Brace Point Pilates

I have been training at Brace Point Pilates for one year 2x/​week. Cynthia has patiently taught me precision, control, and breathing with a strong emphasis on technique. I have become stronger, gained flexibility, better posture, and strengthened my core. I love the one on one and admire Cynthia’s knowledge of the body and her encouragement for precise form. I really look forward to my session and especially enjoy the greeting from Josh (Cynthia’s adorable and friendly Golden Retriever)! I highly recommend!

Cynthia at Brace Point is an excellent Pilates instructor, particularly in the one-​on-​one setting she has in her studio. Her years of professional ballet training (and the associated injuries/​wear and tear on the body that the ballet discipline often presents) give her very detailed insight into the body – its strengths and vulnerabilities. I came to Cynthia because of fairly severe bulging disks in my lower back which caused painful sciatica down my left leg. Through the work at Brace Point I’ve been able to strengthen my core muscles around the injury and add flexibility as well – which in turn has lessened the pain and numbness of sciatica a great deal. The work is often subtle but very effective. If you have any health challenges or if you’re looking for some fine-​tuning, I cannot recommend Cynthia enough. And her flexibility with scheduling is an added bonus.

I was suffering from a shoulder injury incurred at a fitness studio over a year ago. I was loosing strength, balance, and sleep. I couldn’t raise my left arm above my shoulder, so everyday activities were impossible. I saw a sign in my neighborhood for Brace Point Pilates and checked it out online. The website was impressive. It seemed Cynthia had plenty of experience and success helping people with injuries, so I gave her a call. I was able to book an appointment that week. That was two months ago, and my flexibility and relief from pain has been steadily improving.
Because I was concerned about the cost, I have been going only once a week. Cynthia always gives me simple exercises and tips to try during the week. This is the highest quality body work I have had in my long life, and a great value too.
I am feeling so much better now, my shoulder isn’t hurting at night anymore and I have increased range of motion. My posture and balance are improving too. The greatest thing about all of this is that I NEVER feel any pain when working through the routines. Cynthia never encourages me to push through the pain. Quite the opposite, if it feels hard to do, she shows me another exercise to achieve the same goal.

I was referred to Cynthia by my PT (Biojunction Sports Therapy — another 5 star location) after I tore my hamstring and had some back problems from too many soccer injuries. Cynthia is extremely knowledgable and continually training so she can offer the best in class with her instruction. Cynthia is so professional and knowledgeable in what she does. Her Pilates method has no negative impact on your body but major impact on your strength, mobility, flexibility and over all well being of your body. I will confidently continue to refer her to all, especially those suffering from overcoming an injury.
She took me from possibly needing a new career and a second surgery, to overcoming my injury, getting my life back and continuing to do what I love as a career. If I had of found her two years ago I am confident to say she may have kept me from a back surgery.

I have been working with Cynthia at Brace Point Pilates for over two years. She is particularly adept at working with limitations/​injuries. She has helped me so much with core strength, leg strength (helps with my standing up from sitting, climbing stairs), and range of motion in what was heading towards a frozen shoulder. She varies the routine, so it’s fun. She’s encouraging. She believed I could do things before I did, and I now do things I never thought possible. She’s very precise about form, so I feel completely safe and accurate — knowing that my alignment is improving with each movement. She never pushes me to the point of pain. i was looking for a pilates class that could help my minor back pain but since i had never done any type of pilates before i needed one on one instruction. i came to the right place! cynthia is an incredible, knowledgeable teacher who works out of her home with flexible daytime hours that coincide with my kids being at school. if you are looking for a group session while trying to figure out all the moves by yourself this is not the place… if you want a tailored session to your needs definitely give brace point pilates a try!
