I got takeout from here today, and I gotta say, this was one of my favorite barbecue places. The moist brisket was excellent. The two BBQ sauces they offer are original and«sissy» with the latter meaning not spicy. But the original is not much spicier to be honest. The only downside to this place was that they said each order was good for one person, but a half pound of meat didn’t feel like enough for one person, so order more than you think you can eat I guess. Will definitely be coming back again soon!

Rudy’s is one of my favorite BBQ spots in Houston. It’s definitely a better alternative to Pappas BBQ in my opinion! As, everyone stated before, it has more of a butcher BBQ spot feel than typical serve on plate or(to-go)container! The customer service is also top notch when entering the building. I’ve always got«Welcome to Rudy’s» with a big smile when I entered, and the classic«Thank-You» as I exited the building! The lines are almost always out the door during peak lunch and dinner times, so If you’re the impatient type, it’s best you don’t come during those times(11a-1p)(6p-8p). All the meats(PAUSE) I’ve tried have been on point. I usually always order both baby back ribs and pork ribs with moist brisket on the side. Ribs always been tender with good flavor. I haven’t tried any side, but the peach cobbler is great! Another big plus for me is that certain Rudy’s sell my favorite popsicle, THEBOMBSTICK! Don’t act like yall dont remember the bombstick, the ice cream with the chocolate on top, banana in the middle, then chocolate on bottom! But it’s so hard to find bombsticks in the store nowadays unless I hit a good hood convenience store, but even those are hit or miss! Anyway, go give Rudy’s a try you won’t be disappointed!

I was stopping by to get dinner in the hot and humid Houston weather, even though the line was super long and I got a little impatient, but my cashier Samantha made my to-go experience ended wonderfully. She was fun, experienced, and have great customer service, I felt like I was served by an old friend through all the jokes and laughter. The food is wonderful, and the workers are even better! If you’re her manager and you’re reading this, I’m vouching for her to be employee of the year!

Rudy’s is not vegetarian-friendly(d’uh) but I’m still giving it 4 stars for what I had. A good ol’ baked potato which I stuffed with their good ol’ cream of corn and voila… a heavy vegetarian-friendly meal. I also had to myself a thing of their coleslaw. Overall, if you’re having meat-eating guests over and they want to experience some Texan BBQ, Rudy’s is a good place to start. Their sides are very good and enough to fill this veg-head. And what’s better than slabbing Bbq sauce all over anything and everything?

I like Rudy’s! First time in, tried the brisket(lean & moist), the ribs, the chicken, and my wife and daughter had the pulled pork sandwich. All the meats were on point! Good flavor, perfect amount of smoke. The sides were pretty damn good too, especially the potato salad and cream corn. This place is a solid BBQ joint for people who don’t have the time or patience to wait in line for 2 hours.

Passing through Houston and hoped to get some great BBQ. Researched and headed to Rudy’s with the wife and kids. As we pulled up she yelled«you’re taking me to a gas station??!» Assured her it would be good and it sure was. Meats were all excellent, and the sides even better!(really like the cream corn) Make sure you also get the buttermilk pie for dessert — it was awesome!

Whenever I’m craving good BBQ I always think to try Killen’s, but I’m put off by the long lines people talk about. I then just default to good olé Rudy’s. For a local chain, Rudy’s is great! I’ve tried a majority of the meats here, but I particularly like the moist brisket, pork ribs, and sausage. Sometimes when I’m feeling like a baller, I’ll have half a pound of prime rib as well(not always available). I’ll admit, I’m sure it’s not the best BBQ in town, but it’s a solid establishment and definitely satisfies my craving. The condiment bar is nice, too — Unlimited jalapenos peppers and onion! It’s like any BBQ place you’ll find — benches, self seating, wax paper as plates, unlimited homemade BBQ sauce and sometimes a bar of condiments. One thing I do like is that it’s clean here and that there’s a sink right out in the open(for the germ freaks like me who feel the need to wash their hands and hate going into public restrooms). The service is also really good. The staff is polite and there is a server that usually makes rounds on busier days to make sure you have everything you need. Don’t be afraid to ask for more bread… Unlimited! If you’re looking for a solid BBQ place in town(and live at the far corners of Houston), definitely give Rudy’s a try. I’ll eventually go to the spot everyone is raving about, but until then Rudy’s is my go to spot. Perhaps I’ll update my review afterwards.

