We dined here one night on the whim. Our server lacked a smile… ever. Im not dead certain she wanted to be there. The food was good, but way over-priced. They even charge you for the bread. I do like the open kitchen concept, but its not new, or groundbreaking. I will file this under the«hipster no matter how good i do service is not important» category. Likely won’t return, at these prices i can get a better experience at plenty of other places.

I wanted so badly to like this place, but from the moment we walked in until we left it was just«meh.» Drinks were good and the happy hour food and appetizers were okay(albeit insanely small, even for French standards) but it was the detached and almost sallow service that really turned me off the most. Like the servers weren’t really interested if we wanted to be there or not, and when we went to the effort to call them over, there was an unmistakable air if pretentiousness as though we were doing them a disservice. Look, I’ve lived in Europe and been to France several times. You’re not creating a French vibe of individualism, you’re creating an atmosphere of indifference. So no, I’m not coming back.

Had a great brunch outside. Sure 2 pancakes are $ 13 but they were perfect. We had a halibut tartine, essentially 2 open faced sandwiches and a perfect side salad. It was simple and perfectly executed. The house kombocha was great as well.

Not sure if I just came in on an off night, or if Bar Sajor has really fallen off since opening, but I was not impressed at all. Place was half empty, but still magically felt crowded. For lack of a better term, the bar felt dingy. Wanted to give them a chance so we asked for a menu despite our initial reservations. After a quick glance over the food and drink items, we removed our bottoms from the seats as quickly as possible. I was hoping for a memorable experience at a place in Pioneer Square and I suppose I got just what I asked for. Next time, I’ll be sure to clarify that I wanted a positive experience…

Service: host was nice to move us to a ground table per our request . Atmosphere: warm and French country décor, too bad the waitress took away from the experience. Waitress: only ok. Wasn’t rude, but wasn’t pleasant or friendly. Detached and didn’t seem to want to make Mothers Day brunch a special experience. I felt like I was an inconvenience. Didn’t refill our cups until we were almost done with our meal and leaving. Requested salt and pepper but never got it. Food: 1. Quiche –the best we’ve ever had, very creamy 2. Pancakes –sounds boring but it too was amazing, soft in the middle with a light crisp on the edges, unique flavor 3. Vegetable hash — disappointing. Some slightly raw and hard veggies, a few dollops of a white sauce, and an egg. 4. Sausage — nothing special.

Amazing dinner and wine menu! What a beautiful ambiance and area. We enjoyed the oysters and chicken. The service was impeccable and the wine recommendations were on point.

The pancakes. It’s beautiful inside, definitely has a take-your-time and eat kind of vibe. Great place to go and catch up with friends. :)

Bar Sajor is a beautiful restaurant. My eyes were wandering all around because of the Mediterranean inspired interior and their open kitchen and oven is stunning. Came here for brunch early at 10am on Saturday and it wasn’t too packed. We ordered couple of items on the menu including pancakes, quiche, and veggie hash. Quiche was slightly burnt but other than that, everything was good. I like the concept of open kitchens, it was a pleasure watching chefs at work. I’d come back to try their dessert trio. Looked delicious and many people seem to order this. Also, not the best coffee, but not the worst Americano I’ve had.

Absolutely incredible experience. One of my favorite places to grab spectacular small plates and fresh scratch drinks. Love love love!

