Food isn’t bad, but $ 18.50 for a cheesesteak, which isn’t that big, an order of fries and a lemonade.

Quite possibly the worst place I have eaten since I can’t remember when. It’s the boardwalk I understand that but when you order mussels marinara it should not be pizza sauce and the muscles should at least have the sand removed. The eggplant parm had so many seeds and was so tough. literally the entire meal was left on the table uneaten. I’m not even going to get into the fried calamari I could have played tennis with that. All in all very bad experience. Live and learn I guess it’s pizza from now on

Awesome place to stop in for a pint. The BEST bartenders, they remember your preferences and make helpful suggestions. They try hard to stay on top of the latest microbrews. If you area beer snob, you MUST stop here. All that, and right on the boardwalk with a great ocean view! A must stop

Located right on the boardwalk, you can’t miss it with its huge beer mug sign, luring you to come in for a cold one. The most recent time we were here, we ordered the buffalo chicken wrap. It was average. You have to have separate tabs for the bar and the food, which is fine. Our servers were friendly and attentive. We stayed for a beer then it was time to move on. The times we have been here have been in the off season, so it’s never too crowded. Decent spot for some bar grub and a beer.

Wait staff very friendly just not very attentive. Asked for a side of ranch received a side of tarter sauce, asked for a Caesar wrap received a BLT wrap. Tap beer watered down as well. Over priced for the food and atmosphere.

The swirly pizza pie is delicious! I look forward to having it again next time I’m in Seaside.

OK, as looking at some of the other reviews I guess it’s good to go at night, in the dark. Let me just start by saying that the server was great and the sausage with peppers and onions was awesome, but it ends there. Now I know this joint ain’t fine dining, but come on, they drop dollar store paper plates on the table, and the napkins, well you need bout three or four to wipe your mouth off. I know this sounds picky and I understand that boardwalk food is ridiculously expensive, but we paid 50 bucks for a sausage with peppers and onions, a chicken Caesar salad and an anemic tomato and hard fresh mozzarella appetizer. The tomatoes in the appetizer we’re pink, now tomatoes are in season and fairly cheap in Jersey and there is no reason to have a disgusting hothouse tomato anywhere in the state on a plate. Like I said in the beginning of the post it’s probably better to go there at night because it hides dirt in the ceiling vents on the window sills and all the dead flies that we were sitting next to in the window. And probably several beers in would probably help also. I guess if we got drunk before we ate it wouldn’t have mattered. Like I said I don’t expect find China on the boardwalk but maybe a wax coated paper plate and a half way decent napkin even and for goodness sake clean up the dead flies come on people.

Stopped in Friday night with a friend, so this review is just about the nighttime scene. Small bar located right in the middle of the boardwalk. While I was there, they had a really good DJ and a packed dance floor. To describe this place, think half bar and half club. The prices for drinks were not outrageous either. What is really nice is finding a place to dance without paying a cover charge at the door. Because it was so small, it seemed a little crowded, but it was overall still fun. The bartenders served people at a decent pace. There were about three of them behind the bar serving that night. However, there were SOOOO many people trying to get drinks here, it might take awhile for them to get to you. So with that said, here’s my tip – do not start the night of drinking here. Go elsewhere then head over here for a cold beer and dance the night away.

I came here for the first time ever. It was Sunday at 3:30pm. The odd thing I noticed is that it was more busy at this time than it was when I left but that’s because of the football games. I read the sign to wait to be seated and then told to sit wherever I liked. I was with family so I ordered what they ordered which was a sandwich with sausage, onions and peppers with marinara sauce. Whatever the name, it was delicious. I guess this could be classified as a dive bar since it has a limited menu and soft drinks are served in plastic cups. Nonetheless, it was good boardwalk fare.

I really liked this place. Right on the boardwalk. Really friendly staff. The only thing I see as a negative is the plastic cutlery & dishes-I get it, it’s convenient and saves time and money. BUT if you’re gonna charge $ 10 for apps and $ 8 – 9 for a sandwich I could get anywhere else, some nice glass dishes.

A great bar for after work drinking. The crowd is usually local, and the bartender knows my boyfriend and I even though we’ve only been here a few times. Can get crowded. Marucas!

One of the better places to eat on the boardwalk. Prices are decent, too(better than Spicy Cantina — my other go-to). Given the other options a few blocks in each direction, I’d say this is a 3.5 star restaurant.

Don’t go here to watch the fights. They turned the prelims off during a great fight and would not put them back on «they just don’t show those here» Find somewhere else to go!!!

Another long staple in my life where JR’s has not moved in many years though a remodel some years ago removed the easy entrance to the bar that used to run the length of the wall front to back that allowed the best people watching in town. Alas no mas. :( Now with optional inside seating(Same food) JR’s has changed quite a bit. Just cheese steaks, and french fries and onion rings were had this past trip and Steaks were OK but not the rib eye that is expected. Rings and fries were awful and the seating area in the back especially right next to the swinging doors to the kitchen was hot and not very clean. Much better places on the boardwalk these days PASS!

We went here for beers, a way to start the evening at the jersey shore. The actual beers were fresh and well priced. The reason for the one star? They have one of those Internet jukeboxes that allow you to pick form an amazing array of songs and genres. Since we were in a reminiscent mood, we played songs from our youth — belly, ween and pavement, for example. All went well until the wu tang klan song came on. Interrupted by a bartender«miss, this is a family establishment» and he jumped back to the jukebox to UNPLUG the machine to get the song to stop playing. Beyond rude and totally unacceptable. We took our business elsewhere.

We went on a weekday. A weekday is a workday just like anywhere else. Construction was going on across the street, but the boards were coming to life for the summer. I always liked JR’s because of the convenience, with the ramps to the street and the open-air atmosphere. But yesterday, we noticed a few changes. The server removed our used plates, but also cleared our plastic-ware. The food was not up to par. The soda was undrinkable and tasted weird. My iced tea had a rotten lemon flavor. Our appetizer nachos were literally swimming in cheezy sauce. The olives were submerged in it. The dipping sauce for the mozzarella sticks was tasteless. While we were there, maintenance inside proceeded, including one incident where an exterminator walked by our table with a dripping can of pesticide. The smell of pesticide was in the air, until a server wiped it up barehanded with paper towels. It was quite nauseating with a stomach full of cheez wiz and ketchup salsa. We’ve been going there for 20 years, and we don’t think we are going back to JR’s.

This is the place for a good Jersey shore boardwalk, sit down dinner, before going out, or just coming off the beach. Any great thing you would want to eat at the shore is here and done right, and if it’s not they will make it right. The Long Island ice tea’s are the best any where on the boardwalk. 2 of those luscious babies and I am loving life.
