Maruca’s is, without a doubt, the best slice on the boardwalk in Seaside. Their tomato sauce base is flavorful(unlike most of the other places in the vicinity) and they swirl white cheddar cheese in an artful and delicious way. Even though they offer a whole bunch of toppings, I would suggest going with a plain slice as it does not need adornment. Maruca’s pizza is best in it’s original, unfettered form. Yes, it is worth a special trip!

Great place to eat. Had no problem with the service or the food. The pizza is really good and the slices are huge so it’s worth your five bucks. There is even live music!

We found this place since the Man V Food show. They now have move to bigger location and they still make great pizza. It is one of best I have tasted. I recommend anyone who is down by shore area to stop there. We go there at least once a year. They have some unique spiral design on their pizza pie which make them unique. They move to new location almost center of Seaside boardwalk next to the big JR sign. They have restaurant in the side, wait could be long so we buy at stand and sit outside. Still great pizza without paying tip for waiter/waitress.

My brother-in-law swears this is the best pizza in the world. GIANT pies, great sauce in a spiral pattern nice and cheesy. One slice is enough they are huge.

Really great pizza. Being from Nebraska, we had never had real pizza like this. The sauce is sweet and is acctually on top which the girlfriend loved.

Pizza is amazing! Better than any New York pizzas. It’s a very low key bar and casual attire.

The tomato pie was very good. The swirl of tomato and cheese was beautiful and full of flavor. The cheese steak was tasty, but we thought a little expensive. Overall everything we had was tasty and the service was very good. I bet it is a super fun place in the summer!

Okay, this is seriously the best pizza I have ever had in my life. I have driven«down the shore»(about an hour and a half drive) just to get their pizza. My husband says its their cheese blend. I always thought it was the sauce. We both agree that the crust is phenomenal. It has the perfect crisp to it but it’s still has a great chew. Absolutely delicious. If they reheat your slice(like if it didn’t just come out of the oven, although usually they constantly have new pizzas coming out) ask them to heat it extra to get it nice and hot, that’s how it’s best.

I’m from NY and am accustomed to REALLY good pizza. This is hands down my favorite. The crust is perfect. Thin and perfectly crisp. The sauce and cheese are delicious. The sausage, the only kind I ever get, is quality. Seriously worth the trip. I’m driving almost 2 hours out of my way on Monday to get a pie. It is that good.

The pizza was ok. Not as good as i thought it would be considering they fame themselves as the world famous. But it was not bad. A little pricey at 4.50 a slice. But i guess thats because of the location on the boardwalk. I woulf still rather just stay in toms river at some more local joints.

I don’t get it and I don’t understand the hype. It’s pretty disgusting pizza with cheddar cheese swirl? My 2 slices were very forgettable with below average taste and texture. New Jersey is full of better choices for pizza unless it’s past midnight and you’re stuck on the Seaside Boardwalk and you have had way too much to drink and are absolutely starving… I guess then it’s worth stopping here for a slice.

The best pizza! But we ordered a bar pie this time with onion and meatball. hey it was delicious but you know what? Just get plain– it does not get any better than that and the taste does not get lost by toppings. The service was excellent as always. We love the bar pies and honestly one can serve 2 people. But I do miss the giant slices after eating the bar pie too. We also had slices this year. One point is I wish Marucas was its own place and not shared though frankly Marucas has pretty much taken over the old JR‘s from what one can see. This is the must have pizza in Seaside.

Probably the best pizza I’ve tasted in NJ in the past 10 years. The sauce is tangy and flavorful, and the crust is crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. I was pleasantly surprised! We ordered one piece at the window, and after tasting it, sat down in the restaurant and ordered a whole pie. It was delicious! The staff was pleasant and one of the owners or managers was at the hostess stand and took time to introduce himself and learn a little about us. We really enjoyed the whole experience and will be back often!

Best. Pizza. On. The. Boardwalk. Enough said… if Unilocal would let me write a Review that short. They combine mozzarella and cheddar cheeses to make their giant slices perfection. Homemade sauce completes the slice. It’s also cool to see the twin brothers running the show!

Best pizza I ever ate in my life. I crave this pizza. We just ordered three pies! It has a very distinct taste that only they have the recipe for. Highly recommended

… I’m asking for a Philly cheese steak and the lady ask like she don’t even know what I’m talking about as if they don’t make them. I was about to apologize thinking it wasn’t on the menu. Service was bad and it looked like a few stale slices so we went elsewhere

Standard of NJ Pizza has always been Marucas. once located in Funtown area now fronting JR’s it is what in the past all Pizza has been up against. With their cheese on the bottom, sauce on the top concept… they have been doing it for years. Several visits over this past summer and it is still very good but it is NOT what was years ago. Personally I just think it lacks more sauce as it certainly has all the flavors we are looking for but not enough of that great sweet tomato taste in each bite. Price points for both slice of pizza even though its huge and fountain sodas are high but it even in its slightly diminished state is the BESTONTHEBOARDWALK in Seaside Heights.

I had 2 slices of the fresh mozzarella pie $ 5 each. They are very tasty, and larger than the average slice, but still, $ 5? That’s what happens when hunger strikes on the Boardwalk at Seaside Heights!