I am only giving this restaurant more than one star because they were very good at smiling, albeit superficially. Yes we had two children with us… sorry, but sometimes kids have to eat too. Yes, we were aware this was not a kid-friendly restaurant even before we saw the looks of disapproval on the faces of the young, «we’re-hip-because-we-work-in-a-Matt-Dillon-establishment» employees. The restaurant itself is beautiful and well done. It’s drowned in sunlight and the décor is bright and welcoming. We were there during brunch hours and the menu options were pleasant. They even have kombucha on draft and that was incredible! The food itself was nothing to write home about. I did order bread for the kids at first and they demolished that in a heartbeat. Of course, because it’s bread. The cheeses were divine, the steak and eggs were perfect but the salad was over-salted.(I am only mentioning the food I myself consumed, but my party did order three other items, one of which were pancakes that never made it to the table until we were three-quarters finished with the rest of the food.) If the waitress had checked back with us sooner, it would not have taken them that long to rectify the situation. Maybe she would have also been in a better mood if this food had been delivered promptly, seeing as it was one of the kid’s orders. We all know a hungry child(or adult!) is not the happiest. Because the waitress did not check back even within eight minutes I had to get up and request a steak knife because it was difficult cutting my steak with a butter knife. I was finally able to eat my steak but it was cold because the presentation was a «pre-sliced» steak. Aesthetically, this restaurant was light and very inviting. The service was infrequent, and consistently artificial and rushed. And no, I will not ever be coming here again. Did I mention that our waitress was constantly touching her hair on the floor, including behind the bar, and right before she prepared the cheeses to bring to our table? And yes, I did leave our waitress a twenty percent gratuity despite the inadequate experience.

I wasn’t sure what to expect at Bar Sajor, but my dinner here was a lovely way to end my last night in Seattle. We arrived around 7pm and the restaurant was near empty due to the football game in progress at the nearby stadium. Our server was attentive in getting all of our drinks squared away. She also had the patience of a saint with me as I quibbled and fussed over what wine I wanted. I finally decided on an obscure Slovanian white that was to my liking. The four of us started with these items to whet our appetites: Greens & Roasted Squash — consisted primarily of kale. Likely one of the best salads I’ve had in recent memory. I adored the tamarind dressing that they constructed. The bitterness of the kale against the tamarind married wonderfully. I wish I could have bottled that dressing up because I could eat it with just about everything. Assortment of 3 Cheeses — This was average. I tried the blue cheese option on the plate. It was much too pungent for my liking. The other milder ones, like the brie, were more to my sensibilities. Leavened Bread — Very high quality bread served with a cultured butter. I really enjoyed this. For my entrée, I opted for the Pork Shoulder. It was served with a cauliflower purée that resembled and tasted similar to potatoes, in addition to a smattering of broccoli. The meat was flavorful, moist and an absolute delight to consume. The presentation was rather stunning as well. My other three dining companions all opted for the Pumpkin Dumplings. They all complained that the smaller dumplings tasted too dough-y. I tried bites of both the larger and smaller dumplings but couldn’t really tell the difference. I liked both of them and couldn’t find anything objectionable. Overall, I was very pleased with Bar Sajor. The menu is creative, unique and smart, and I enjoyed the parade of exotic flavors and textures that it afforded.

Ambiance = A. Food = A. Visually appealing and delicious appetizers and entrees. However, service was polite, yet distant. Our food server placed our order, but we never saw her again for the duration of the meal. Food was delivered by other staff, check delivered by yet another staff. And, I believe this restaurant is know for their desserts, yet we were the only table in our area that was not offered a dessert menu. The two in our party were visiting from out of town and we were looking for a nice restaurant in an otherwise economically mixed neighborhood. Glad we found this place. I certainly recommend this place for those looking for an eclectic menu, moderately priced, comfortable setting. It’s an upscale eatery in an otherwise marginal part of town.

Great service and quality ingredients. The actual flavor combinations are questionable, however. For example, the smoked yogurt, while one of my favorite dishes, did not pair that well with the peppered watermelon, which were both great on their own. The freshness did not cut well through the yogurt, which I believe was the idea. Maybe go for tomatoes instead? Something fresh and acidic, but not overpowering in sweetness. Also got the cheese tray and a side of the bread. Loved the sea salt flakes and the butter, but the cheeses were underwhelming. Also got oysters, which were unfortunately subpar compared to New York oysters that are served in some Dallas restaurants, though they were dressed well. Got a few additional items, including a semi sweet tart, but overall, nothing too impressive(I can’t even remember everything we got). Our cocktails were also not that great; definitely not strong to say the least. The tea, offered once we entered, however, was yummy. I loved that there was an open kitchen. It was nice to see all the passionate people hard at work.

