Worst BBQ I’ve had in the area. Ribs were tough and green beans had very little flavor.

We went there last night because Floyd’s had a 45 minute wait. Once we ordered and got half the order, it took 10 minutes to pay. They must have had a new cashier, but no one bothered to help her even though customers were stacking up. I ordered the baby back ribs, which were dry and tough. Certainly not what I expected from the Pappas family. I usually go to Rudy’s or Goode Co. and now know why I will not be going back to Pappas BBQ. For the $ 40 I spent, we would have been better off going to Hooters.

As far as Bbq and the price you pay for at this place there is a lot better Bbq out there… I was not happy with my blackened char brisket grease infested sandwich… I should have known this was not going to be the best visit when I asked the guy behind the counter what kind of potato salad they had… you know like the whiteish kind or the kind with mustard, there are quite a few versions of potato salad out there… he responds with I don’t know, I can’t list all the ingredients… well that’s awesome bc I didn’t really ask what was in the potato salad… won’t be going back there anytime soon.

Thanks y’all! Nothing like finding a long ass hair in my shredded cheese that I was about to put on my potato to completely kill my appetite. WASTEDMONEY. never coming back.

This is my ALLTIME favorite!!! The only place with BEEF ribs that I can find. Everything smoked to perfection. The sides are to die for coleslaw macaroni salad, sweet potatoes… The barbecue sauce is the bomb! The servings are huge… That baked potatoes are huge and delicious with chop beef… The smoked turkey salad is amazing and all their salad dressings are homemade… Even has a drive-through. I get here as often as I can. Do not miss out on the smoked brisket tamales!!!

This has got to be the worst BBQ out there. About 5 years ago we came to one and expected the same quality of food and it has definitely gone down :(the brisket was dry, the wings were just thrown in Tabasco sauce, the ice cream was milky, and the sausage was so greasy. We definitely won’t be coming back here.

I admit, this review is not for the actual BBQ as I do not like Pappas BBQ. So when a co-worker suggested going out to lunch, and then said let’s go to Pappas, I almost decided not to go. Then he mentioned that they actually have good salads, and I decided to try it. Boy, I’m glad I did! They have really, really good salads! BBQ would be maybe a 1 or 2 star, but the salad bumps it up to a definite solid 3 star! We got here about 11:20 and it really wasn’t busy, so we got right in. You get in line and order at the counter, and then when you get to the register and pay your food is ready. They have a condiments bar with pickles, and onions and all that, plus that’s where you pick up your silverware. They have a few different salads, nut I got the Special Chef Salad for $ 10.95; my co-worker got the Chef Salad for $ 9.95. The Special only has one meat(your choice of any sliced meat), and the Chef Salad has three meats, brisket, sausage and ham. Not sure why they charge more for one meat than three meats, but whatever. I wanted chicken so I got the Special Chef Salad, and man was it GOOD! And huge! Now, y’all know I’m cheap, and $ 10.95 is kinda high for a salad, but truthfully, this thing could feed two people. It came with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, cucumbers, onions, radishes, and lots and lots of sliced, smoked chicken. Seriously really delicious! I got honey mustard, but they have ranch, fat-free catalina, and a couple other dressings to choose from, and they give you a big tub of it on the side, which I like. The people are friendly, and the place is clean. I probably won’t come here often, but at least I know if someone wants to come here to eat, that I can get a delicious salad!

A friend was picking up from Pappa’s, I ordered a hamburger. What I got was a cheeseburger with double meat. How can anyone screw up a hamburger? If this place can’t get a hamburger right, I sure as hell can’t trust them with something more complex. No thanks.

I come here quite often as I love their sliced beef sandwiches and fries. Today, the fries were exceptionally good. They are thick cut which is easy to mess up and get soggy, but Pappas does a great job of cooking them. They are crisp on the outside, soft on the inside, and well seasoned. Not greasy at all. The sliced brisket is tender and has just the right amount of smoky flavor without being overpowering. I also like the smoky BBQ sauce. The manager and all the staff are friendly and the free soft serve ice cream is a good finish to the meal. This is my favorite place to come for BBQ.

