I have to get my car smog for the first time. As a new local in seal beach, I gave this shop a try. And the reviews are definitely accurate. Look for Rex. He was very helpful and gave a good customer service. I was outta there in 30 minutes. They also send the report to DMV that your car had passed. I plan to take my car here for other repairs and definitely will recommend. Thanks 16^th Street!!! Keep up the good work.

Well I needed a water pump installed, I was quoted at $ 410, I didn’t have time to take it to my guy who would of done it for $ 275.Any way I said fine, next day they call me tell me my water hoses are bad, and I need a new thermostat. I ask how much They say $ 190,I say well you already have the hoses off and the thermostat is just two bolts, maybe $ 50 dollars in parts I pass. If you put new hoses on or my old one’s what’s the difference, So the following week I buy hoses and thermostat $ 52,I install, my old hoses were fine and the thermostat worked fine I tested it. They tried to hustle me, also when I received my bill it was $ 463 so much for $ 410.When I paid the bill a little old lady asked the attendant how much for a battery for her compact car? He told her $ 200,Very messed up, also they charged me for new clamps I did not need and the mechanic left one of my original compression clamps in the middle oh my heater hose which eventually would have pierced through it could have caused major damage, Intentional or mistake? either way I will never go back.

It’s not too often you find mechanics who put the car and the craft before the business. They had a bit of difficultly installing a headlight in my car. The way the headlight assembly was manufactured makes it incredibly difficult to install a replacement. I knew this going in, which is why I took it to someone else. They found a temporary solution so I could drive in the meantime, and charged me not a dime until I brought it back at my convenience to have the job done correctly. Great people here. Don’t think twice.

I have an ’88 Ford Econoline van I bought a while back that no mechanic (4+) has been able to get to run right. Finally, it started pissing gasoline on the exhaust pipe (yikes!), so I gave another mechanic a try. Enter 16^th at garage and Rex’s awesome team. They fixed it, but continued to tinker with it because they didn’t think it was running right either.
They got it.
I went from a van I could only drive a few blocks if they were flat to a full use palace of shag carpet and velour interiors.
Rex was really proactive in communicating with me throughout but, aside from being the only ones to actually fix the problem, the thing that I’m most impressed with was that they cared so much that it ran right. Like a lot. Nobody else did, but it was a big deal to them.

Rex and Ricardo were great.
Went in because my car was making a grinning noise and upon investigation I could see fluid under the water pump area. Took it in on Wednesday and it was done Thursday night. They fixed my water pump and thermostat housing.
The price was competitive and they wound up finishing it sooner and it was a little cheaper than quoted! Always good!
This is the second time I have taken my car here and have been super happy! It’s never fun fixing your car and it’s usually expensive, I appreciate their honesty and efficiency.

I’ve been coming to 16^th street for a couple of years now and feel compelled to give credit where credit is due… and honestly, this garage is by far the best in our area! These guys bring their A game-​Always honest, timely, and actually explain everything up front and always give accurate quotes. Rex is so friendly and personable. So happy I have a garage that I can take all my cars to… new and old:)

I got a nail in my tire and took my car to this place to get my tire patched… I’m SO glad I did! They took care of me right away and plugged the hole in my tire (which I didn’t even know you could do!) in less than 5 minutes. I was in and out of there so fast! Great customer service — super efficient and everyone who worked there was really nice. Very affordable too!
Such a pleasant experience compared to most other repair places or tire centers. I’ll definitely be bringing my car here for all my repair needs!

I haven’t actually been here but I want to express my gratitude for the guy that answered the phone. Having a 63 beetle I recall a business in this local area that specialized in VW’s. He was kind enough to give me that other business name.
.now, now, now… I am not trying to get this person in trouble. I am simply stating that such awesome customer service this business or him is well worth my time giving them a positive review.
Just think… his unselfishness when the business is not for them imagine what they can do for your vehicle. Pep boys charged me for shit I did not need after caught them on a lie (trying to charge me to replace something they had changed 4 months earlier) Its our policy sir. I will never use them again.

This is the place to go to get your car back in tip top shape. The gentlemen who work here are kind, efficient, and HONEST. They don’t make you pay for parts you don’t need and are straight up with you about what your car needs.
If you don’t live in Seal Beach, it is definitely worth the drive. They get very busy though, so make sure you call ahead.

I drive here from fountain valley (I moved) because they have such excellent customer service and they always help plug my tires when I get nails (all the time). Recaldo is so nice– they are awesome here!!!

Excellent customer service, both on the phone and upon arrival. I had a tire that needed to be plugged ASAP. As soon as I pulled up I was greeted/​attended to by one of their guys, Paul. I was out of there in about 5 minutes. Not too pricey either.

So not being well informed on the process about plugging a tire, I was just told that it was done incorrectly/​incomplete. Apparently the service tech didn’t remove the tire, sand patch the interior of the tire like he was supposed to. Bummed. I was in a rush and he picked up on that. He ship tent suggested which options were available — a quick plug or the proper way. Had I known I would waited. Feeling cheated about this an it’s a shame, especially after having been referred to these business.

I have been coming here for years! 16^th Street Garage is the type of local quality garage that doesn’t give you the run around and is honest in what they tell you! Rex has taken over the business from his father and the quality of work still runs strong! I will never go back to a dealership or big box automotive repair shop again! Raul, Sergio and the rest of the staff are wonderful! Keep up the good work!

I had my air coolant/​Freon done. The staff was very friendly and explained the processes of what needed to be done. The staff was professional and made me feel comfortable as a woman.

My high school buddy Rex runs this place. I’m a little bias but he is amazing! Prompt and has many customers that have been returning for years. Community oriented Garage. Rex is the man!

When a girl recommends a mechanic because they are HONEST… YOU KNOW THEY MUST BE GOOD. This shop can do anything! Rex, the owner has saved me thousands of dollars in repairs. He is honest and the prices are amazing. Vry accommodating and always willing to answer any questions w/​out the bull!!!
