I went here for a show about two weeks ago and have very mixed feelings about the place. Overall, the show and crowd were both frickin’ awesome and I had a stellar night, but the club itself was just so-so. First, the good elements: The person at the front entrance had an amazing attitude and added to the good vibes. Most of the staff in the club were very nice and helpful. You could get free tap water in the bar area. The club had a pretty good sound system and there was a decent amount of space to dance. Now, to the bad: $ 4 for bottled water! Maybe if we were in a Vegas club, I wouldn’t be so surprised, but this is a dingy basement in Pioneer Square. If only I had known about the free tap water… The entry process for getting in to the club seemed a little disorganized and haphazard. I didn’t have a problem with the people working the door at all(they were nice), but they should probably coordinate logistics a little more effectively. Bathrooms were as gross as everyone says. The club got exremely hot which is to be expected, but man, I really wish they had blown cool air more than once during the show. I think I need to come here again to really determine a «true» rating for this place. I’d be interested to see if bigger acts/more popular nights get substantially worse or if they handle it in stride. I love some of the acts that come through this place so I’ll probably update soon. ALSO: free Unilocal deal! That’s cool…

Back when there weren’t that many clubs in Seattle, this place was pretty fun. Now hardly anyone goes here. It’s just not the same anymore and I honestly don’t feel safe in that part of the city. Most of the time it’s 21+ but they have edm Wednesdays and Sundays are 18+. They occasionally hold ‘after parties’ after big shows at wamu. It used to be free if you showed your wamu ticket, but they charge $ 20+ which was kind of disappointing. They have so much potential to make it great, I hope they get back on their feet again!

I was here for a New Year’s Eve party a few years back. I had a fun time — great music and dancing in a lively club scene. It was pretty crowded, so I recommend reserving a booth if only to have a place to sit.

Yep, yep and yep. I’d have to agree with the majority of bad review. For the amount of Asians you see come and go into this club, you’d expect it to be a little cleaner… I mean, damn. I wanted to use paper towels to pick up paper towels. Needless to say, I’ve only been here a handful of times and it’s been hot, nasty and smelly. Plus, the lines are long… and for no damn reason. I’m tellliinnnnnnnnggggg youuuuu. Lol.

I had a great time, but all the staff(minus the bar tenders) were extremely rude. All of my friends– even the ones I was not with the whole time and had different experiences than me– all agreed on this. I don’t plan on ever going back unless a dj I reeeeaallly want to see is playing. I made the mistake of thinking I could re-enter without a re-entry pass(ooops) and the only thing the guy at the door had to say was«not my fuckin problem». Wow.

If there were a Mt. Gangrenous Flesh-Eating Disease, Volume would be at the peak. I was absolutely not prepared to handle the amount of filth here. When I got home, I took an inordinately long shower to wash off the stank. I only came here to see friends who DJed at Volume that night. Of course. I can’t meet my friends at normal places like IHOP or the mall. Instead, I get to be VIP at joints where vodka-laced poo is overflowing out of the toilets and I may or may not discover maggots underneath ripped booth seats. Red flags were raised everywhere when I noticed more than one dude wearing silk shirts so shiny, I could see my own reflection in it. It made me want to vomit a little bit. Seriously, who let that shit fly? Also, no one dances. Volume exists solely as a small space to cram a horde of plastic, swollen-tittied, grey-eyed Asian girls taking group selfies. So if you’d like to witness the foundation on which Instagram thrives, go to Volume.

Quite crowded here. Scratch that. Overly crowded here. When you can walk into a place and smell the odor and sweat of everyone in there, there’s a problem. Even standing in the VIP area which I always go to, you can smell it. Seems like every time someone bumps into me, they feel like they just came out of the shower. Drinks are priced a little high up there. You would figure for a place so cramped that they would compensate a little by reducing their drink prices.