I have complicated feelings about Maruca’s, and I’m still sorting things out. So, you know how you go to the boardwalk, and you unload, like, $ 25 on completely rigged games to win your kid that Minion Bob plushie he wants so much? And, by the way, you’re weak and have terrible hand-eye coordination, and oh yeah, did I mention the games are RIGGED? So there’s no end in sight to the bloodletting and humiliation? Then, DINGDINGDING, Hello! You realize that you could have just BOUGHT the damn thing, along with Stuart and Dave, AND your kid wouldn’t be sobbing, in despair? Well, the Maruca’s experience is a little — but not exactly — like that. It definitely fits into the landscape. All of the food on the boardwalk is terribly overpriced, and Maruca’s is no exception. I can’t help but feel that«did I just pay nearly 30 bucks for a pizza?» sting every time we go there, especially with my bruised ego and weeping child. But at least we got some tomato pie for our trouble. And, Maruca’s makes a big one. Another nice thing about Maruca’s is that you can sit down and regroup after a day on the beach or boardwalk. Things are different now, post-Sandy, post-fire: they’ve got a little corner spot north of most of the rides, nestled in with JR’s bar(I think). I am relieved they’ve survived. And the staff is nice, patient. I have always been uncomfortable with the pizza shops that have their goods out for display — for who knows how long its been sitting(probably not that long, really), and Maruca’s employs this practice, too. But their spirally pies look so pretty, so tempting. Not that regular pizza ever looks BAD, mind you, but Maruca’s does have nice presentation. I speak tomato pie, after many years living within walking distance of DeLorenzo’s in Trenton(the Hamilton Ave location) and Papa’s(on Chambers). Maruca’s certainly represents — the huge pie holds up! We stopped in last Friday after a long day of crabbing, and my undignified performance at the boardwalk games, and ordered a few slices of plain tomato pie for the kids and one whole white pizza for the adults(my boyfriend has diverticulitis and can’t risk the tomatoes). My son, already distraught by his state of Boblessness(or Stuartlessness, I’m not sure), only ate a few bites of his(massive) slice, and deemed it «horrible.» He is a picky eater, for sure. But it’s further evidence, I suppose, that you should be fully versed in East Coast Pizza before taking the Tomato Pie course — it’s definitely a 200 level class — and, he wasn’t ready. I hated seeing that forsaken slice, though, so I tried a bite. Okay. A few bites. And, in his defense, that day’s pie seemed rushed. The sauce was immature — I believe it was straight, unseasoned, crushed tomatoes out of the can, uncooked, save for the few minutes in the pizza oven. The white pizza was definitely a pizza, with a bready crust, and was VERY good. I liked it WAY better than the tomato pie this time. Even though there was no tomato sauce on it, it was nicely seasoned, and had both mozzarella and ricotta on it – perfectly cooked, with bits of browned cheese(which I love). The crust — while not a tomato pie — was a perfect pizza crust with some lovely bubbles, and the ideal amount of chew and crunch. Maruca’s knows how to make you feel ok about that $ 30 pizza, which is why we’ll stop there every time we’re in Seaside.

Stopped here for a quick bite while spending the evening on the boardwalk. Three of us decided to order a fresh pie & eat at one of the tables outside. Pie was really good — wished they used fresh mushrooms rather than canned — but other than that, it was quite good!

YUMYUMYUM! I’ve been coming to the Jersey Shore(Lavallette) since I was a child and picked up pizza for the family tonight during our summer vacation. The pizza was GREAT(and I’m verrrrry picky when it comes to pizza). The staff was also very friendly and made it an all around enjoyable experience! The pies are HUGE and the perfect combo of cheese, sauce and a thinner crispy crust. Next time you want a great pizza in the Seaside area check out Marucas and MANGIA!!!

Always great pizza. I always go for the tomato pie. Located at JRs on sumner avenue since the hurricane and fire a few years ago decimated the former location in the funtown pier area. If you are having more than one slice recommend ordering the bar pie. Made fresh and has the same great taste

I worked at seaside 40 years ago whem marucas and macks were the best two pizza places on the boards.(i worked at macks so i was partial). Well the past few years, i have switched to 3 brothers. It is mush tastier. Unfortunately, i feel bad talking about them because i always had a loyalty to marucas but the pie last nite was atrocious. Poor quality cheese and the crust wasnt good. Is it cheaper ingredients or the pizza makers??? Im afraid that the reputation in my opinion is rapidly declining. I like the fact that one of the twin owners is always around but come on guys, bring back the good old pie.

Went here with a good friend of mine who insists this is the best pizza in the world. Bold claim, but I decided to trust in her word. I wasn’t disappointed in the slightest. The pizza is very good, the crust is thin but has a nice chew to it. The cheese sauce combination is on point; I was nervous there wouldn’t be enough sauce but that was not the case. The restaurant itself is great too. Quick service, friendly staff. They do more than pizza well, we had calamari and it was delicious. Lightly breaded and not grossly chewy. Do yourself a favor and go here.

This place isn’t closed. It rebuilt after the fire and is bigger and better than ever. Food hasn’t changed one bit though, and is still my absolute favorite pizza from anywhere. Before, the location was very small, and the bathroom always smelled like piss. I kind of miss it. They are significantly larger now, with more tables, wait staff, TVs, etc. I was almost disappointed, but nope — not a single thing changed about its food. I leave tomorrow for a move across the country, an I will truly miss this place.

Pizza slices are huge! The construction is good, very flavorful. A bit pricey for pizza, but in line with other boardwalk prices. We sat inside off-season, wait staff was friendly, though not the most attentive(and the place was empty).

Got their signature tomato pie. It’s visually appealing and when it’s fresh out of the oven it is the definition of a classic traditional pizza. I usually only eat 2 slices of pizza max, but i ate 3 here. and the slices are ginormous! if you’re down at the shore be sure to check this place out! i think most people complain cause they get slices that have been sitting out for a while. but when you get a fresh pie, you’ll be too busy chowing down to say anything.
