Popped by Beba’s Deli & Dos Amigos a few weeks ago for a quick lunch en route to WeWork for some coworking I needed to get done – I wasn’t originally planning to stop here, but the prospect of chicken quesadillas and tortilla chips overruled any desire I had for over-priced paninis at a local café. I’m not sure if it was just the time I arrived, but the place was basically empty. I walked up and placed my order, and was rewarded with a meal that was freshly made and came out piping hot. Actually, I ate most of it before I made it the three blocks down the road to WeWork. My only complaint is that they didn’t have salsa, and the pico de gallo I agreed to in substitute was watery and soaked my quesadilla before I had the chance to enjoy it. What place doesn’t have salsa? I don’t know if I’ll stop by again – it’s not a place I normally visit, but I enjoyed it for a quick affordable lunch on this end of SLU.

The quality of their food does not align with their prices. In addition, it’s anyone’s guess what they’ll actually have available on any given day. They have a nice menu, but it’s common for many listed items to not be available. I tried to order a burger today«sorry, no burgers». Okay, I respond, could I have the pesto linguini«we are out of pesto». So I look at the menu again… How about a gyro«We will have more gyros tomorrow». Well, at least I saved $ 5 by walking down the street to Mad Pizza today, so I guess that was the best part of my experience!

Tried their different dishes. Not great ones. People are nice. If you want to fill your stomach(and not worry too much about your tongue, you can go here.) The salad was no good and was small in size. I would give 1.5*

This place stinks. I hate saying that because the people who work there are so nice! But there was dirt on my sandwich this week. Enough said.

I visited Beba’s for the first time the other day for lunch. I got a carne asada burrito with guacamole instead of sour cream. I went in with low expectations and walked away pleasantly surprised at the quality. I’ll have to remember to go here instead of Taco del Mar.

Just went to Bebas near REI for lunch and ordered a burrito combo meal. I received a burrito and tea-spoon of beans and a tea-spoon of rice. Seriously, a little bigger than 4US denomination quarters of each. When I asked the waiter if this was a typical serving he stated that if «you don’t like it you don’t have to come back, its up to you»… I won’t be going back.

Whenever I have a mid-morning business meeting at Vivace, I bring my clients here for a quick meal. The café is family owned and they take great pride in preparing a reasonably priced and delicious meal.

Great service, everyone seems to be smiling and friendly. However, as previously mentioned by other patrons of this establishment the quality of ingredients is simply not there. I ordered a chicken quesadilla the first time and had a stomach ache within an hour, not sure what that was. The second time I thought I’d go with a safe option and order tortilla soup(how can you screw that up?) and it tasted like a salt lick that you might give a horse. I think I am probably done trying Beba’s…

Gave it another try because Mad Pizza was packed. It’s just horrible. Nothing personal. Just not a fan. It stays open because your other choices are Pizza and The over priced Lunch Box Labratory. I wish people would just bring their lunches to work for a couple of months so somthing new would open up in Beba’s space.

Been to Beba’s at this location and elsewhere in the city and they are all pretty good, but this is the first time I have had the Dos Amigos side of the place and I have to say it was really good. I ordered the carne Asada burrito combination and it was HUGE and very tasty. For a comparison, I am pretty sure the Dos Amigos burrito would be larger than a large Taco Del Mar burrito, but Dos Amigos was much better(I don’t really care for TDM). Anyway, the service was fast and the price was fair for the size of the meal(I am STUFFED) and the staff was friendly. The deli is clean and was pretty busy for 1:30 on a Tuesday. I eat Mexican food regularly, and although it may not be as authentic as grandma making the tortillas by hand, it is plenty authentic. So thumbs up from me. I don’t really understand the comments about the menu. The food is good, so who cares how big the menu is? They seem to have enough staff to prepare everything properly, so I don’t get it. Also, this location has re-done their menu since the last time I was in and it is more streamlined and easier to see the different categories(pasta, sandwiches, etc). And the folks who work there seem to communicate very well with each other, so maybe the place was in transition thing for those who gave bad reviews on staff/menu. I also like that the owner is around shouting(in a friendly way) to his staff and greeting the customers. And if he is there every day, then I can only imagine things are being done right.

I love the big selection, pasta sandwiches, and mexican! The cooks and owner were very nice and friendly. The food was delicious! Will be back again.

I don’t see how this got so many negative reviews, I went in there after going to rei and found the options and the prices to be excellent. I suggest trying it if you’re in the area, affordable, clean, variety…

I stopped in for a quick bite at 12:30pm today, and the place was basically empty. The sandwich was actually pretty good. I’ve run some restaurants in my day, and everything behind the counter looked clean, fresh and organized. But…why is the menu so huge? I have to be honest, thats a huge turn off for me. I seriously question how you can have all of the ingredients for all of those dishes and keep your stock fresh. If the place was huge with lines out the door, maybe, but it sure didn’t seem like that was the case. The place seems disorganized, even when empty. I’m the only person in the place, the guy who took my order(you can tell he’s the owner) is barking my order to someone 10 ft away, while I’m still ordering. Why? Mr Owner Man, do yourself a favor(s): –Cut the menu in half, maybe even less. The menu is chaos, and it gives your business an instant identity crisis. –Move the cash register closer to the door and make it WAY more obvious where you are supposed to order. There should be ONE point, and one point only where all transactions take place. –Your right across from the REI flagship store. Change the name to ‘Baby Seal Love Land’ or some baloney with ‘Green’ in the title, and you’ll rake in even more $$$. Sheeesh…why do I have to do all the crass capitalist pig plotting for you!!!

