meat market. Dave’s is our go-to bbq place. I love their pulled pork and chopped brisket. Their smoked chicken and turkey is also delicious. You can get a 2-, 3– or never-ending meat plate(dine in only for this option!). Their pecan cobbler is da bomb. They usually have a crazy good special posted at the door. Most recently it was a chicken plate with 2 sides for 5.99. Can’t go wrong! They shut down the friers and grills about 30 mins before closing, so make sure you get there before that to get some delish fried okra.

Went here while in Houston. Had a great Texan BBQ dinner. It has it’s own butcher where you can pick out your own steak for them to cook or you can take it home. We tried the brisket and pulled pork. Both were delicious. The meat was super tender and the flavor was great. Cool atmosphere and great staff. More than helpful when we perused the meat market. Next time we’re back in Houston we’ll be back.

BEST Chicken Fried Steak ever!!! The meat is sent over directly from the meat market next door and cooked to order. BBQ sandwiches are full of delicious tender brisket and to die for BBQ sauce. Ribs are juicy and meaty. Loaded Baked potato with pulled pork is amazing, as well as their Baked Potato Salad. Staff said BBQ sauce is GLUTENFREE, but you may want to ask again. We’ve never been disappointed. Just wish they were opened on Sundays and Mondays(my days off)!!!

This is the best kept Barbecue secret in the Bay Area. They don’t advertise too much(you won’t find coupons), but across the meats(ribs, brisket, chicken, sausage) there isn’t better. Sides are above par across the board. It’s an old fashioned, order at the counter place with picnic tables in the small dining room(no tips needed, just bus your own tray). You can also get meat by the pound to go. I can’t comment on the burgers, why would you order one when the sliced and chopped BBQ sandwiches are so good? They’ve only been open 25 years, so I’m guessing they ain’t leaving anytime soon. Don’t come here, it might get too crowded! **update, while this is the best BBQ in the Bay Area, I’m moving down to 4 stars based upon its competition. While I go here as much as I can, it can’t be compared to the elite places in Houston. Also, tried the pulled pork and it was average, and sometimes the bread is a little non-fresh. Anyway, solid 4 stars, come by here if you’re in the area for a great lunch at a great local BBQ place. **

Ribs here are smoky, meaty. Brisket is moist. Sausage is above average. Greenbeans are probably from frozen, but prepared well with a little bacon, nice seasoning. Portions generous for the price. Counter service, plastic plates and glasses, plastic flatware comes out of an odd dispensing machine with a handle. Traditional Texas Barbeque«Farm Junk» décor on the walls. Seating at one long common table down the middle or at picnic tables on sides. Many awards and trophy’s from local BBQ competitions hung on the walls — and in the men’s room. Rest rooms a bit on the grotty side. Dave’s Smokehouse is connected to the adjoining Bay Area Meat Market & Deli. You can buy something raw out of their meat-case and Dave’s will cook it to order for a buck.(Which is an excellent deal) and they do a good(but not superb) job with the steaks and chops. I have come here a couple times a month for many years. Service is usually pretty quick. Sauce is a little too sweet for me; they sometimes forget when I tell them to hold the sauce.