Let’s see where to start don’t have much to say besides this being our usual go to location… I picked a chicken baked potatoe which you really can’t go wrong with a baked potatoe with all that yummy cheese, butter, and of course the must have chives. I normally don’t bother but I ended up ordering a tossed sadly and that’s what I had a problem with. The lettuce looked old and some pieces were wilted the tomatoes were overly ripe to where they looked gross to me and way to much onion. Let’s just say I won’t ever order the salad again. I wanted some ice cream but the machine looked questionable. Other than that we have never had an issue with the food flavor wise.

The breakfast tacos at this location are awful. Cold tortillas and watery eggs. However The downtown Houston location is awesome

Came here on Father’s day(dad’s choice) and was pleasantly surprised how friendly everyone was to our group. We all had sandwiches, which were huge, though I found the brisket to be a tad on the dry side. Great fixings bar with everything you need, except mustard. They brought some to our table when we asked for some, easy enough. It’s sort of hidden in a row of chain restaurants, so I didn’t even realize it was there, though I have drive by countless times.

We knew every restaurant in town will be criwded on father’s day except this place. 16 o us came and we ordered lots of rib plates. Baby back ribs was tendered but not tasty enough. The link sausage and the sliced beef were pretty dry. The bbq sauce was watery and bland. I was also not happy that they overcharged us $ 2 per plates. Talked to the manager on duty and she did refund us. The condiments counter was nice. Thumps up on the free ice ream cone…

Pretty much the worst barbecue that I have ever had. Do yourself a favor, stay home and do it yourself on the grill. As I find with most pappas restaurants they are very overpriced and extremely overrated. The barbecue sauce is terrible!!! Extremely watery and flavorless. I suggest that you bring your own barbecue sauce if you come here. The pulled pork was also flavorless. I also got a half chicken, which wasn’t what I expected for barbecue. When I eat anything barbecue I want it to fall off the bone, and the chicken and ribs were very tough. The mac and cheese was nothing impressive. This experience was very disappointing because I expected so much more from this restaurant. Try rays BBQ in third ward!

The brisket is good here. It’s delicately moist. That means it’s not greasy nor is it dry. It’s almost just right. It’s a little bland though. But good nonetheless. The ribs are not smoked enough for me. They are tender but again, a bit bland. Have they heard of seasoning? The sausage is standard. The potato salad is mustard based. Not a big fan of the mustard based but I’ve had some that I don’t mind eating. This potato salad had too many crunchy onions in it. Didn’t like it. I thought their BBQ sauce was really good though. It’s got a really nice smokey flavor to it. On the plus side, I like that they have a Drive-Thru. That always wins BIG points with me. Gotta love convenience.

Just ate here for the first time. Everything we had was descent, nothing was great. My chopped beef sandwich didn’t taste fresh, and had way too much bbq sauce. My friend got the house specialty plate so we tried several different meats, the only one we both agreed was good was ham. None of the sides were great. Overall good experience, just dont expect amazing food.

Pappas is doing a good job. While the BBQ has is not my favorite, it is still tender and has flavor. There are just other nearby BBQ establishments I prefer. Although, I do LOVE their side options. They are all tasty, you can’t go wrong with any of them.(The fries are AWESOME.) They also have my favorite BBQ baked potato which is definitely worth a try. They also provide free ice cream! It’s always creamy, not icy. Overall, Pappas is still great and may have been overshadowed lately. Don’t pass up on some Pappas!

I’m all about some good BBQ. Pappas, however, doesn’t do it for me. The food was decent, don’t get me wrong. There is nothing bad about the food. It’s just at the end of the day, it doesn’t stack up to the many other authentic Texas BBQ joints you can find in Houston! However, if you’re not a fanatic about BBQ and you’re just looking for a simple pulled pork sandwich, give it a go! That’s what I tried and it was a decently good sandwich. It’s counter service and most chain locations are pretty clean.