Had the Quesadilla, it was without a doubt the best I’ve ever had. Their salsa verde was excellent. I can’t speak for the rest of the menu, but I will be stopping in for the Quesadilla agin in the near future.

I am a VERY picky eater. I have the worst luck when it comes to finding weird things in my food or getting the wrong order. I work near Beba’s and frequent Dos Amigos often and have never had a ‘problem’ with my food. I generally go through the mexican line, but it is always fresh, tasty and right. Granted sometimes it takes a while due to the lunch rush, but I dont blame them. I know better than to go down between 12 and 1pm. I always order a chicken fajita something and have them leave off the fajita sauce/juice crap that they put on it and I always love it.

If it were not for proximity, dearth of options, and starved desperation, I can’t imagine anyone choosing to eat here. As another reviewer mentioned, the organization is calamitous. The first time I went there on a brief consultancy stint near REI, I thought, «Well, okay. Everyone must be in training.» The second time, I thought, «Whoa, serious turnover here, cuz they’re training again…» Now I realize that extreme clench of insanity is actually deliberate. And let me assure you that it DOES cause problems. Must be something about ordering from the sandwich guy, then the(apparent) owner, then having the owner translate the order to someone whose English is perhaps a bit compromised, who then rings the bill up, while the owner chats to you, then to them, then back to you again. Unsurprisingly, I got billed twice. Happily, this occurred on a day I decided to treat my coworker to lunch, so it was a $ 20 bill that got billed twice. I waited a few days to see if it would drop off, and it didn’t, so I brought in my iphone and showed the owner my bank statement, saying I’d been double charged. He said he «didn’t think so,» then was reluctant to believe it even when I showed him proof. He said it was a normal thing for credit cards, that the second one would fall off. I said, Uh, no. I am still astonished that he found it so hard to believe – given the Byzantine and incomprehensible clusterphuck that is their ordering process – that an error had been made. We went back and forth for easily 20 minutes while he rifled through EVERYVISACARBON that he had to try and determine a redundancy. Jesus Christ, dude, COMPIT! After all, you’re charging 9 bucks for a freaking tuna melt on Safeway Select white bread that disintegrates under the untenable weight of MAYONNAISE! I mean, that their food is mediocre is one thing. That this dismally loveless food is then marked up egregiously is not compelling. That their service is as efficient as a Costa Rican bank line on payday is mystifying. But that their inefficiencies actually caused me to be double-charged for an egg salad sandwich that tasted like packing peanuts anyway, and that this dispute was neither acknowledged nor rectified – and the owner used up my entire break shuffling through invoices unnecessarily, until I eventually left without any corrective effort on his part? This place without the confusion would be generic and forgettable, but add in the layer of crap customer service and fulfillment issues, and it crosses over into memorably bad. Even with the scant options would rather eat my own sleeve than return there.

Beba’s Deli and World Café/Dos Amigos — why must you be so weird and close to my office!!! Completely backwards service, flow, communication, pretty much everything… Walk in as the only customer and end up talking to one person taking your order, another preparing it, another ringing you up, another handing you your order. The staff seem nice but utterly & completely clueless when it comes to customer service.

Not too crazy about this place and I’ll tell you why: 1) On the pricey end considering their ingredients are Safeway-quality … c’mon, you shamelessly buy and display store-bought sliced bread by the loaf. They rely on the office lunch rush to overlook taste in favor of convenience. 2) Service takes forever … understandably, 12−1pm will be a busy time when you’re on the main floor of a corporate beehive. But 10 minute hagglings over punch cards and debit issues are not adding any stars here 3) Poor communication between servers and customers. Not even talking about noise or language barriers here, but just a general lack of service.

As an employee on the same block as this café, I have to say, Beba’s Deli is life-changing. The lack of quick in-and-out restaurants in this area is frustrating to someone who frequently forgets to pack a lunch before going into the office. I went from having to choose between World Wraps, Mad Pizza, and the so-so deli down a couple of blocks… to now having a choice of Mexican fare, sandwiches, salads, pasta, burgers, and so on. Yeah, any restaurant that has such a wide variety isn’t going to be spectacular in any one particular area, but stick to the basics, and you’ll be satisfied. Thank you, Beba’s. Thank you.

So I stopped in here tonight because I didn’t feel like making dinner. I have to say they have a wide selection of foods — from pasta to aco, burgers, baked potatoes & more. I decided to order 2 tacos. 1 chicken and 1 beef. I asked for no pico de gallo because I HATE onions. They repeated my request for no pico but when I got home guess what made up about 1⁄3 of each taco? Yup, pico de gallo. Seriously, you forgot in 5 min time? The flavor of the chicken was better than the beef. I felt like the beef was a little tough but overall they had good flavor. Then I am looking at the menu & I see any 2 tacos is $ 6.50. Hmmm, then why was my order $ 7.70 for 2 tacos??? Basically they messed up an easy order and apparently overcharged me according to their menu so they only get 2 stars. I will probably go back to try some other stuff they have & just remember if I ask for anything to be removed to check my food before I leave.