Not sure what the fuss is about. Was excited to try some Texas BBQ and a friend who is a local recommended Rudy’s as the best ‘authentic and messy’ Texas BBQ. Stopped by after a trip to Kemah(~20 minutes driving). As a first-timer, I was so confused on how to even eat at this restaurant so let me explain that first before going into the food. line up and when you get the cashier, they get your order ready right then and there. They put the food on a paper in a crate. They’ll ask you if you want bread and if you say yes, they will take way too many slices of white bread out of a bag that you can buy at a typical grocery store. Pay and take the crate to the sauce station to get peppers, silverware, napkins and whatnot. Take the crate to an open table and remove the paper from the crate. My friends and I were eating from the crate until we realized everyone had taken the paper out! When you are done eating, you have to clean up your own food. put your trash in the crate to carry it to the trash can by the restrooms and then put the crate in the stack. The BBQ was a huge disappointment. Although the sides were better, meat should be the star of the show here. I tried: BBQ: ***Baby back ribs — I love baby back ribs and was so disappointed when the meat did not slide off the bone. The seasoning was overpowered by black pepper. ***Pulled pork — I’ve had better in NY. not very juicy ***BBQ sauce — they had 2 types of bottles lining their store to sell so I thought this would be a superstar sauce but it was quite bland and neither tasted that great and there was no spicy sauce Sides ***Green green chile stew — this side was the savior of the meal. its heartiness filled me up as nothing else could ***Cole slaw — decent ***Baked beans — average ***Bread was sliced white bread out of a bag?! All in all, I would not come here again or recommend it to any going to Texas. I’ve been to better BBQ restaurants in NY and DFW.

I have to say this location was amazing. This is a franchised location. Located south of Houston. Went to take my friends from California to have some Rudy’s BBQ. It was an amazing expiriance for all of us. The food was just as good as the original rudys in San Antonio. Jalapeño sausage was amazing. Cream corn was so good. Bake potato was mouth heaven. Brisket yummmm!!! 1 star for facilities 1 star for food 1 star for service 1 star for clean bathrooms. 1 star overall experience 5 star rating.

We just stopped for a to-go order. The lean biscuit was still very moist. The turkey was a bit in the dry side, but with good smoke flavor. And the chicken(which we never had ordered before) was phenomenal! If you’ve been to Rudy’s, you know the sides are the standard fare with the exception of the creamed corn. And Rudy’s sauce is more pepper than sweet– just the way we like it. We’re fans.

I’m not going to lie I was a tad disappointed with THIS specific Rudy’s. I love Rudy’s. Whenever anyone from out of state visits me I always take them to Rudy’s to get a taste of that delicious Texas bbq. But up until recently I had only ever gone to the Rudy’s in Austin — which I have even given 5 stars. So when I had the chance to go to the one in Webster a couple weeks ago I was definitely excited for some great bbq. What I got was not bad — but it definitely wasn’t as great as the Rudy’s bbq I’m used to. My favorite part ended up being the creamed corn which definitely says something. I don’t know if it’s because it was busy on July 4th or what, but the meat was just not as great. The jalepeno sausage was almost dry, and the moist brisket just didn’t melt in my mouth. I so badly wanted to love the BBQ but I know what awesome Rudy’s tastes like and this just wasn’t it. I’ve rated this 3 stars because it’s definitely better than your average bbq. But if I plan on going back to Rudy’s it’ll be the one in Austin.

Good food. Pay by weight, $ 26 for myself but had plenty to eat. Pulled pork was excellent, baby back ribs good, sausage ok. Sauce good. Potato salad and coleslaw average. Good, clean atmosphere. Recommend, but expect higher then normal price. Gas price ok :)

Another first for this gal! After I kept hearing so many good things about Rudy’s I took the drive! Looks like a gas station at first, but once you walk in it’s picnic tables and even a little convenience area for quick pick ups, and to pay for gas too! The counter service was super nice and I told them it was my first time! They offered samples of the meat and I was flabbergasted! I mean what a smart idea, let me taste what you’re cooking so I am happy with my choice! And man oh man, the turkey was the bomb, the chopped beef with spicy sauce was good, sweet and spicy and the brisket was moist and tender! Cream corn I heard so much about so I had to try as well. Which is a good, sweet and creamy corn dish! I can see what all the fuss is about! Can’t wait to go back!

Not all Rudy’s are created equal. This one just outside of Houston did a great job at delivering great service, consistently good BBQ and tremendous flavor. When headed toward Houston on the interstate, this location is an easy on-off along the frontage road and can get slammed during lunch. The crowds reflect flavor. Regardless which meats you purchase, there’s no laggers here. However, the turkey remains my go-to item. Juicy, tender and packed with flavor, I could eat a pound of this stuff, but the spicy brisket and pork aren’t far behind. Personally, I can’t go through the line here without grabbing a small green chili. It’s stellar if you like a little spice. We’re also a fan of the pudding. Both the chocolate and banana pudding are a solid compliment to the BBQ. Either way, this Rudy’s is a great place for lunch or dinner whether you’re a local, longtime customer or first timer driving by on a cross country trip. Oh, and don’t be afraid to try the Sissy Sauce!

This place was YUMMY! After a day in NASA, we were looking for an authentic Texas BBQ place to have our last meal before leaving Houston. Texted a few friends and was heading to a place that was recommended when we passed by this place. Since we’re so hungry and it had good Unilocal ratings, we decided to eat here instead. It was a the right move! The meat here is just delicious. Tri tip, ribs, even the turkey, was good. The sauce was OK(yeah sorry I’ve had better in Houston). But it was some fine BBQ! Yeah, no plates. But really, I don’t know of any good to great BBQ places in Texas that uses plates.