Very good dessert, though imperfect. Americano not good, which I didn’t expect to find in Seattle. However, the server/bartender was excellent, and the décor in this and all the restaurants in this group was lovely. Maximum shabby chic.

I love this place. Open and airy with a very European vibe. They known for their wood-fire oven. I’ve been here and handful of times and the one issue is that sometimes you can find yourself paying upwards of $ 200, but still leaving… A little hungry. Now I am not a huge eater nor do I like to leave a restaurant feeling ‘stuffed’, but at Sajor you are certainly paying for the quality ingredients and not the portion sizes! That being said the menu is incredibly innovative, always changing and uses ingredients that always surprise and delight. For example, the carraway cured salmon came with a bread paste that added so much to the dish. The grey morels stuffed with tahini, grape leaves and ricotta was my favorite dish. Intense yet perfectly balanced flavors. The menu certainly leverages the gifts that the puget sound has to offer and I appreciate the chance to try so many new things(nettles) that are specific to not just the PNW, but the Puget Sound, in particular. Great wine list and attentive and knowledgeable service. I wish I had our waiter’s name from last night because he really did a wonderful job! Will be back again and again… just not when I’m famished ;)

Our friends who live in Seattle have been wanting to try this place– and since my husband and I were in town we thought it would be a great dinner as a group– and it definitely was! Had a 7:30 reservation on Saturday night and was seated right away when we arrived. The restaurant itself is beautiful inside: open kitchen that you can walk right past with young cooks preparing what smells like the most interesting dinner you are about to eat. Their menu changes often, and I recommended sharing since their portions are perfect for that. We had so much and honestly it was all so different and good. Def recommend the oysters, cheeses and jams, the roasted alliums and their flowers, the conica morels with king boletes, the halibut and the lamb. Wonderful service, great food and great company. What more do you need!

I love wine, I love tea, and I love good eats. Bar Sajor gave me all of that. I was seated early for my reservation, and was given a sample of their soothing housemade tea before I even had a chance to look at the menu. Chose the beets as the appetizer, which my fellow Unilocalers know by now is one of my favorite things in this world. Bar Sajor’s beets were outstanding, and uniquely served over pistachio crème with apples & watercress. So savory. For the entrees, we had the chicken and pork loin dishes. Let’s be clear, I’m not a pork fan, but theirs was pretty tasty. I very much preferred the chicken even though I’m not a fan of citrusy flavors and Bar Sajor serves their chicken with lime & argan oil… Uhhh, this was INCRED. I’m talking, OHMY GaWD gimme some more! Lastly, the dessert. I don’t even know what was served to us, but it was some perfectly-portioned delicate cake(looks like the cardamom cake from their site). I was ridiculously disciplined to not polish this one off! So the food is great, the service isn’t anything too extraordinary, but the dim-lit and open space is highly attractive. I’d be happy to return!

So this was a pretty good meal, more like a 3.5 rating. The ambiance was pretty good. We had a yogurt dish, crab, chicken, and dessert. The over roasted chicken had nice flavor. The crab had a good flavor but was kind of a small portion. The yogurt dish with pumpkin was really good. The dessert wasn’t too memorable.

My girlfriends and I happened upon Bar Sajor on a Thursday evening as we were looking for a place to wine and dine. Entering the restaurant, it felt like we were stepping onto a set from«Mamma Mia!» :) Absolutely beautiful interior with a palette of white and blue with great little details everywhere(keep an eye out for the cute alphabet blocks!) Our server was very accommodating when we mentioned that we were looking more for a light dinner/dishes that could be shared. For a party of three, we ordered: — The assorted charcuterie — I’m a noob when it comes to meats, so I had fun trying the different terrines and pates. :) — The naturally leavened bread — a great addition to the charcuterie board! — A dish with fire-roasted onions in a purée(unfortunately forgot to note the exact name, sorry!) — The purée is what caught my attention in this dish. Don’t forget to also check out their wine list! As my first Matt Dillon restaurant, I had a great experience venturing beyond my typical taste preferences. Although the price is a bit high for the portion sizes, I can see myself stopping by again.