I’ve been here a few times(scratch that) several times now and goodness… It gets worse each time. First of all, it’s understandable that they only have seats available for«VIP» since they are paying extra but seriously? I have been to other nightclubs/bars and they have«normal» guest seating. Second, the drinks are ridiculously priced but hey, what can I expect right? $ 11 for a vodka/red-bull… The place itself is really small but I will give it credit for having EDM nights and bringing in Bryan Kearney which I went because my boyfriend totally loved him at EDC and had to go. Another thing, I like the free admission until 11PM and the constant Unilocal free check-in. Who would want to pay on top of the already expensive-everything else? yea… the place itself is quite a small venue. Claustrophobically small. You can smell people and their body odor… it’s bad. I even had people bumped into me with their sweaty bodies last time I was here… it was gross.

Too expensive for what it is. If you’re 18… it will be fun. Sound is sub standard. C and sometimes B list DJs. M/F ratio = 70⁄30. If you’re 21, don’t waste your time here, go to Foundation instead, you’ll appreciate me saying that later. They always have cheesy themed events that don’t really kick off. A lot of Asians. When they have an MC, he is lame and won’t shut up. In my experiences, they let people that are 30+(creepy dudes) get in when they are desperate late at night to sell more tickets. This club has potential… but lately, it seems like they’re going down the drain. Best 18+ club is all it has going for it right now. Only because it’s pretty much the only18+ club that is medium to large in size in Seattle.

I’ll preface this by saying we went on an off-night. It was snowing outside but my friends and I had already committed to the idea of going out, so we did. And maybe it’s because there weren’t very many people at the venue that I was able to see all the — flaws — but they were obvious and I’m not in a rush to go back. The«booth» seating was pretty bad, with broken chairs, flat cushions, and stains. The two bars that were open were completely inconsistent — one serving what seemed like 99.9% juice to the other pouring so much alcohol that the drinks were almost unpalatable. And at $ 10/drink, I excepted better. If the furniture and bars were any indication to the state of the rest of the establishment, I should have known better than to go into the bathroom, but I did. BIGMISTAKE. But when nature calls, you answer. Three of the stalls were broken and then one that was working was unflushed and disgusting; not to mention the floor was gross. I don’t know how this place stays in business, but I guess when you’re packed and everyone is drunk, no one notices… or no one cares. My mistake was going in there, with only 40 people, and *mostly* sober. Bad idea all around.

Volume is kind of nice on the inside, but that’s about it. –The sound isn’t great(which should be a requirement for dance clubs) –Sausage fest 90% of the time –The staff are assholes I’ve been to volume several times, but after Wednesday night I will NOT be returning there. Last week I left my ID in my coat which I left at Monkey Loft(LOVE that place btw) and the bouncer at Volume wouldn’t accept my DOCID. I showed it to him carefully, explaining in layman’s terms that an Identification card issued by the Washington State Department of Corrections ISINFACT A STATEID. I then went to the manager and explained what happened and he said«Sorry, I can’t let you in with that.» Volume is the only bar or club that has refused me service with my DOCID. I can’t believe I used to be friends with such a pig(the manager of Volume, before he was the manager but still) Save yourself some grief and go to a different club.

This is solely based on Sin Sundays. Sundays makes me not want to even try to come in any other night. What’s different about that night? It’s 18+ night, and 21+ gets free cover charge meaning there’s more immature kids running around and broke people coming in. Nothing wrong with that, but when is it ever ok to act in such savage manner. It’s literally a meat market out there, you cannot get from one side of the room to another without feeling uncomfortably invaded. My girls continuously kept getting harassed by guys to a point where they had to snap off and tell them next the next time that they try to touch them inappropriately, they will get punch. Yes it’s a club, girls are going to get hit on, but it’s not ok to treat us like animals, we are nowhere even close dressed like strippers. I’m being generous by giving Volume 2 stars instead of 1 because I assume it is not their intention to attract such a ratchet crowd, but hey I’m sure Sunday nights are harder to get people in since most people go back to work or school on Mondays so it’s better for them to get ratchet people in than no people at all. My friends & I actually made a new slang within our crowd, instead of saying that’s so «ghetto» or «ratchet», we say that’s so «volume»! Hahaha.

«Don’t expect much, Seattle nightlife is nothing compared to New York.» So were the wise words of my friend whose apartment I was staying at. He’s a transplant from Massachusetts as well, so I took his advice… half seriously. A mutual friend of ours was spinning here, so the five of us drove out here on a Saturday night to support his gig. We got in free, but the bouncers do a very thorough pat down of males, but not females. Hrm. Floor was full of Asians that night. Mostly Koreans. Drunk, sweaty, on-the-brink-of-blackout Koreans. There was this one guy who kept trying to get my attention and at one point became aggressive when I kept ignoring him and my friend had to step in. And then of course, my girlfriend and I discovered a girl passed out in one of the bathroom stalls. Literally face planted onto the ground. We notified management immediately, but that was something. One good thing about this place is that they don’t really reinforce dress codes, like most clubs in New York do. I sailed in wearing an Express sweater and Uggs(it was a last minute thing, I didn’t have time to plan) and no one said anything.

PROS: + Free if you’re on guest list before 11PM, though I wasn’t, but lucky for you if you remember to do this! Cover is $ 10, which I didn’t think is too bad. + I felt like all the bouncers, recruiters, bartenders and the lady collecting covers were SUPER nice. I am not used to club staff being nice at clubs. + I like the House music in the main room and Hip Hop in the smaller room. We bounced back and forth and enjoyed ourselves in both. + Our bartender was awesome! Free shots! + Comprehensive pat-down prior to entering. I didn’t mind because it made me feel safer once inside, but dang, homegirl, should work for the TSA! + It was the most diverse nightspot I’ve been to in Seattle! Typically in the cities I’ve lived in, including Seattle, the nightlife is a bit segregated. Volume had people from all walks of life which was quite cool. CONS: + I didn’t really feel safe coming to Pioneer’s Square, but at the same time, I was kind of okay with it after awhile since it reminded me of my college clubbing days. I think I just got used to my North Seattle bubble and forgot my Los Angeleno roots. + MAJORMAJOR sausage fest. Man, those bouncers seriously need to do some guest control. There was one guy who was MAJORLY eye-facking my friends in really the most blatant way I’ve ever seen. It was ridiculously creepy. + Slippery floors! I nearly ate it like 4 times on the main floor! I know people tend to spill drinks at a club, but man, when ice is involved, someone needs to get on that quick. + The drinks average around $ 9 which is expensive for Seattle. + If you’re approaching your 30’s like I am, you may feel kind of old-farty here. It’s definitely a younger, recently-21 type crowd. Would I come back? Actually, I would. I did have fun. But will I actually come back? Ahh, not sure if I will any time soon. The hubbins wasn’t too keen on going to Pioneer Square. Maybe if some out of town friends want to go there again I wouldn’t be opposed.

Still one of my favorite dance clubs in Seattle that is consistently good! This is probably one of the few clubs that actually open from Wednesdays to Sundays. Also on Sundays, it always admits 18+ for a cover fee and free for 21+. It is best to arrive at around or shortly after 10:30pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Make sure to always get on the guest-list before 11pm so you can go in for free.

3.5 stars. The place has a cool look to it. Tron-ish lights on the ceiling. Decent drinks and bar service. The DJ was alright but I didn’t find myself convinced enough to dance to the music that was playing. And no, that doesn’t have to do with how much alcohol is in me, haha. Getting in was interesting. I signed up on Volume’s website for the guestlist but apparently my name wasn’t on the list! We walked out… but on our way out, thanks to Homing(spelling?), we were able to get in with no hassle! He was a class-act to us. Yay for that! He told us, next time go to their Facebook page or to text him. Okay then! Will we be back? I’m not sure… perhaps if there was something more lively going on and if the booths were free for all… We’ll see!
